Part 3

I forgot to be a girl today

"You what?" Hoseok asked with a frown on his face.

"I gave him my number." I murmur, already feeling the scolding that's coming next. But, to my surprise, it doesn't come, instead I hear something worse. Hoseok sighs. "Hyung, don't sigh. It makes me feel like I did something wrong." I feel guilty.

"That's because you did. You can't have a relationship with a client, but that's not the worst part. He believes you're a girl and you're pretending to keep with that lie?"

"Hobi, don't treat him like that. The kid just has a crush on him." Taehyung says as he finishes cleaning the last coffee machine.

"You don't get to defend him. You're a kid just like him and you both don't understand that this whole situation could end up wrong."

"Look, I understand that you're worried, but don't make a big deal. He's probably not even going to call me." I try to make Hoseok feel better, but inside I really hope he calls me.

"I hope so, otherwise you'll be in trouble."

"Don't be so stiff." Taehyung adds, rolling his eyes. Hoseok just looks at the both of us, not even a small smile on his face.

"Get going, I need to clean the counter and check some things in the storage." He limits to say. I nod and walk with Taehyung besides me. The latter waves goodbye to Hoseok and he just rolls his eyes.

"I don't know why you like him so much. He's our friend now, but he never has fun." I say, when we get out of the cafe. The night greets us with its new cold weather and I search for a scarf in my bag.

"I don't know. He's so serious and I think that's what I like about him." Taehyung puts on a beret. "He's a real man, not a kid and I find that really attractive. He's not playing games."

"Yeah, and you're exactly the opposite." I laugh. I know Taehyung's looking for a man who acts like that, but I feel that Hoseok will never notice him because of his child-like behavior. If Hoseok liked him, he would have tried to make a move, right? We have known Hoseok for a year now since we started working at the coffee shop. That's enough time to know if you like someone.

"Let me dream." Taehyung halts and flashes a sad smile and I feel bad for saying it. I stop too and try to take back what I said, but he stops me. "Are you walking home?"

"Umm, yes. It's very late, so I don't think there are any buses by now. What about you?"

"Yes, I don't have enough money to call a taxi." He shrugs.

"I can give you some." I offer, but he's already walking to his direction.

"Don't worry. See you tomorrow." He smiles and starts running.

"See you." I yell because he's already far from me.

Just like every night that we walk home late, I feel a little scared, but I get home safely. I open the door and walk inside my comfy house. It's small, but I don't complain since I live alone. I take a quick shower and get into my pajamas. Then I make myself a bowl of cereal that I eat half asleep on my couch and I don't realize when I drift to sleep completely while the tv is still sounding in the background.

I wake up to the sound of my alarm and realize that it's morning already and my back hurts a lot from sleeping on the couch. One day you're young and the next one...

"Shit! I didn't turn the tv off." I mutter when I see it still on. "Perfect, I'm going to pay it with the money that I don't have!"

I get myself clean and ready for work and walk there in time to see Hoseok already preparing some stuff in the fridge.

"Seriously, do you live here or something? Do you ever sleep?" I ask because I still don't get how he manages to be the first to arrive and the last to go.

"Good morning to you too." He smiles.

"Good morning to me too." Taehyung appears and winks at Hoseok.

"Yeah, to you too."

"You're all so mean, I swear. I don't wake up so early to be greeted this way. I deserve some-" before Taehyung finishes his rant, I hear my phone ringing the so familiar Winter Bear ringtone and I almost don't answer the call because I want to sing along, but I do it anyways. [I listen to Winter bear while writing this because I'm obsessed with it.]

"Hello." I say, smiling because my ringtone gets me in such a great mood.

"Oh, hey! Jimin?"

"Yes, who is it?" I ask because it is an unknown number.

"It's Jungkook." My heart stops and I almost screech. I don't know what to do, so I cover my mouth in disbelief. I feel like I'm going to pass out. "Hello? Are you there?" I force myself to calm down. "Is it Jimin? Oh, God. I hope she didn't give me a fake number."

"Oh, yes, yes. It's me, Jimin. How are you? I wasn't expecting your calling."

"Yes." His voice sound nervous and I smile at that. "I- umm, yeah. I don't exactly know why I called. I guess I just wanted to know if it was really you, but yeah. I don't know if this is weird, but I'll be arriving earlier today."

"Uh, yes. Why?" I laugh.

"I want to talk to you, and maybe at eight you won't have too many clients to attend, so..."

"You mean, in five minutes?" Suddenly, realization hits me. I'm a boy. I'm a fucking boy and he's arriving in five minutes to talk to me... as a girl!

"Yes. I'll be there in five. Maybe ten."

"I-I don't-" If I say no he might think I'm not interested and might never come back to this place. "I- yes, sure."

"Yeah?" He sounds a little too hopeful and it makes my heart melt instantly.

"Make it ten. Or take your time, I'll be here all day anyway." I say, panicked, looking for Hoseok desperately.

"Ok, see you later."

"Yes, bye." I hang up and ran to Hoseok when I see him.

"Please, don't hate me." I beg. The smile he was sharing with Taehyung long gone.

"What did you do?"

"Please, drive me home to get something I forgot"

"You finally realized that because of your dumb decision of pretending you were a girl, you have to dress like that every day at 8:15 when he arrives?" he quirks an eyebrow.

"You knew it and you didn't tell me?!" I scream.

"It was obvious for everyone except you." Taehyung butts in.

"You're supposed to be my friends."

"I don't want to be part of this. I don't support it." Hoseok shrugs.

"I do want to be part of this, but I wanted to see you freaking out." Taehyung smiles.

"Please, Hoseok. I beg you. There's no way I can get home in five minutes and get ready if I go walking."

"Five minutes?"

"Yes, he said he'll be here earlier because he wants to talk to me. Please, Hoseok. Don't let this love die before it starts." I beg, feeling like Jungkook will walk through that door in seconds.

Hoseok finally sighs and shakes his head "Fine. I'll drive you. But I won't help you any other time. I just don't want to be there when you embarrass yourself in front of him."

"I do." Taehyung claps happily.

"You're staying here, punk." Says Hoseok, making Taehyung's smile drop.

"What? Why?"

"Because your friend here doesn't know how to drive a car, and the place can't be left alone. People will arrive any minute and you have to attend."

"No. This place is madness in the morning, I can't do it alone!"

"Time to prove me you're a whole, responsible, capable, grown up man, Taehyung." Hoseok looks at him, and Taehyung immediately shuts up. I'm scared of that solemn look in his eyes.

"Yes, boss." Taehyung says, putting on his apron as Hoseok and I hurry towards the door.
