Almost perfect rythm with the R's in the tittle, stupid sewers that have no name starting with an R.
Now, this chapter is intense yet fluffy so be prepared to cry and die. (Pls don't die)

Water dripped from the top of the rabbit hole. Mono looked around while tapping his fingers, trying to ignore the awkward silence between him and Six. Mono spotted broken twigs, twisting roots, jagged rocks pointing from the sides of the cave and onld scratch marks from the rabbits. He gave a silent sigh, before stealing a glance at Six. She was curled up into a sort of ball, rubbing her feet with her hands. Mono felt a pang of saddness for the girl. Who knows how long she has been trapped behind that door? Or how many horrific things she has seen.
Mono shook his head. "Hey," he softly quizzed, "are you okay?" Stupid question Mono, clearly she is not fine, he mentally slapped himself. Six lofted her head to look at Mono, her mouth flat as she shrugged. Her black hair reaching to her shoulders with her fringe covering her eyes. I will take that as a no. Mono nodded before looking away. Awkward. Mono fiddled with his thumbs, avoiding looking at the girl. It is me or is it unnaturaly hot in here.
Mono pulled at his collar of his jacket, trying to loosen it and get some air. Glancing at Six, it also seemed like she was warm, as she had uncurled herself keeping her eyes on the floor. "Odd," Mono silently whispered making sure Six didn't hear. But despite his efforts Six lifted her head up in confusion. "Oh, I'm not talking about you. It's just... it was cold a few seconds ago and now it feels as if someone stuffed me in a chamber with a bunch of other kids." Mono drastically explained. Six tilted her head. Mono slapped his forhead and laughed at his own stupidity, "sorry, I mean stuffy. It feels oddly stuffy in here." Understanding, Six nodded her head. "Wonder whats causing it?" Mono rhetorically asked.
A few metres down the tunnel, the snapping of twigs echoed through the tunnel. Jolting in their seats, Mono and Six turned their heads in that direction. Six gave a shaking breath before turning her gaze another direction to check for anything else. The rushing of a small shadow not too far from her made Six squeek. Mono spun his head to Six. She covered her mouth with her hands, shaking. Before Mono could ask a thing, Six pointed in the direction of the small body. It was hunched as seemed to be nibbling on a seed.
In quick, quite movements, Mono gently grabbed Six on the wrist and pulled her next to him. Attemtping to hide from the shadowed being. When Six was safely next to Mono, Mono gave a breath. The creature straightened up. Its big rounded ears twitching, while the tip of its assumed muzzle, sniffed. Silently freaking out, he slowly moved his free hand that was not holding Six's wrist, towards his pocket. The creature slowly and menacingly turned its gaze towards the two. Revelling its blood red eyes. Mono could feel Six pull at his sleve in fear. He rapidly shoved his hand into his pocket and yanked out his torch, shining it upon the beast.
A rat. A loud hissing noice came from its toothy mouth. It covered its eyes with its pink paws, its fur raising in disorientation. The rat is a big beast, twice as tall as the two. It scurried off into the depths off the cave. Mono sighed in releif, "close one." He turned his head to Six to check if she was okay. His eyes widened as a bigger rat towered the two. Mono screamed before tugging Six behind him. Mono glanced behind him, immediately regretting his decision. Rats, fatter than a bowling ball, snapped after the two. They squealed and hissed, each hunger than the next. The rabbit hole rushed past Mono's eyes.
He let go of Six's wrist to allow easier running for the two. He secretly whished he could hole her hand again to calm his racing heart. Don't panic, don't panic. His breath bcame ragged and hitched every moment or two. His vision started to become blurry, clouded by black spots. Before Mono knew it a root had caught his foot and he fell right on his face. His mask now covered with dust. Beside him, Six stopped but not to help him, rather to look back at the fleeing rats. Mono took a deep breath, heaving himself up before meeting the ground again. Twisting his body around Mono looked at his foot. It was fully entangled around the roots.
Mono could hear Six sigh. He glanced over to her direction, her face giving off this 'really' apeal. "Ey, you think I intentoinanly did this?" Mono remarked, throwing his hands in the air. Six seemed to do a motion that related to the rolling of eyes. She crouched by Monos ankle and started to prod at the roots. Mono groaned in annoyance. "Today is a great day. What do you think Six?" He sarcastically asked Six. During her untangling process, she shrugged. Six kept pulling at the roots before it made an unbearable crying noise that rung in their ears. Six and Mono desperately covered their ears to block out the noise. However, it didn't subsid.
With his ears covered, Mono saw his ankle was free and bounded up. He tapped his elbow on Six's elbow to get her attention. Six looked at him with this agonized face of pain. Mono felt a pang of guilt, despite him being in the same pain as her. Mono cocked his paperbag head in a certain direction, trying to signal 'let's go this way.' Six nodded and brushed past Mono to hurry away from the noise. Mono followed closely. The two rushed through the cave, almost full on sprinting.
