[15] Arcade

It's Friday. It's Friday and I am officially freaking out. Logan is going to be here in 40 minutes to pick me up, and I have no idea what we are going to do on this date. How am I supposed to dress? He would tell me if we were going somewhere fancy...right?

"I think you should just wear something casual. I feel like Logan would have told you if you were supposed to dress up." Kaitlyn assures me. She's probably right. He definitely would have... I think.

I look back at my closet. Casual. There's gotta be something good enough in here. After a few minutes, I settle on dark washed jeans, and a cropped black and white striped shirt that just barely touches the top of my jeans. I pair it with my white sneakers, and put some of my hair back with a small bow.

After putting on a little bit of makeup, I stand in front of my roommates, who are sporting very amused faces as I pace around the living room. "This is casual right? But not like to casual that he will think I don't care?"

"Awe... is our little Harper nervous for her date?" Morgan grins. I chew my nails in response.

"Don't worry Harp, you're going to have a great time."

"Yeah I'm worried about that too..." I sigh, plopping down on the couch next to them and let my head fall back.

"What do you mean?" Kaitlyn asks, shortly followed by Morgan's "What?"

"Because... if it goes well then I have to tell Kyle. And I know he said it's fine if we just stay friends... but telling him that and then starting something with Logan right in front of him?" I sigh. "Just seems to cruel. And I don't want to hurt him."

"Girl, you can't go into the night thinking like that."

"It's hard not to when I know they aren't speaking to each other." Josh told Morgan, who told me. I hate being the reason that they aren't talking to each other. They had such a close bond. What if they lose a game because they are mad at each other? I know how important football is to both of them and I could never forgive myself if I was the reason they were off their game.

I know this whole thing with Logan and I is complicated... it was way before Kyle came into the picture. I mean, he was a complete asshole when we met. But the way he held me and helped me breathe through my panic attack on Halloween... he was really there for me. Then again, so was Kyle. He sat with me on Logan's bed until I fell asleep. He never left my side.

I am pulled from my thoughts by a knock on the door. I look at my roommates, a surge of panic going through me, but they send me reassuring smiles and gesture towards the door. Right. I need to open it.

As I swing the door open, I am greeted with a wonderful sight. Logan, in jeans and a form fitting long sleeve shirt. Hot damn. His hair looks like he recently got out of the shower, still slightly damp.

"Hey gorgeous, you ready to go?" I swear his words keep my planted in place. If he keeps talking to me like this it's going to be a long night.

I smile at him. "Yup!" I grab my coat and close the door behind me before my roommates can say a single word to embarrass me.

Logan immediately grabs my hand, which again, throws me off guard. It's not like I'm not enjoying it, cause I am. But I guess I never thought he would be like this with me.

He doesn't seem like a touchy feely kind of guy, but hey, I'm not going to complain. Not when his hand feels like it perfectly fits in mine. He opens the door to a car that I know isn't his. When he comes around and hops in the driver's side, I question him.

"What... no motorcycle today?" I grin.

"Nope, Josh let me borrow his car. Why? You disappointed you won't be able to feel up my abs on the way over there?" He laughs. He doesn't laugh often, but when he does, it's the best.

I roll my eyes. "Yeah actually, why else would I ever get on your motorcycle?"

I'm met with another laugh and it makes me smile. I like him like this. All sweet and happy. Not that I don't like the broody and moody side to him, but this is definitely my favorite.

"So do you mind telling me where we are going?" I ask, looking out the window to try and figure it out. I haven't been to this part of town yet.

"You'll just have to wait and see." He grins. He so knows this is going to kill me.

"What?! You're not going to tell me?" I whine. "You're the worst."

"You'll get over it once you see where I am taking you." He smirks. I am so getting back at him for this. It's not that I don't like surprises... I just don't like knowing about the surprises. The anticipation kills me and if I know I am getting one it's all I can think about. So, since he's so confident about this place... I plan to make him sweat a little.

We finally pull up to our destination and it takes everything in me not to break out into the biggest smile and blow my cover. But I stay strong and keep a blank face.

"You took my to an arcade?" I say blankly, as though I'm not impressed. I see the confidence drain from Logan's face. He is totally questioning his decision to bring me here.

"Yeah... I just know you're competitive and I thought you might like it... dang I thought for sure this was the perfect place, but we can go somewhere else it's okay." He makes a move to restart the car, but I burst into giggles, stopping him in his tracks.

"I'm just messing with you Logan. This is perfect. I had to get back at you for not telling me where we were going. But seriously let's go!"

I slam my door shut and all but run inside, Logan close behind me. The first game I see is the basketball game. And although I have never been overly great at this game, I know I want to go to that one first.

"Are you sure you want to start with this one? You know I'm an athlete right?"

I roll my eyes. What is with the confidence of this man? "In case you forgot, you play football. Different sport."

"Okayyy" He sings, swiping our game cards. "Just remember when I beat you that you picked this game."

