Chapter 40
The world seemed to have split in to two halves of truth and lies for Kael. A hurricane of emotions was in full force in his mind. Anger, hatred, betrayal and pain was consuming his decent half. A part of him craved to rip her apart to find the truth but a part of him was in denial. 'No! these are just ridiculous accusations on her. Andressa would never betray me. I will find the truth.'
"You are disturbed son?" Jose questioned but Kael nodded and refused to answer.
"We have trackers on Clarke but he is smart enough to find them and find a way to avoid us so a tracker is implanted in him and I believe he will hardly doubt it." Adrian joined in to the conversation.
"He will be released tomorrow once the data he gave us is verified. I hope you have something good in mind Gurreirro, this time we can't afford any mistakes."
"I don't mistake!" Kael glared at Adrian.
"Not specifically but you are quite deviated from your usual behaviour brother. I am just stating a fact." Adrian finished putting his arms above him in defence.
"Mateal has a strong connection with the authorities than we think. He is responsible for the recent losses we endured. After this meeting with Rodrigo we should be able to strike a deal to sneak in to Mateal's gang to execute our plan. If we succeed, then Mateal will be wiped off for good but should we fail this rivalry of the gangs will come heavy upon us." Jose continued to talk.
"Our men are watching Samuel as well. So far we have nothing suspicious to worry about but he is not to be trusted. He was the sharpest of us all and Lucas highly depended on him. Trust brought Lucas nothing but death in the end. We should be more cautious." Kael listened to Jose silently.

"Ma'am you should not be leaving the premises. The climate doesn't seem to be good this evening." A guard told Andressa when she stepped out of the house.
"I am just going to take a walk in the estate and please I would like to be alone. I will be back soon before dinner." Andressa replied feeling angry inwardly at Kael for having guards tail her all the time even when she was in the house.
"Yes, ma'am" The guard backed away hesitantly.
Andressa was stressed being stuck in the house for the past three days. Kael had not returned her calls nor replied to her messages. She was furious at his behaviour but this was his usual behaviour when Kael went out on his mafia business. It was the same when she was in Greece months ago but since things were different between them now she expected him to be like a normal husband. 'well you are not normal and we are not a normal couple. This is so annoying' Andressa said to herself as she walked down the beach and continued to explore the estate leading toward the woods.
She sat on the field of flat grass shaded by a tree to rest her aching feet. Andressa looked back the way she had come only to realise that she had walked way too far from the house lost in her thoughts. 'Argh! Now I have to walk all the way back.' She lay back on the grass letting out a deep sigh. The wind was getting heavier and the sky was dark. The woods were darker than usual as a result of bad weather and Andressa got up to her feet to walk back to the house.
"Shit, where am I." Andressa said to herself after walking for about another twenty minutes in the woods they way she thought she came. The sky was filled with dark thunderous clouds making Andressa's path darker and unclear. She knew she was lost but she didn't stop, she kept walking hoping to see the beach soon. She could find her way back once she got to the beach she prayed silently as she continued to walk but little did she know that she was making her way deep in to the woods.
Rain started pouring as thunder struck hard. Andressa started to run as it was not just any rain it was heavy downpour. The cold icy rain soaked her to the bones and the damp clothes were making it difficult to run and she slowed her pace down the slippery path. Andressa came to a stop at what seemed like some rundown old boundary wall.
"A wall, alright there should be some shelter a hut, a house just something behind this."
Andressa walked around it hoping to find some shelter to stay until the rain subsided. She found a collapsed portion of the wall and Andressa went through it to find herself at the courtyard of a rundown nearly ruined old villa. Though it had almost collapsed on itself it was sufficient for Andressa to stay safe she thought. She took her mobile phone to ring the house and ask the guards to pick her up from this ruined old house but there was no reception due to the storm.
She was soaked from head to toe and she was shivering. The wind pierced her skin hence Andressa stepped inside the old house hoping to lessen the cold she felt. Andressa wondered inside the rundown house. The walls have collapsed inwardly at places and roof sagged. Greens were grown on the floors and the walls that remain standing. Andressa noticed mouldings on the remaining walls and some parts of the remaining ceiling and to make the place odder there were remains of rotten furniture. 'Who would desert their own house like this' Andressa thought to herself. Once the place had been grand and luxurious she could tell from what was left from it.
