Chapter 26
"Good morning ma'am, would you like to have tea or coffee" the flight attendant asked politely.
Andressa was staring outside the clouds seemed like a pathway to infinite paradise. She turned to the flight attendant and smiled. "A glass of water would be nice" she replied. She was soon given a cool glass of water.
Andressa kept her gaze averted from the man who is sitting in front of her for the past two hours. Adrian was accompanying her back home. He talked too much and his presence felt intimidating but rather annoying way. Andressa answered to his questions saying either yes or no but this man took long to understand that she was not interested in a conversation and he was now busy doing something on his laptop.
It's a long flight back to the states and the captain already announced that they will be landing in France for re-fuel. She was entirely engulfed in her own thoughts, I should be happy that I am finally going home. Then again a part of me is sad and hurt . I cannot understand why. Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of Kael.
He was not on bed when she woke up and later on Adrain has come to get her. She was informed that Kael has left for some important business meeting in Italy. As usual he left her again without saying goodbye and a note was left for her.
Dearest Andressa,
I am leaving you at the safe hands of Adrian. I hope that your time with family be blissful.
Kael.
That was it. A plain old note with nothing affectionate written in it. Oh please girl you expect affection from the man you want to be away from.
Andressa felt a sigh of relief as the captain announced that they have reached their destination after a 9 hour long flight over the Atlantic. A limousine was waiting for them beside the tarmac. They were greeted by a chauffeur who Adrian called as Bennett. There was a still a one hour drive left until they finally reach home. My home! after all this I am home. She smiled inwardly.
"You are lucky you know" Adrian said to her and she snapped out of her thoughts. He positioned himself to face directly at her.
"Kael never go easy on anyone. So you are lucky and for the record you are the first." He said to her with a smirk to which Andressa raised an eyebrow gawking at him.
"Seriously girl, you got away easy from him I must say. I think you must be very special to him" He said.
"It's highly unlikely Adrian." Andressa replied looking at her hand, which held his ring gracefully.
"No you are girl! He wouldn't have sent you home if you were nothing to him. Especially considering the circumstances." Adrian said in a stern cold voice.
Andressa looked outside, the streets were lit and decorations were put up to celebrate the New Year. Parents walking with their children and carefree teenagers rolling up for the grand celebration at midnight. She too felt a rush of excitement in her body as she is going to meet her family soon. The car came to a stop marking the end of their destination. Finally I am home! Andressa glanced at the house standing in front of her,her home!
"We are here" Adrian said breaking the silence.
"Yes! yes we are!" Andressa replied, a hint of excitement and happiness filled in her voice. Her once pale and gloomy face brightening up with colour. Adrian glanced at her intently and he felt pity for the woman who is so selfless and naive, entrapped herself in the arms of the most dangerous man in the continent. You deserve some one better than him Girl, may be me, well I am in the same boat but hey I got the looks and the charm and I know how to entertain a woman unlike my big boss!. Chuckled at his own thought.
"What! some thing funny?" Andressa asked shooting an eyebrow at Adrian.
"Oh no, I just thought of something really stupid." He replied.
"Uh! that mind of your's is not able to think anything intelligent anyway!" She replied teasing him.
"Ouch! The girl has got a mouth, my lucky day" He smirked at her.
"No wonder you are stupid Adrian, all you can think of is a girl sucking.." she stopped herself by force keeping her hand over her mouth.
"and? come on go ahead" Adrian said out loud with a sly smirk plastered on his face.
"Not a chance weirdo" She replied smiling.
"Let's go girl, you've been waiting too long to go home. Better not waste time here" He said patting her on the arm and she agreed.
Andressa walked to the door. Every step she took made her heart ache with a mix of feelings. Her eyes pooled with tears and she felt anxious. Goodness girl you are home, what's this fuss is all about. Run along and ring the damn bell! Her inner voice said to her. She inhaled a deep breath and turned her head to see that Adrian was right beside her. He nodded in a 'go ahead' motion and she pressed the door bell.
Only a few seconds passed though it felt like long for Andressa. The door opened appearing her father in front of her. She was ecstatic to see him after a very long time. The expression of his face was out of this world. He almost gasped out looking at her wide eyed.
"Papa"
"I'm home" A tear ran down her cheek.