We start and immediately I know I'm screwed. I mean, not only is his hand eye coordination on point, but his damn muscles keep distracting me. They way he lines up to take a shot, and flicks his wrist... I keep looking out of the corner of my eye and probably waste a few seconds just gawking at this man's athletic ability.

He does it so effortlessly. I however, have managed to make two shots and I looked anything but graceful doing it.

He won. Just like he said he would. He's acting way to smug about it. I need to knock his ego down a few pegs, so I pick a game out that I know I have never lost. The race games.

My little brother loves Mario Cart. So growing up we always used to play it together after school. He might have more athletic skill than me, but I know how to do race games.

I drag him over to that one. "Alright Mr. Athlete, let's see what you got."

He scoffs. "Please, I could do this in my sleep."

We start the game and I have to laugh at how well my plan worked. I am totally kicking his ass. He started off okay, but the track was a little tricky and had lots of twists and turns. A few grunts and 'shits' from Logan later, by little avatar is dancing on the screen, announcing my victory.

"In your sleep you said?" I mock him, which thankfully he laughs off.

"You probably just got lucky."

"That is so not true!" I laugh. I may be competitive, but I think I may have met my match. After we argued for a bit longer, I made him play it again. And He lost. Every. Single. Time. Once he finally admitted defeat, we played a few other games before deciding to turn in our tickets for a prize.

"Here, take mine too and pick something out." He offers, and it makes me all giddy inside. That is so sweet. With all of his tickets, I scan the shelves for what possible prizes I can get. Most of it is junk, as most arcade prizes are, but a pink stuffed llama catches my eyes.

I point to that one and the arcade worker grabs it for me after counting the tickets.

"Cute." Logan says as I squeeze my prize, already loving how soft it is.

We get back into the car and head in the direction of ice cream. Or at least I thought that was where we were going. So I am very confused when we pull into one of the school parking lots.

"What are we doing here? Nothing on campus is open this late."

"C'mon Strawberry, I got connections." He holds his hand out, and I take it, letting him lead the way. We get to the court yard and a smile breaks out on my face. Mikey's Milkshakes is still open, and Mike himself has two milkshakes already on the counter, waiting for us.

"I told Mikey what happened the day we met, and he agreed to stay open a little longer for me." I cannot believe he pulled this off.

"Hey sweet pea." Mike greets me. "Heard you never got to finish that free milkshake." He slides the strawberry goodness over to me.

"Thank you!" I reach for my wallet, but he stops me. "No need sugar, your boy here already paid."

My boy. My stomach flutters at the thought.

"Thanks." I blush, taking the shake as Logan takes his, guiding us to a picnic table. It's weird, and oddly poetic, that this is how we will end the night.

It isn't until now that I notice the flavor of Logan's milkshake. Vanilla.

"What? Please don't tell me your favorite flavor is vanilla."

He laughs. "Not you too. Can't a guy just enjoy his vanilla milkshake in peace?"

"But it's so bland! This just won't work. I will change your mind about this. Any flavor is better than... vanilla." I shudder, which only makes Logan's smile grow wider.

"Well... I am growing quite fond of strawberry lately." He brushes his knee against mine. There goes that electricity again. "Here then, have some of mine." I try to hand him mine but he refuses.

"No, I like it better when I taste it on your lips." I swear to god it gets hotter outside. I know it's November, but all of a sudden I am burning up. I blush and don't comment back, just finishing the rest of my milkshake. When I don't answer he just chuckles to himself before asking me about classes, and if I was planning on coming to the game next week before going home for Thanksgiving. I'm sure he would like to continue our little conversation, but I am too flustered and I appreciated him changing the subject.

By the time we get to my apartment, I have a permanent smile on my face. He opens the door for me and I step out of the car, only to be pinned against it. I was hoping he would kiss me again, but I was not expecting it to happen in the parking lot. I gasp out of shock and Logan's mouth finds mine, molding perfectly with my own.

Every time he kisses me, it gets better and better. The feel of his hands roaming my body sets it on fire, and the feel of cold metal against my back makes me skin feel even hotter than it already is. He finds my bottom lip, softly biting it as he pushes his body closer to mine.

As quick and heated as the kiss came, it's gone the next. He pecks my lips one more time before smiling down at me.

"I had a really good time Harper, and I hope you did too cause I can't stop thinking about you."

This man and his words. I could melt into a puddle right here. "That was fun. We should do it again sometime." I wink, using the words he said to me after our first kiss.

He laughs. "I would like that." He walks me to the door before giving me another quick kiss.

"Night gorgeous."

And then he's gone.

The door opening pulls my attention away from the stairs, revealing my two very nosy roommates grinning ear to ear.

"Tell us everything."

I've been wanting to write this chapter for so long. Do we just love Logan or what?

With it being the holidays, my updating may not be as frequent. I am hoping to sneak in as many chapters as I can, but I will be spending this time with my family. Hope you all can understand! Merry Christmas!