The deeper the two seemed to walk through the rabbit hole, the more collapsed and overgrown it appeared. Mono felt shivers go down his spine. Still covering their ears, the two failed to notice, octopus like tentacles of roots waver behind them. Dust from the roof slowly fell down. A small pile falling on Six's nose. She silently sneezed, as Mono could not hear a thing, and shook her head causing her to turn around slightly. Her mouth widned as she froze. Within seconds she glanced at Mono and mouthed 'RUN'. Mono swiflty gazed back whatching the roots try to grab him. He leaped out of the way and started to bolt behind Six.
It felt uncomfortable to run with his hands covering his ears, but he delt with it due to not wanting to lose his hearing. The two sped past thousands of roots as they whipped at them. Mono's eyes widened as he and Six came to a dead end. Mono skidded to a halt, making a puffy cloud of brown at his feet. Six turns to face the thrashing roots while Mono franticly looked around. His mind then clicked. The dead end was actually a type of drain cover. The cover was rusty and old and appeared to have four symbols surpunding its curcular edge.
Painfully moving one of his hands from his ears, Mono pressed a symbol. Nothing. Pressed the other. Nothing again. Pressed another one. It illuminated. Gonna have to guess the order... quickly. Mono looked at the symbol before finding a similarity in another symbol. He pressed that one and it lit up. He pressed the next one with a similarity and then the last one. The rusty cover screached before slightly turning enough for him and Six to slip through. Letting his hand leave his ear, Mono grapped Six on the wrist again before yaking her through the small side with him. Just as Six was last the cover slammed shut with a click.
Cautiously, Mono lowered his hands from his ears, relieved when no hissing was hitting his ear drums. Six seeing Mono relaxed, made her relax and lower her hands too. Six looked around herself, her face contorted in uncertainty. Mono soflty spoke up, "were most likely in a drain system. Possibly leads into the city a few kilometres from here. We should probably start walking." Six nodded, following Mono. Moni saw Six cring as the dirty water splashed under her feet. He had to admit it smelt like rotten fish, and the water was extremely cold which made the air cold.
Glad for his many layers, Six wasn't so lucky. Her skin covered in goosebumps, her hands rubbing up and down her arms. She shivered slightly with every step, her breath almost becoming visible. Another stab of guilt shot through Mono. It perplexed him. It wasn't even his fault it was cold, yet he could only feel pity for the girl next to him. Uttering at himself in anger, Mono slipped his trench coat off. This revealed his long sleeved brown shirt and dark brown long legged pants. He genlty tapped on Six's shoulder, satching her attention. Mono pushed his coat infront of Six avoiding her gaze. From the corner of his eye, Six gave a small smile. Six then surprised Mono as she queitly murmered, "thank you." Swiftly she slipped into the coat, the sleeves overly handing over her hands. Deciding to not pressure Six into talking more, as it seemed to hurt her, he walked on, a secret smile on his face.
A few hours past, and the two continued walking. Six started to lag behind. Mono couldn't blame her. She has sore feet and she had to run from rats and creepy roots on a ruff surface, and now she has to walk in infested waters. Her wounds are definitely going to become infected. There it was, a pang of guilt stung him. Stop it stupid brain! A sudden soft, muffled out light caught him off gaurd and blinded his eyes. Lifting his arms up Mono looked for the source. Above him was a drain cover leading out of the sewer. Joy overpowered Mono as he rapidly soved the cover off and heaved himself out of the stinky drain. It wasn't much better on the surface, but Mono would rather smell familiar smog than rotten fish.
Helping Six up, the two looked at where they were. Rough tar roads were unfoot, while buildings towered them. Windows were smashed in every wonky building with televisions left buzzing. Seems abandond. Yet I can never tell. Looking at Six, she seemed to stare at a point in the sky. A sharp building that resembled the signal tower. "You need to go there?" Mono asked, pointing at the tower. Six nodded. She gazed at Mono. He sighed, "well, its on my way to the boats I guess, so you can tag along if you want." Six appeared shocked but happy. She tugged at Mono's coat that surounded her body.
"You wanna hold on to my coat for now?" Mono grinned, unknown to Six. The girl looked down at her feet and nodded. "Okay then. Hold onto it until we find something for you." Mono reassured. Six slightly perked her head up. This intrigued Mono, "Do you already have something?" Six lifted her hand and wavered it side to side. Mono leaned on his back leg, raising his hand to his chin to think, "So you possibly have something, but most likely the Hunter guy gave it away." Mono shifted his eyes to behind Six, clicking his fingers together. "I know exactly where all lost things go," Mono started before pointing to behind Six. Six turned her head, looking at an overgrown building. Mono finished, "the Orphanage."
