Halloween Bonus Chapter: Bigfoot Princess and Purple Stegosaurus
This is another bonus chapter set about 10 years after the events of SLB, at which point Robin and Tyler are married and have two boys, Alex and Owen, together. It's not very dramatic, but it's cozy and fluffy. And I enjoy getting to write some domestic fluff of Robin and Tyler just being happy and established as a couple. I hope you enjoy reading it as well!

"You're not peaking, are you, Daddy?" Alex's squeaky voice echoed from upstairs.
"I think he may be cheating!" Owen tuned in, even squeakier.
Robin swiftly put his hands over his eyes again, as he may have been disobeying commands in favor of reading a work email. Upon arriving home, he'd been ordered by two bossy five-year-olds to sit down in the living room and wait with his eyes covered. Tyler and the boys had together been working intensely on their Halloween costumes all week and had spoken in hushed tones every time Robin came close. Apparently, the costumes were classified as top secret.
And today, just before the annual Halloween party at Donna and Kevin's house, it was time for the big reveal. The boys would soon make dramatic entrances in their respective inventive costumes.
"I'm covering my eyes, I promise!" Robin yelled back.
"Are we sure we believe him..." Tyler's voice whispered conspiratorially from the landing. There was an all-to-familiar tune to his husband's voice that told Robin that he may have a mischievous plan brewing. Tyler often did.
"I don't believe him!" Owen immediately piped up, always keen to agree with his Dada.
"Me neither," Alex agreed, always keen to one-up his brother. "He's a liar!"
"Maybe we need to blindfold him to be sure," Tyler suggested. The boys responded to the idea with a resounding cavalcade of cheers. Robin supposed he had no choice but to be blindfolded. Even if he tried to protest, he was outnumbered.
Still covering his eyes, to prove that he was in fact not lying—even if he had been lying a little bit—Robin awaited his destiny. A pitter-patter of steps signaled someone coming down the stairs. Judging by the heaviness of the thumps, it was probably Tyler.
"I wasn't looking," Robin mumbled.
"I don't care if you were, cutie," Tyler replied, placing a kiss on Robin's forehead as he came close. "But the boys weren't convinced, so blindfold it is! No peaking allowed!"
Soft velvety fabric was placed over Robin's face. As he opened his eyes, blackness obscured the room around him.
"Is this... the naughty blindfold?" Robin asked, the blush rising on his face hidden by the fabric. If he wasn't mistaken, this particular blindfold had been part of a set that also included handcuffs and various feathers. It was made for a very different kind of playtime.
"It's the only blindfold we have," Tyler countered. "It can double as a costume reveal blindfold."
"Couldn't you just have used a towel?"
"You would have been able to see through that! And this one is easier to tie."
Robin couldn't really dispute those arguments. Hopefully, the kids would be too busy showcasing their costumes to question the blindfold's origin story. "It smells like lube," he mumbled grumpily.
"Well, you only have to wear it for a few minutes," Tyler countered, leaning in for a kiss. "The kids will tell you when you can take it off. We only got a few finishing touches to do and then we'll be down."
Hurried steps got fainter as Tyler skipped out of the room and up the stairs, although it appeared that he paused for a moment to grab a handful of jelly pumpkins for the giant cauldron on the living room table. Robin sank back onto the couch. With the blindfold turning the world black, there was nothing else to do. All he could do was listen to the noises from his family upstairs.
Excited kid yells. Encouraging dad words followed by a light shush. Low whispers creeping closer. Muted steps on the creaking stairs. Rustling from something being dragged down multiple steps.
Did one of these costumes involve a freaking tail? No wonder they had taken so long for Tyler to construct.
Small quick feet on hardwood floor. The characteristic thud followed by a thump from Tyler's larger feet, as the prosthetic foot landed slightly harder than the other one.
"Daddy! Daddy, look now!" was the cue Robin had been waiting for. The kids' words were law in this house. At least when it came to costume reveals. Perhaps not when it came to asking for marshmallow fluff directly from the jar for breakfast.
Eager to inspect the children's costumes, Robin fiddled with the ties of the blindfold. A towel would have been so much easier to remove...
"Let me help you," Tyler offered, stroking his hand through Robin's hair before skillfully untying the knot in the back. As the cloth fell into Robin's lap, Tyler jumped to the side. "Tada!" He swung his hand out in a showman-esque manner to let the kids behind him take center stage.
