Chapter 11-Pre game
"Here we go." Said Addie while starting the car.
"Why are you so nice with me?" I asked her.
The question was burning in my mouth for so long now. I had to know.
She smiled.
"I've always kind of like you. We've never talked but I loved your careless attitude, something I can't afford." She replied, keeping her eyes on the road.
My careless attitude?
"Why not?"
"Well, let's say my parents have great plans for me and I can't disappoint them in any way. I have to be their perfect little daughter. Sometimes I wish I could just paint my hair black and pink, without anyone caring."
She said that last sentence with a wink in my direction. I surprised myself smiling.
"I think you're allowed to do anything you'd like. You are free. That's what beautiful about life."
"Aren't you sad?" She asked, suddenly changing subject.
"I mean about him."
I stiffened. How dared she even talk about him?
"Of course."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just think you're handling this well. Better than I did when my grandma passed." She explained.
I'm handling this well because I'll have my revenge on you and all of them.
"I guess, I'm getting used to it."
Lie, lie, lie.
She nodded while parking in front of a huge house.
Of course she was rich. What didn't she have in life?
The inside was as sumptuous as the outside. The marble stairs were standing right in front of us. In my right, a huge leaving room. In my left a dreamy kitchen.
Nobody was home except for a massive German Shepherd who jumped on me.
"Jack calm down will you?" Admonished Addison to her dog.
It listened rapidly.
"Let's go in my room!"
I followed her in her room as I remembered I forgot to mention to my parents where I was.
"Crap. Wait a sec."
She nodded and went upstairs.
I called my mom but she didn't answer so I called my dad.
"Hello?"
"Hi dad, I just want to tell you I'm at a friend's house. I'm going to a football game tonight, I have no idea when I'll get home."
No sound went through the line.
"Dad? Are you there?"
"Huhh, yes, yes. What friend?"
As far as I remembered, Alec was my only friend and my parents knew that.
"Addison Sparks. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." I assured.
I could feel my dad was shocked.
"Hum, ok then have fun. Don't do anything stupid."
"Yeah right. Bye."
I hung up and went to join Addie in her room. It was simple, minimalist. White walls, clear wood floor, king size bed and a couple of pictures.
" I'm here!" A voice yelled from an other room.
Actually, it wasn't an other room. It was her closet. And it was huge.
Addie had put on a simple black dress. It was tight and I wondered how she could breathe.
"How about that? What do you think?" She asked.
I sat on a chair.
"I don't think you'll be comfortable sitting in cold and hard ass benches in that dress, as beautiful as it might look."
She laughed.
"Yeah, you're right. Better go for the comfy side."
She undressed and put on skinny jeans and a cute top.
"Ethan likes you." She pointed out.
My eyes widened.
"What the fuck?"
"I'm telling you. He can't keep his eyes off you."
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yeah right."
"Stop it! I know him. He never looked at me, the way he looks at you."
I shrugged. I didn't care, really. I didn't know what to answer so I didn't say anything.
"Let's get a bit drunk and then we shall leave." Said Addie with a playful look.
I grinned.
"That I can do."
