6

Before I begin driving, I plug the AUX cord into my phone and the Tahoe to listen to my Spotify playlist. Once I hit play on Spotify, I begin the second half of our road trip to the Grand Canyon.

"I searched through the Earth for something that could satisfy
A peace for the hurt I had buried deep inside
Knees on the floor, I finally found everything I needed
You lifted my soul and opened up my eyes

And I never knew anything lasts forever
Till I found You, till I found You
I never dreamed anything could be better
Till I found You, till I found You

You're rewriting my story
And I'm brand new like a morning
Oh, I never knew anything lasts forever
Till I found You
Till I, till I found You"

6 HOURS LATER

Ty slowly enters the Grand Canyon National Park. "We're here!" I shout to wake up my two brothers. Lee is my brother from another mother... don't argue with me.

Soon he is parking the Tahoe, so we can walk around the park to mark this trip off our bucket lists. I open the trunk and receive my scarf and coat as well as the guys' coats. Reed and Lee take off running when I hand them their coats.

"Where are they going?" I question Ty.

He shrugs.

I roll my eyes. "Boys," I mutter to myself. "You better not leave me! I am not being here by myself." I threaten and point a finger at him accusingly.

"I would never do that, Harp." He says quietly and shoves his hands in his front pockets.

It seems like my soul saddens at his words, yet my heart skips a beat. I shut the trunk and lock the Tahoe. I glance at Ty and begin walking inside the park. "I guess this gives us time to talk, yeah?"

"I don't want to ruin this trip for you. We can talk another time."

"So, you have bad news for me?" I question.

Ty shakes his head. "No. No. That's not what I meant."

"Then, what do you mean, Ty?" I ask and stop walking.

He sighs and puts his head down. "I'm a coward," he mumbles.

"What?"

He looks up and captures my eyes with his. "I'm a coward. I was so jealous when Blaze starting talking to you and flirted with you. I was so used to having you all to myself and I loved it. I've liked you since the summer before we started high school. I wanted to ask you out, but I chickened out. I didn't want to mess up our friendship and I didn't know how to develop that into a relationship. I know you said that you didn't want a boyfriend until after graduation, but I couldn't wait that long to tell you how I feel. I really like you, Harp." He admits and gently brushes a fraction of hair that fell in front of my face. "Please, say something. I've been waiting four years." He chuckles nervously.
