Scarlett

Enduring much difficulty, I finally press the door handle down, with the intention of leaving, I hear Cane's retreating footsteps, ''I guess I was right about you'' he whispers, hurt radiating through his sullen tone.

I turn back, ''Right about what?'' I didn't want to leave, even if it meant arguing with him just to be able to see his face a little longer, ''It doesn't matter'' a fake smile crosses his face, pushing away the fresh tears which laced his face.

I take a step closer, pleading for him to make me stay, ''No Cane! Enough of your silence! You've been quiet through all my questions and im sick of it!'' He continues to walk away, even now from my extensive outburst, I follow him quick paced and grab his hand, ''This is all because of you! Everything!!'' I shout frustratingly.

He turns facing me, ''Do you really want to do this right now Scarlett?!?'' He yells equally agitated. ''If not now then when?'' My tone firm and unreasonable.

''I was right about what you felt for me! Nothing! That's why you can look at me so easily and leave! I knew these three years would change a lot but I never expected it to change you in this way!!'' His breathing, heavier by the second as anger rushes through his veins.

''I felt nothing Cane? Is that what you've assumed all along? What you've thought of me all this time?! Well then I'm happy for you!'' The nerve this guy has, he was the one to ask me to leave and now he makes it seem as if I left him!

''I just knew it! You know what Scarlett? You're free to go, maybe you don't feel anything for me now, but one day you will and it will be too late then'' his gaze shifts to the floor, immediately settling anger within me.

''I don't feel anything?! You were the one that kidnapped me without letting me know it was you! You were the one so eager to get me out of this place! And yet I've lost feelings?! If you're treating me this way then how do you expect me to react!!'' My tone fully fumed, I could feel the redness consume my face.

''That's what you get for settling for the first man that came your way! Could you not wait for me! I was ready to come for you! Who knows how I pulled through those dreadful three years without you but I stayed faithful!'' He shouts breathlessly, I push his chest completely angered by his words, ''I did not!! I waited those three years for you! Like a fool!!''

He carries an amused expression on his face, ''Oh yeah, that's why those fancy wedding plans with William!'' I shrug at his words, ''Wedding plans? Are you crazy?! The night our three years were up dad handed me over to William! That's when I ran away from the castle!!!'' I scoff.

''You were kidnapped forcefully!'' He presses a supporting hand against the wall while shaking from anger, ''AFTER I ran away!!! Who would kidnap a princess in her castle!! Think!! I ran that night because I couldn't live without you! I decided to look for you even though you  didn't show!!'' I place a hand over my heated forehead, praying he would understand.

''The news of you wedding William turned up on my doorstep a month before our three years were up!!'' He clenches his fist and grinds his teeth.

''Cane! I am telling you I didn't agree to marry him!! My father probably knew you were going to come for me! Maybe that's why he spread the news without informing me, and naive as you are, you just went ahead and believed him!''

''How do you know your father did that?'' He questions irritable. I exhale loudly and brace myself for defeat, ''You know what Cane? Do as you please'' I turn around and walk towards the door with tears gracefully rolling down my cheek.

His voice seeming desperate rises from behind me, ''Scarlett we are not done talking!'' I immediately quicken my steps as his begin following. I didn't want to leave, but he didn't trust me and that absolutely had broken me. To think something so beautiful had ended all because of a baseless misunderstanding.

He pulls my hand stopping me and I instantly nudge it away, ''I'm done explaining things Cane!! It isn't worth It to argue this way and we're not getting anywhere!'' I tug my oversized t-shirt down.

''Just stop walking away!!'' He yells ear screeching, I ignore it completely devastated and continue. Suddenly I'm forced to turn around, he brushes his hand over my arms and then pushes my body against the door, my heart raced at his lips a fraction away from my own, before I knew it, his soft lips crash onto mine.
