Song: Exotic X Quincy ft. G-eazy
Her heels clacked loudly on the pristine hallways of Allegia University with confidence as her curled dark hair bounced sensually. It was a chilly day and the clouds set off a gloomy mood to the city of San Francisco.
She wore red, her favorite color. It was the color of love, sensuality, and most of all, rage. Her green eyes scanned the room skeptically as if someone or anyone knows of her plans or her intentions. From the ashes of her previous self, she raised herself from the bottom and from her past, she swore that someday, every one will know her name.
Valentina Sanchez.
Her heart was stone cold and rigid, but the curves that molded her body perfectly said so otherwise. She had just enrolled into the most prestigious university in California and it was made possible from the scholarships she applied for and the jobs she worked.
She continued walking on the beautiful campus until the hairs that stood on her neck when danger was near stopped her on her tracks.
Turning, Valentina's fear has come true. The men that have been following her because of her late father's debts has come to follow her from San Bernardino to San Francisco.
The men wore their typical black suits and their oily hair slicked black with gel. She didn't want to run in the six inch heels she recently bought from a ripoff store. Her enemies stood on the farther side from campus giving her an advantage to run and get a head start. It was tough but it's going to be possible.
Quickly taking off her shoes, Valentina began to run.
"Stop her!" the men screamed.
She couldn't let them catch her. Not when she saved so much money to go to this prestigious university.
Valentina ran as fast as she could, her legs burning. She didn't think she could find a better hiding spot but the ancient building before her. She ran through the maze of students who were looking at her crazily and fearfully at the men with guns.
The students bent to their knees and covered their heads in order to avoid being shot, but Valentina continued her pace to run.
As she was about to exit into the emergency fire exit, her body clashed with a hard figure who caught her around her waist. She only saw the man's chest and as she looked up, she was blown away.
Ironically, his features were perfect. From his hazel colored eyes, it was obvious he was of Asian and Caucasian descent. His cupid's bow were perfectly shaped and his tousled hair soft to touch.
"Are you alright?" he asked her softly, his smooth deep voice sending chills into her spine.
However, Valentina didn't have time to enjoy it as she bolted to the door once she heard the footsteps of the men who were running after her.
"Excuse me." she told him breathlessly.
"Wait!" she heard him say.
She didn't wait, and went down the stairs and out into her freedom. Valentina wanted to stop and catch her breath, yet from her years of running, she knew that she can continue to run for a few more minutes.
"It's going to be okay. You're going to be safe." she chanted to herself as she hiked her bag higher up her shoulder and shoved her heels into them.
A large hand caught her shoulder and she froze as she turned to face the owner of the large hand. It was the man she collided with from the stairwell. His lips curved into a grin before running a hand through his hair.
"You run really fast. Thank God I did track in high school." he told her, his tone light and playful.
"Good to know. I got to go." she turned and walked when she felt that the coast was clear from the goons who were chasing her. She wished her life wasn't a life of running but one day, she'll never have to because she'll be safe and she'll have her sanctuary.
She left the handsome man with the hazel eyes from where he stood. It was a shame, he was really good looking but Valentina knew she would never have time for love for what she's about to do.
"Well, well, well, Ms. Sanchez, that was quite a run you put all of us through." a familiar voice said from her side.
From the corner of her eye, Valentina could see the men who were chasing her earlier. She swore under her breath.
"I already paid you everything that my father owed. What more do you all want from me?" she asked them exasperatedly.
"You see sweetheart," the leader of the group said, "Interest accumulates. You haven't paid us the interest yet." he flashed her a rotted grin.
"I'll pay that interest next month once I get my paycheck." she promised them.
The men walked closer to her, and like a prey would do, she took a step back.
"Maybe we can decrease the amount of payment you have to pay if you'd do us a favor." the leader replied licking his lips.
Valentina knew what he implied and she shuddered to herself in disgust.
"Never in a million years, would I whore myself." she spat.
"You have no choice. We can't wait any longer." the leader shrugged as his goons zoomed in on her and grabbed both of her arms.
Valentina kicked and screamed, fear taking over her soul. She hadn't felt this horrible feeling ever since her father died and her brother imprisoned. She didn't scream for help because she knew help would never come to people of her financial status.
The men loosened their holds on her arms and she opened her eyes to see her savior throwing punches at the men and disarming them at the same time.
His movements were swift and fluid and it felt like seconds after she saw all of the goons who were chasing on the ground clutching their wounds or passed out on the hard floor.