Andressa took the liberty to take a tour of the house herself and she used the flashlight of her mobile phone to shed some light. She came to a larger room which seemed to be like the great room of the house. It had a half collapsed fireplace and several broken rotten chairs. 'I wonder why Kael left this old house standing on his estate' she silently said to herself as she explored. There were picture frames hanging on the wall but the pictures have been destroyed. To her count there were five bedrooms in the house out of two which was entirely destroyed.
"Argh"
Andressa jumped when she accidentally hit her foot on something hard. She picked it up and noticed it was an airplane made of wood. She felt an ache in her heart when she looked at the toy. Her instincts were screaming to go further and see what is over the last doorway she hadn't explored yet. Andressa stepped toward it slowly with the wooden toy in her hand. She pushed the broken door and a part of it fell to the floor making a loud thud. Her heart sank at the sight before her eyes. It was a child's room. The small bed in the middle of the room had ornate iron rods for the headboard. The bed has been occupied by insects was evident. Everything inside the room were ruins of one's a lovely playful room of a kid. Andressa saw something peering under the bed. She crouched down to see it was a torn old teddy bear. She pulled it out but it was stuck so she looked under the bed to see what it was stuck and she noticed a small suitcase made of steel.
Out of curiosity Andressa sat on the floor of the room and tried to open the steel case but it had a small padlock. It was all rusted and Andressa managed to crack it open effortlessly by using a broken foot of a chair. Inside the box were some old papers and a small trinket box and a carving of a wooden flower. Using her flashlight Andressa examined the contents eagerly. There was a drawing of a family made by a child the colours have faded but it was cute she thought. There were some writings in crumpled papers. 'I love you! mama' She read one out loud. There were several scribbling on papers.
Then there were some old pictures. Andressa observed them one by one. One picture was of a beautiful young woman. Her eyes had a special sparkle in them. She had long wavy dark hair and deep grey eyes. Andressa was captivated by her eyes, she felt as if the woman was staring right through her. In the next picture the woman was holding a toddler in her arms. The child had the same grey eyes as the woman. Surely it was her son she thought. In the next picture there was man standing next to the woman and she was holding the little boy in her arms. Andressa stared at the picture for longer. The man was unusually familiar to her as if she had seen him before. She kept looking at the picture and the reality struck.
'Oh my goodness' Andressa exhaled loudly.
"Could this be?" She examined the picture more.
The man was tall almost towering the petite woman. He had dark hair and a chiselled jaw and his features resembled Kael. He was a lot like Kael except for the blue eyes. Kael had grey eyes, deep grey eyes that the beautiful woman had. 'Is this Kael with his parents? I have come to his old house where his father was murdered. Of course this has to be Kael, what a resemblance he and his father has and those deep grey eyes I fell for. Oh my God!' Andressa sniffed and gulped the lump that built in her throat.
"So everything Izabel said was true, everything about Kael is true."
There was one last picture Andressa had not seen yet. She eagerly looked at it and her entire body stiffened from sudden shock. The coldness she felt vanished and she felt sick. She stared at the picture and it felt like an eternity. It was a picture of three men and two women having a drink. One was Kael's father she assumed as he was the same man in the pictures she saw earlier. Kael's mother was next to him and there was another girl who seemed like a sixteen years or so. She had pretty green eyes and dark brown hair cut short to her shoulders. A shorter man with a moustache and the next one was some one Andressa knew too closely. It was her father in his younger days. Andressa couldn't believe her eyes.
She leaned on the mossy wall and cried silently. She denied all the accusations made upon her father but fate has played a cruel game with her. Everything she believed to be a lie turned out to be true. The only thing Andressa felt right was when she was with Kael, the love they had for each other. She hated when Kael accused her father as a killer. She hated when Izabel told her the story of her father betraying Lucas Dangelo. Never for a moment she thought that all the pieces of the puzzle would fall in to place and her father would be unravelled to be a member of the mafia. The man who betrayed his leader. The man who caused so much pain to a little boy. The man who concealed the bitter truth of a shameful past to his daughter. She felt as if her entire world had flipped upside down as she recalled Kael once said that ' It's in your blood, Andressa.'
"Nooooo" Andressa cried hard, tears rolling down her cheeks just like the rain that poured outside.

So the story is getting steamed up. Lot of secrets are being unravelled and Andressa found out the truth about her father. She is shattered, I know I would be if I were to find out something dark like this was behind me.
