Nightmare 13: Resilient
Recap:
At first, you thought Smiley ripped out Jeff's memories in order to make it easier for you to kill him. Now, you realized that it would be even harder that way. Smiley knew that Jeff would be like that if he didn't remember anything, and he wanted you to suffer.
"I'm sorry, Jeff," you said.
"Sorry for what?" he asked.
You leaned over silently and gripped a syringe in your hand.
-+-
Jeff looked over at the syringe in your hand. You considered injecting it into him, but stopped yourself. It reminded you too much of what he did to you that one night.
Instead, you decided that you would use it on Smiley. You felt like he did more wrong to you. He was more insane than Jeff, after all. He just used a slow approach.
"Why do you have that?" Jeff asked.
"Because we're going to stop Smiley," you said.
"Wait, I can't kill someone," he replied. "Is that was you meant?"
"He's an enemy," you muttered. "And you used to kill people anyway, so get over it."
He looked into your eyes and sighed in disbelief. He shook his head and looked around the room again before carrying on.
"The doctor guy?" he asked.
"Yeah," you said. "It's the guy that was in here. If we take him down, there will be nothing in our way and we can leave here for good."
You noticed Jeff's old hoodie on the floor near the wall. You walked over to it and picked it up.
"What's that?" Jeff asked.
"Just a hoodie," you answered.
You slipped the blood stained jacket on over your shirt and put the syringe in the pocket.
"Why is there blood-"
"You need to stop asking questions. I'll explain everything as soon as we get out of here," you declared.
"O-Okay," he said.
As you walked down the hallway with him, you told him the plan. He was to wait at the top of the stairs while you went to go talk to Smiley. As soon as you gave him the signal, you would both run out the front door and try to find the main road.
"Stay here," you whispered, opening the door to the hallway.
You walked out casually into the kitchen and saw Smiley drinking a cup of coffee.
"Hello, (y/n)," he greeted. "How was your talk?"
"I did it," you stated. "I killed him for you."
"Oh, did you now?" Smiley said as his cheeks rose.
If only he would step a little closer to you so that you could pull out the syringe. It would be too hard to get him at a distance. Luckily, in order for him to reach the stairs, he would have to walk around you.
"C-Can I leave now?" you asked.
"Sure, but why don't you help me clean up first?" he asked as he smirked.
He set down the mug and started to walk closer to you.
Just a couple steps further...
"You know, (y/n)," Smiley muttered, stopping dead in his tracks. "That syringe in your pocket won't do any good at killing someone."
He saw right through you, but how did he know about the syringe?
"I know Jeff isn't dead," he said. "Don't lie again, or I might take away one of your chances."
You glared at him.
"Anyways, that liquid has a whole different effect on people," he chuckled. "Would you like to know what it does?"
You gave him a silent answer.
He smiled wide as he replied, "It's the cure to amnesia."
You widened your eyes.
This was an opportunity. You could restore your memories. You could remember everything that happened over those two years and more, but would it help? What if that really was a terrible time in your life?
"You have a choice to make, (y/n)," Smiley said. "You can either use it on yourself and regain everything that you've lost, or you can use it on Jeff and have him kill me."
You didn't know what to do. It was either your life or your memories.
"Why don't you go back to your boyfriend now and discuss the plan?" Smiley mocked, giving you a huge smile. He shuffled over to the door and locked the deadbolt.
You shook your head as you turned around and walked back over to the stairs. Jeff gave you a horrified look, as he had heard the whole conversation. You closed the door behind you and walked down the stairs.
"I don't understand how he knew I had a syringe," you said.
"Cameras?" Jeff questioned as he followed you.
"Wouldn't doubt it..." you sighed.
"So... That stuff can return memories," he said.
"Yeah," you muttered. "Why? You planning on stealing it and using it for yourself?"
You were both then and the bottom of the stairs.
"Of course not!" he replied. "That would be a stupid decision."
"I don't know what to do," you said, noticing the horrid smell again.
"Well," Jeff said as he watched you take a mask from the table. "Who's memories do you think are more valuable?"
You handed him a mask, which he gladly took.
"I don't know," you muttered. "I think I'm going to save it for later. I'll use it when I absolutely know what to do."
"That's smart," Jeff replied.
"I guess I should explain some things to you now," you said.
"Please," he begged.
You walked over to a chair in the corner and sat down. Jeff followed.
"I should really find you something else to wear..." you mumbled.
"Oh, right," he said.
You got up and went back into the "surgery" room. Over in the corner near the spot where his jacket had been was the rest of his clothes. You picked up his bloody shirt and pants and brought them back over to him.
"Thanks," he muttered.
He walked into a random room and changed. When he got back, you gave him more information.
"If we try to leave, he'll just find us. That's what he's done in the past," you said.
"S-So what are our options?" Jeff asked.
If only you could find a better way to get rid of Smiley. Maybe you wouldn't even have to kill him. You sure didn't want to. You liked staying back and keeping the blood off your hands.
"I honestly don't know," you said. "If you haven't already figured it out, he wants me to kill you."
"You aren't going to do that, right?" he questioned. He seemed slightly scared.
There was no way you could kill someone.
"Of course not," you muttered. "I don't even think I can kill Smiley."
Jeff looked around the room and started going through some of the tools on the tray. He picked up one that looked like a miniature chainsaw and hit a button on the side. He threw it across the room when it made a loud noise and the blades started spinning around.
"Are you scared, Jeff?" you asked him.
He waited a moment. "No," he lied.
"Do you trust me?" you questioned.
He didn't respond.
An explosion rang from another room. You and Jeff turned in every direction, scared that there was an unwelcome guest.
Laughter echoed down a hallway and made its way into the room. You faced the direction it came from and saw a shadow walking towards you.
"Who are you?!" you yelled at it, ready to grab Jeff's arm and run with him.
The creature stepped into the light and you immediately recognized it.
"Well, that's a nice welcome," laughed the cone nosed boy.
