Chapter 5: Awakened

Scarlett

A frightening noise echoes throughout the dark silent room, immediately awakening me. My head pounds ferociously as I try placing figures in the enigmatic room ''He-hello?'' I stammer In hope for a response.

I fumble about, shaking from a recap of reality, footsteps emerse with a husky voice, ''Take her out, the stench is growing, we can't have any suspicions''

The light is switched on, immediately setting my tired eyes on fire, I crouch into the corner and nestle my face into my hands as they dragged the dead girl out of the room, she looked horrifying, a figure that would haunt you through every step, who were these monsters, to portray such inhumanity?

''Eat up'' a voice, raised in authority, speaks, clearly the leader of the ruthless gang. I look up at the man concealed in a mask and scoff, ''No''

''Eat'' he commands once more, in a much aggressive tone, how could I possibly eat in a situation like this? And food from my kidnapper?!

''NO'' I reply firmly and force my gaze to remain on the filthy ground. Shuffles are heard and suddenly a warm breath emerges near me, I move quickly, covering all spaces between my body and the wall.

His hand trails down my arm, ''Save your attitude for Prince charming princess'' his grip tightens around my wrist, ''I rule here, and if I'm not obeyed'' my wrists burned extensively due to his powerful grip, tears begin settling in my eyes, pleading for him to release me.

He drags my already weak body up as he stands and pushes me against the wall, ''Else you're next to be dragged out of this room'' he releases my wrist and orders his followers out, slamming the door once more.

I drop to the ground, scanning my bruised, bloody wrist. I stare around at the empty room I'd been placed in, not a window nor crack seemed visible.

If this were reality then I needed out, I wouldn't sit around and mope like I always did! I'd be sent back to the castle once again and that would mean losing my love too, once again. I wouldn't allow that.

I wearily stand up and search each corner, scrambling around a few times, hoping for some sought of crack or opening.

I bang and kick frustrated, at the four gloomy walls and a voice intrudes through the steel door, I quickly push my ear against the frigid item and try level best to overhear the conversation.

''Look, you need the money, we need the girl'' I could barely hear the voice, but it seemed as if he leaned closer to the door I was trapped behind, ''What if you demand more after we receive our sum?'' A man questions.

''Don't play, we know you're going to kill her sooner or later, you leave no witnesses, so let us buy her, no danger for you, no hassle'' the previous voice calmly states.

''How do I know you ain't fooling us? You might have informed a few people of my whereabouts'' my heart raced at their words, I didn't want to be sold, suddenly, being killed seemed like a way better option!

''Look, if we planned this then we would've brought the King here before we showed up, why would we be willing to pay you? And then let you get caught?'' The arguing man continued.

''I'll have to think about it, you'll get your answer by tomorrow'' that had to be the gang leader. Silence consumes their conversation and a far different voice retaliates, ''We're paying for her, so if I find one scratch or bruise, you can see yourself as a dead man, mark my words'' that voice seemed recognisable, it sent icy chills down my spine, but my position wouldn't allow it to be clear enough to make out.

The sound of leaving men soon follow approaching men, ''Chain her up, we're vacating this place by tonight! They know too much!''

I flinch at the command and gather myself as the door handle squeaks open, if I were being moved then it meant I had a chance, a chance to set my captured self free.

''Tie her up'' the two men in front of me step closer and grip my already sore wrist, tying it violently which only makes my bruise burn more, ''Her mouth too'' They wrap a piece of tape around my mouth, forcing me to remain silent.

I follow them obediently out of the steel room, knowing that retaliation would probably cost me my life, and that I had to wait for the right moment to strike.
