It was a cold and dark night outside, the bright moon shining through the dark clouds, the breeze a bit chilly. Silver had decided to take a walk through the woods, just to clear her head.

Silver started to notice that barnabas, who was her father, would go out late at night and come home with blood on his clothes and sometimes his mouth.

She didn't really think much of it. Maybe he got in a bad fight with somebody... she really didn't know. But her curiosity kept growing and growing until she decided to follow him one night... this night.

Silver looked around, her arms wrapped around her shoulders, since she was a bit cold. She didn't even think to bring a jacket or sweater, or just something to keep her warm.

All of a sudden, there was a scream, followed by a choking noise. Silvers eyes widened as she peeked her head from behind a tree and what she saw made her skin crawl and her heart begin to race.

Her father was holding a man, who was breathing heavily and gasping for breath,  by the neck, his face near his. "I'm very sorry for what's about to happen. Forgive me..." with that, barnabas latched his teeth into the man's neck and started drinking his blood.

A blood curdling scream escaped silvers lips, her hands flying to her mouth. She couldn't believe what he just saw!! What the hell did her father just do?!

After drinking the man's blood in about 5 seconds, Barbara swiftly turned around as he dropped the now lifeless body, his eyes locking on his daughters.

"Oh no..." he whispered to himself, his dead heart sinking. If his heart was still beating, it would have definitely shattered into a million pieces. He hated that his precious little girl just saw what he did to that innocent man.

Silver started backing away but she ended up tripping over her own foot and landed on her back. She quickly sat up as her hands and body started to tremble, quite obviously, her breath shaky as well. She couldn't even speak, she was so scared.

Barnabas looked at her with sad eyes as he got closer to her and was able to kneel down in front of her.

"P-please don't kill me d-daddy..." she managed to say as a few tears fell Down her cheeks.

Yup. Even though barnabas heart wasn't beating, it still shattered. The Last thing he wanted was for his daughter to be afraid of him or think that he would hurt her in any way.

"Silver... I would never ever hurt you in any way. I'm so sorry you had to see that..." he genuinely apologized as he gently placed a hand on her knee. Silver was still shaking so bad, from being cold and from how terrified she was.

"A-are you a... a vampire?" She asked just above a whisper as barnabas grabbed a handkerchief from his coat pocket and wiped the blood from his mouth and face.

"Regrettably so... I don't like living this way. But I really don't have a choice. Years ago, I was changed into a vampire by a witch, cursed forever." That was all he could say about how he was turned. He couldn't tell her that Angelique, her mother, was the one who cursed him. That would break her heart.

Silver looked past him, glancing at the dead body before looking quickly looking away, her breath continuing to tremble.

"The rest of the Collins family knows. But my darling girl, I will never ever harm you in any way, shape or form. I will protect you with every inch of my body And I won't let anything happen to the family, your mother, or you. You're my precious girl." He said as his own eyes watered.

Silver sniffled as she swallowed a lump in her throat, barnabas moving closer to her. "I won't kill in front of you, or near you again. I will only do it at night, when you're not around. I-I understand if you hate me..." He said softly as he looked down. He truly felt horrible.

Silver slowly looked up at him again, sniffling. She could never ever hate her father. Even though he was a vampire, she still loved him. She slowly moved towards him and barnabas was shocked when she wrapped her arms around his waist, her head resting against his chest.

"I-I don't hate you papa... I could never hate you. Please don't ever think that..." she said as barnabas looked down at her. He wrapped his arms around her and cradled her head, kissing the top of her head before resting his cheek against her hair.

"But I'm a monster... I killed that innocent man..." he said as his eyes welled up. Silver looked at him, keeping her head against his shoulder.

"You're not a monster... y-you did what you had to do... and vampire or not, I still love you. You'll always be my papa..." she said as barnabas felt a tear fall down his cheek, his hand coming up to rest on her cheek. He gently wiped away her tears with his thumb as he gave a sad smile.

"I love you so much, my dear girl. I swear, I will never let anyone or myself, hurt you or our family." He said as he held her close.

Silver closed her eyes as she rested her forehead against his. "I love you too papa. So much." She said softly before hugging him again. He held his daughter close to his chest as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Even though he was a vampire, he would always be her papa.