The handsome stranger who saved her from these goons grabbed Valentina's hand and they ran together off campus and into the busy streets of San Francisco. He never loosened his grip on her hand which she was grateful for because if he did, she would have fallen from exhaustion.
After eternity, he finally stopped running. Their hands were clammy from gripping each other too tightly.
They didn't speak to each other for a few seconds since they were trying to catch their breath.
"You must be in some serious trouble if you're running away from men like them." the man commented.
"What would you know?" she replied icily as she eyed the man's outfit. From her love of fashion, Valentina can tell that he was wearing an expensive unbuttoned white shirt and a grey Armani suit paired with maroon jeans and beat up converse.
"Plenty. And the fact that those aren't your regular loan sharks." he said.
Valentina didn't reply to him as she was busy checking if most of her things were still with her.
"I'm Tristan by the way. Tristan Park." he said, extending his hand out to her.
"Valentina Sanchez." she replied taking his extended hand.
He didn't let go of her hand which made her feel strange but she didn't mind. What's wrong with talking to a handsome possibly rich stranger for a few minutes? She could score big time if she played her cards right. Valentina mused to herself.
She was amused by the laid-back posture this handsome stranger had. He looked to be about a junior in college. So he must be two years older than her then.
"Thank you for saving me back there." she said, tilting her head to the side as she gazed at him flirtatiously.
"Of course, it's not every day I could save a beautiful damsel in distress."
Valentina scoffed at how cheesy the compliment was but she kept it to herself.
"Where are you headed to now?" Tristan asked her trying to avoid any awkward silences.
"I'm about to head to work." Valentina replied as she hiked the hem of her dress a little to show off her long legs.
Tristan's eyes fled to her thighs and down to her legs. She smirked as she walked away from him and flipped her curled hair behind her. Counting down from ten, she paused in her steps when Tristan began to speak again.
"I can give you a ride there if you want!" he offered behind her.
Valentina counted to ten before giving Tristan an answer. After all, she knows how to keep men waiting for her.
"I'd love that." she replied turning her head to the side a little with a smile that spelled danger.
Tristan placed his hand on her waist and led her to his car which was only a short walk away from where they stopped running.
He led her to a black Bugatti parked up a hill which impressed her because she never knew how people in San Francisco can park their cars with the crazy uphill and downhill streets they have.
She hopped in the car with Tristan and they sped away to the the cafe that she works at. Tristan opened the windows to both sides causing Valentina's hair to fly behind her.
"So what's a beautiful girl like you running away from a bunch of gangsters?" he shouted above the noise of the wind.
"It's a long story!" Valentina shouted back.
It wasn't really a long story. Valentina Sanchez was born to a life of poverty and she barely got out of it back in her hometown at San Bernardino. Her father neglected her mother and her brother for a different woman leaving them all alone with his gambling debts, hence the goons that were chasing her.
Their life was simple and they lived day to day until her brother was wrongly accused of being the leader of a gang rape and was imprisoned. Her mother died shortly after believing that her eldest son was a rapist.
She was left to her own at the age of seventeen. She spat at her life of poverty and swore that she will never ever have to live this way again. Valentina studied hard to get into Allegia University in San Francisco with a partial scholarship and she saved enough money from selling drugs to pay most of her father's debts and to take her away from the city of San Bernardino.
She didn't know that the goons that her father owed money to followed her all the way to San Francisco to collect interest. She didn't even know how much more she owes and she wouldn't want to know.
But one thing's for sure. Valentina didn't just come to San Francisco to start a new life. She came for revenge on the person responsible for destroying her family.
"Hello? Earth to Valentina." Tristan took her out of her trance.
She's been through a lot and she didn't want to tell this handsome stranger her entire background, especially her intentions of revenge. Even the reasons of her being at San Francisco.
"My father owed money and I was left to pay for it." she replied to his question simply.
When they both finally reached their destination, Valentina unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to open the door when Tristan hand clasped around her wrist.
"You're forgetting something." he said in a serious tone.
"What..." she was about to ask before Tristan leaned his head towards her for a kiss.
Valentina smirked. Of course she expected this. No one could resist her beauty and her charisma.
She decided to play along by leaning her head close to his. Tristan smiled triumphantly, believing that another girl has fallen for his charms.
His ego deflated when Valentina placed a finger on his lip."I'll thank you someday soon." she whispered to his ear, one hand on his chest.
"Just not with a kiss." she said in a sultry tone.
And with that, she got out of the car, with her sunglasses in tow and strutted into the cafe she works in leaving Tristan speechless.
He'll be back for her.