The sight that awaited Robin was even more fantastical than he could have imagined. He didn't know where to even begin to decode what he was looking at. There were too many colors, patterns, and expressions to take in all at once.
"Daddy, I'm a Bigfoot Princess!" Alex twirled to showcase his fur-covered costume, complete with huge feet that covered his leg braces neatly, a glimmering tiara between fluffy ears, and a billowing white tutu. His face was painted to resemble a nose with sprouting whiskers.
The boy kept spinning, reveling in how the skirt flared out around him.
"And I'm a purple Stegosaurus!" Owen took a lap around the room to let Robin get a better look at his costume made of purple-sprayed cardboard scales—the boy's favorite color—which slithered down to the floor where it formed a long tail with a club.
So there was indeed a tail! And a damn impressive one!
"Grrrgrrrrr." Owen crawled up on the couch beside Robin, making his best dinosaur impression. And really, who was to say that wasn't exactly what a Stegosaurus would have said?
The purple stegosaurus bit Robin lightly on the arm while still making his terrifying sound. "Ahhh, I'm getting attacked." Robin played along, flopping down so Owen could climb atop of him. The closer encounter allowed Robin to see the meticulously painted scales on the boy's face, each one tinted in lilac and mint green.
"Did you do their makeup?" He asked Tyler, while still play-fighting with the persistent Stegosaurus. Meanwhile, Alex had taken to performing Bigfoot The Musical on the stage, aka the carpet, in front of his dads. It seemed the self-composed song he was belting out was called "Look at my big feet".
"I did," Tyler admitted, moving closer to make himself heard through the high-pitched child song. "Luke showed me how to do it though, and he also helped with some details for the costumes," he added, referring to his friend from high school who had made a career out of styling drag show artists. Considering the extravagant nature of the kids' costumes, that answer did make total sense.
"It's really good." Robin admired the stitching on the backplates of the dinosaur that was currently devouring his left leg.
"You need to pretend, Daddy!" Owen insisted, growing tired of his parents trying to have a normal conversation during a ferocious dinosaur attack. "You should scream!"
"Ahhhhh" Robin tried. "The dinosaur got my leg!"
"You'll need a fake one like Dada," Alex suggested, pausing his song and dance routine.
"Well, it's a good thing there is such prosthetic technology these days when we got such scary dinos in the house." Tyler lifted Owen from Robin, letting him fly like a pterodactyl through the air before landing on the carpet next to his brother where an epic battle of Stegosaurus vs Bigfoot began.
"So I guess the kids are all set costume-wise, but what are we wearing?" Robin asked, feeling like one of those hapless husbands from the commercials who counted on his spouse doing all the emotional labor of planning. Although, he was in charge of the kids' medical appointments and schoolwork, so he supposed he did his share.
"Don't worry, I have a plan," Tyler assured him. "I didn't have time to make any new ones for us, but luckily, I found some old ones in the basement." He handed Robin a familiar uniform in green and red from a tote bag while pulling out a black and gray one with a cape for himself.
Their old Batman and Robin costumes. The ones they've worn during their first Halloween together.
"Are you sure this one still fits?" Robin asked, not quite liking the snugness of the tights.
"You've bulked up a bit," Tyler said, feeling up Robin's bicep. While Robin was hardly a muscular specimen, accompanying Tyler for workouts during the last few years had caused him to fill out his frame. "But I think the fabric is stretchy enough. And I will enjoy seeing your cute ass in them."
"I guess I can try," Robin conceded, encouraged by Tyler's enthusiasm. Perhaps that naughty blindfold would even come to use if Tyler was exposed to his butt in tights. Donna and Kevin had offered to take the kids for the night, so it was the perfect time for an adult version of trick or treat.
"And I also get an opportunity to break out my Batman imitation again!" Tyler added, taking a deep breath before growling out: "I'm Batman."
"Dada! Do that again!" The kids bellowed, apparently interrupted from their epic fight by their dad's personification of the masked defender of Gotham.
"I'm Batman," Tyler said again, even lower this time. Then, he jumped up from the couch, continuing his imitation as he chased the laughing boys around.
Robin thumbed the costume in his lap. Perhaps he should try it to see if it still fit. It was twelve years ago since he first wore it and while much had changed—illustrated by the holler of children filling the house—one thing was still the same: he was head over heels infatuated with Tyler Caster.
Happy Halloween everyone!
