Chapter 30

Keal stood still, his eyes locked on an unconscious Andressa. She looked so pale and fragile as if life has been drained out of her. All his life Kael wanted one thing. It was his only reason for living and that reason brought him to Andressa. She was the queen in his game of chess. He was going to use her to check-mate the opponent king. He made her go through a mind-boggling maze of pain and suffering. Kael was used to getting anything and everything he want. He made his own fate or he thought he did until this moment. His life felt distorted as he felt so powerless.

Fate has turned its tables indicating that no human has power over their destiny. Kael was a man who found solace in blood. He killed without mercy and he had no remorse. The dreadfulness of his parent's deaths, the bitter life he lived in suffering and the angel who brought lightness in to his dark world, everything flashed back to him in a storm of memories squalling inside his mind. Kael knelt beside the hospital bed closing his eyes and folding his hand for a prayer. Once the man who feared nothing, who never prayed to the lord now prayed for her life as if his entire existence depended on her. He prayed as he feared death, he feared grief and losing the love of his life. He prayed silently that there will be a tomorrow for Andressa.

Kael was disturbed by a distant noise of footsteps. He opened his eyes and stood up his eyes still locked on Andressa.

"What the hell did you do! You had no right to move my daughter here and put her life in danger" A voice Kael had never heard before but he knew that it belonged to the man who made him suffer for twenty years.

"You bastard. You destroyed my daughter." Samuel's words spat out from his mouth in deep anger. Samuel went on cursing and Kael did his best to contain himself.

Kael did not turn for he knew if he did he would end Samuel's life at that very moment. He did not intend to jeopardize his cover and put his loyal men at stake. Kael felt his temper boiling up rapidly and he gritted his teeth in an effort to remain silent. The words Samuel spat out were burning him inside and he hid his reddened face from suppressed rage by facing his back to the enemy.

"Mr. Andrade such behaviour is not tolerated in the hospital premises. If you don't stop at once I will call the security." A nurse who came rushing in to the room said to Samuel, warning him. Kael turned to meet the eyes of his enemy. The one who he remembers as a shadow in his nightmares.

"It's him you want out of here, not me" Samuel spat back at the nurse. The poor nurse flinched a step at the ferocity of this old man.

"Samuel, you need to come with us." Just at that moment an FBI agent paced in to the room and commanded Samuel.

"I will not. This man over here, I need him out of this room right now" Samuel bickered.

"Samuel, our agents have screened him already. He is your daughters husband and she is the only one who can keep him away from this room." The agent told Samuel in an effort to contain him.

"Samuel! You are standing a free man today only because I am being considerate. Leave now before I change my mind and press charges on you for criminal negligence and send you in for five years." Kael's voice echoed breaking the silence in the room.

There was a deafening silence for a second or two. Samuel glared at Kael, it was all he could do. His eyes were hard and looked dangerous as if the monsterous Samuel he buried in him years ago was surfacing. He was no longer able to utter a word except he silently wished that he had destroyed the root he left out when he cut off the big tree twenty years ago. He now knew, that small root had grown so enormous and stronger than its predecessor. Samuel knew that Kael has everything planned to avenge his parent's death. There is a lot you are not aware of boy! You have no idea who you are dealing with. Your pathetic father couldn't kill me and you think you can. You are calling death upon yourself boy! Samuel turned away and left with the agent who had come for him.

"You should be more careful with who you are dealing with Kael. You are playing a game of life and death and it will consume you to the end!" Samuel said his last words to Kael without turning back.

The words Samuel said echoed in Kael's mind. He knew Samuel gave him some kind of an information or rather a warning. Kael and Samuel both men are from the same background where violence was a normal part of life. The only thing different was that Kael was determined to kill his enemy. The only thing holding him back was his love for Andressa. Kael knew that something devastating is ready to be served for him. A man so vicious and devious surely meant what he said before he left.
