Chapter Seventeen

A/N: This chapter is horrendously short... seriously guys when I posted this before why did no one yell at me???? XD Oh well

~Undertaker's POV~

Though Willow had resigned to stay, I could sense her unease. She was worried her presence was putting everyone else at risk. We gathered in the young Earl's study to talk strategy. In order to keep her with me, I had to defeat those damned creatures so she wouldn't run off on her own.

"How exactly are we supposed to fight something we can't see?" The young disgruntled Earl asked in annoyance, he wasn't used to handling foe that didn't fall so easily. He was a clever lad that could outsmart nearly any enemy. This sense of helplessness was doing a number on him.

"Willow can see them." I pointed.

"Lot of good that does us when she can't speak." Ciel snapped.

The fey creature sitting beside me shrank at his voice. She blamed herself enough as it is. Rage boiled within me at the boy's ungratefulness. Willow saved his life, had she not been here he would have been ripped apart in his sleep.

Deciding to intervene I turned to the shadowy dark butler, "What do you know of Polongs Master Butler?"

"I know they're evil demonic spirits that can only be summoned by humans through a violent mur-." The demon paused as he'd caught what he'd said. "They can only be summoned by humans."

"A human is behind this?" Ciel asked in awed rage. The young Earl believed he was bested by a human.

"Not necessarily." I snickered, "A human must summon and control the Polong, but humans are such weak-minded beings, they can easily be tricked with promises of grandeur."

"How do we stop the damned things?" Ciel growled losing his patience.

Sebastian smirked, "Find the human and kill it that will sever the blood tie."

"Sounds easy enough." Ciel grumbled bitterly.

Willow shook her head furiously in silent protest.

"We have to be able to get close to the human." I noted, "With possibly more than one invisible guard, that may prove to be difficult."

"You think there's multiple?" The butler grimaced, "Humans are such vile creatures."

Indeed. In order to summon a Polong, a human must first commit a most gruesome and violent murder worthy enough to tempt the evil spirits. It must be cruel agonizing and completely evil. To summon multiple, each murder must be more sinister than the last. Even if our first target was a mere human, it's quite possible their tainted soul left lasting side effects.

Humans are easily corrupted by darkness and evil.
