Kathleen set her bag down on the desk and smiled, running her fingers over the small wooden box that was in the middle of her desk. The box was tied with a ribbon with a small card on it. Aiden hadn't shown up in a month, hadn't called her, and wasn't looking for her, but from time to time he would send her messages like "you're very beautiful," "smile, love," "I miss you, love," or something another to remind her that even if she didn't see him, he was around.
Or he would send her small symbolic gifts, such as flowers with sweet messages, or her favorite chocolate. Meanwhile, when Brian needed his father, he sent Dylan, Davis, or Clinton to pick him up, and sometimes spent the night with him in his apartment.
Kathleen sat down and opened the small box. There was a small silver key inside. She picked up the card and read it with a smile.
"I miss you, my love, keep it, you'll need it tomorrow." "Aiden."
Her phone showed a message, and she looked at it sluggishly, but hurried to open it when she saw it was from Aiden.
"Love, tomorrow night at eight, I can't wait to see you, I miss you!"
"He's really cute!" Kathleen thought, leaving the message unanswered. Aiden had tried, and she was really ready to forgive him. In fact, she couldn't wait to see him, he'd kept his word, and to be honest, she missed him, too.
Kathleen smiled at her reflection. She touched lightly the small silver necklace on which hung the silver key Aiden had given her yesterday. She heard the bell and took a deep breath. Kathleen nervously touched her hair and dress, making sure everything was as it should be. She wondered why she was worried, since she had dated him before. She took another breath and walked to the door, opening it as soon as Aiden was knocking.
They stared at each other, then Aiden looked at her admiringly. He swallowed and blinked, then looked back at her face.
"This is going to be the most painful night of my life if you don't let me kiss you ..." Aiden moaned and Kathleen bit her lip, suddenly feeling strangely shy. "You look .... gorgeous, you're really beautiful, love!" she smiled, and he held out his hand, which she readily accepted. "Thanks!" he leaned down and kissed her, she didn't back away, but moaned, letting him hug her.
"I can't wait for dinner to end so I can steal you!" Aiden whispered, and Kathleen raised an eyebrow. "Steal me?" he nodded. "It's time to go back to where I belong, love, and tonight it will happen, I assure you!" he smiled, and she nodded, swallowing dryly.
"What do you mean?" Aiden shook his head mysteriously. "Have patience, my love!"
"Aiden, I'm not sure ..." his hand slid down her thigh. "Trust me, my love, we will be there soon!" she could feel his smile.Aiden had done exactly what he had said. As soon as dinner was over and her father and she gave their little speeches, Aiden pulled her aside, blindfolded her, and now they were both in his car, on their way to God knows where. "Aiden ..." she shifted nervously in her seat. "A little more, love, just a few minutes, I promise, if you don't come back to me after that, I won't interfere in your life anymore!" her heart pounded nervously and she bit her inner lip. She nodded and tried to relax, his fingers gripping her hand gently, and she smiled slightly.
After a few minutes, as Aiden said, Kathleen felt the car slow and stop. She heard Aiden's door, and seconds later she felt the night breeze as hers opened. Aiden took her hands and helped her out.
He wrapped one arm around her waist as he held her arms with the other and led her somewhere.
"Are you ready, love?" his deep manly voice stroked her cheek and sent soothing shivers down her spine. Kathleen nodded, and Aiden released her, walking behind her. She felt his fingers in her hair as he untied the knot of his scarf, careful not to pluck it.
She blinked a few times, getting used to the bright light she was facing.
"What is this?" Kathleen stood in the middle of a field full of all sorts of heavy construction machinery, lit by countless huge spotlights. The field was fenced off, and in front of it was a huge sign that read "AJ Ins Building Site" in huge black letters.
"Come" Aiden took her hand again and led her between several machines. He pointed to a huge metal table strewn with all sorts of rolled-up papers. One of them was crucified, and its corners were attached with a few pebbles and a box at the other end.
Kathleen looked at the huge drawing and her eyes fell on the title. "Jackson Manor." She looked at him questioningly, and Aiden smiled, bending down and placing his fingers on the drawing.
"After Brian, this is my greatest masterpiece. I worked almost around the clock so I could finish it on time." he looked at her and smiled. "Welcome to our new home, my love!" he cupped her face and rested his forehead on hers. "I never cheated on you, Linda helped me buy the place, so she was in my office." Kathleen gasped and shivered. "I wanted it to be a surprise, but I didn't expect you to find us and decide that I could even think of another woman when I had already found the perfect one." he looked up, wiping away a tear that rolled down her cheek. "These few months, with you and our son, have shown me how empty my life has been and how I've wasted my time. You two have become the meaning of my life, of my whole world, Kathleen." he let go of her cheeks and bent down, picking up the box. "And last month, without being able to see your face, without being able to touch you, falling asleep in the empty bed in my lonely apartment, they showed me how much I love you and that I want to grow old with you ..." Kathleen had the feeling that she suffocated as she listened to his confessions, describing her emotions and feelings as well. "I love you, Kathleen, every time I look at you, every time I kiss or touch you, every morning when I wake up and hear your voice, in which those eyes scold me for falling asleep and I'm late, or I'm lazy, I'm falling in love with my son's mother more and more! "Kathleen could no longer contain her smile and tears. Aiden opened the box and her eyes widened with excitement. "I want this story to never end, love. I want to see the same look and smile every morning when I wake up." he pulled out the ring, the diamond gleaming pink in the spotlight, and Aiden carefully placed it on her ring finger. "But when I look into those eyes, I want to know that I'm looking into the eyes of my wife, not my girlfriend." she sobbed slightly, noticing the redness on his face. "Marry me, love?" Aiden looked at her uneasily, biting his lip nervously, and Kathleen felt the need to hug him, to reassure him.
She looked at the ring, then at Aiden, and threw herself on his neck without a word, just hugged him and kissed him passionately, sobbing as her tears wet his face as well. Aiden hugged her tightly, lifting her and placing her on the table, on the stretched drawing, without interrupting the kiss. He lifted the hem of her dress slightly to fit between her thighs and pressed her against the table until her back touched the hard surface. Kathleen moaned, her breasts rising rapidly against his, her heart refusing to slow as his hands traced her body, his tongue fighting hers as he examined her mouth.
"Is that 'yes'?" he broke the kiss, looking at her thirstily, and Kathleen nodded, unable to answer otherwise.
