Chapter 7: Jessica's Birthday and Our Wedding Day

Today was an awaiting day of full on anxiety for Jessica. It was her birthday, which means she was going to be spending the day with her family and friends, but also her wedding day with Evan, which had her nerves on edge.

They decided to have a church wedding with reception to follow at the lake close to her house.

7:00 a.m.
Evan and Jessica's house

Evan decided to let her sleep in before the whole day of fun and festivities start, knowing that Sarah was going to make sure all the details were perfect.

Evan was busy, making breakfast as the doorbell rang. He answered it as he seen Sarah standing there.

"Hey!" Sarah said

"You're bright and chipper this morning."

"Yes I am, but I would be too if I was getting married to you."

"Well, I've only got my heart for one woman."

"Well, I'm gay so Jessica has nothing to worry about."

"What are you cooking?"

"Eggs and waffles."

"Well, I was just coming by to give you this present for Jessica."

"What is it?"

"Lingerie."

"Seriously?"

"She needs something to wear on your honeymoon."

"Jessica is gorgeous in anything and perfect in every single way. She doesn't need fancy clothes or makeup to make her look beautiful, she's already perfect without it."

"Okay, well I have to go pick up some things like hair supplies and makeup."

"Alright."

"See you after while."

"Okay. I can't wait to see you gals all fancy." Evan started laughing.

Evan went back to the stove and plated her food and set it up all nice.

He made his way up to their bedroom and opened the door while balancing the breakfast tray in the other as he seen Jessica peacefully slumbering.

He crawled in beside of her as he moved her golden locks away from her shoulder to kiss the bare skin that was exposed through the thin spaghetti strapped nightgown.

As he was about to get up, Jessica turned over to see him looking at her.

"Morning handsome."

"Good morning baby."

"Well, two exciting events in one day."

"Happy birthday Jessica."

"Aww baby... Thank you."

"And I can't wait to marry you."

"You're marrying an old woman."

"No, I'm marrying a woman who is perfect in every single way."

"I'm old."

"Far from it baby." Evan said as he caressed her face.

...

Evan and Jessica ate their breakfast in peace, enjoying it while it lasts as he presented her with a new gift.

"Oh, it's beautiful baby."

"The traditional values of a wedding ceremony consists of something and I seen it and wanted you to have it."

"It's gorgeous darling." Jessica said as she admired her new necklace, a diamond pendant in the shape of a teardrop.

"And one of these days, I want to get you a ring that matches it."

"But I love my ring you gave me already."

"You deserve more Jess."

"I already have everything I need and want. I have my children, grandchildren, you and our whole lives right here."

"You know? Since it's four twenty. Would you like to celebrate?"

"You mean by me smoking a joint with you?"

"Yeah!"

"No!"

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want to be high and have the munchies during our ceremony."

"What about after?"

"No, because after you'll be high on something else." Jessica smirked as she took out her clothes to go shower.

"You're damn right." Evan said as Jessica laughed.

...

The moment came to where Jessica was getting ready at the church with her girls as her nerves plagued her.

"Mama?" Hannah questioned her as Sarah curled her hair.

"Yes?"

"Are you okay?" Shura asked her.

"Nervous."

"Don't be. Just focus on something else."

"I wish it were that easy."

"Here honey, drink this." Sarah said as she tried handing her a small glass of vodka.

"I'm not drinking in front of my kids and grandchildren."

"Hold on." Sarah said as she went to get Evan as he seemed like he was the only one who calmed her frazzled nerves.

"Hey!"

"Jessica is on the edge of having a pure anxiety attack. She's nervous as I don't know what and we need you to come calm her down." Sarah said to him.

"She's been like this for several days now."

"Come talk to her."

"Okay." Evan said.

Sarah and Evan walked into the bridal room as Shura was finishing her mom's hair and Hannah was doing her makeup.

"Mom, I have run and get more bobby pins and hair spray." Shura said as Hannah knew Evan needed to ease their mom's fears.

"Plus, I need new foundation." Hannah said as they communicated with their eyes.

"Alright, go on babies.''

At that moment, everyone left. She and Evan were the only ones in the room.

"You look incredible babe." Evan said, scaring Jessica.

"Goodness, you scared me. What are you doing in here?"

"The girls said you had some worries about the wedding."

"I'm going to hurt Sarah." Jessica sighed.

"Do you want to talk about them?"

"I might have had a few, but I know you're not like the other men I had in my life and out of two of them, I had three beautiful children."

"I'm fine now honey and so, go get ready for the ceremony and I'll see you later.''

"Jess?"

"Evan, I'm fine. Sarah just thinks there is always something wrong with me."

"I love you baby." Evan says as he kissed the top of her head.

''I love you too sweetheart." Jessica said as he left.

...

They were now standing at the alter and it was a very emotional ceremony as Evan said his vows.

"I take thee Jessica to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for rich or poorer, for sickness and health, to have and to hold from this day forward till death do us part.'' Evan said

"I take thee Evan to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for rich or poorer, for sickness and health, to have and to hold from this day forward till death do us part.'' Jessica said as she smiled at him.

"Now for the rings." The preacher said

"Evan, repeat after this."

"With this ring, I be wed."

"With this ring, I be wed." Evan said as he slipped her wedding on her finger.

"Jessica, repeat after me, with this ring, I be wed."

"With this ring, I be wed." Jessica said as she slipped his ring on his finger.

"You have said your vows, yoir promises to one another, exchanged rings. Now, here's the best part. I now announce you as man and wife. Evan you may kiss your bride." The preacher said as Evan pulled Jessica gently to him and kissed her bridal style as their family and friends cheered.

"May I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Peters." The preacher said as they cheered and whooped as Evan and Jessica walked down the aisle with the men and women walking behind them.

...

Their reception was sweet and fairly small, but they danced and had a lot of fun.

"Evan would like to dedicate this song to his lovely bride." Sarah said

"Seriously?" Jessica asked them as she hid her face.

"Yes!"

The song started playing as Evan sang to her.

"Remember this?"

"Of course!"

"Wanna dance?"

"No."

"C'mon babe."

"I'm tired."

"Just one more dance? Please?"

"Fine!"

Evan took her out on the dance floor as she laid her head on his shoulder.

...

The reception ended with cake and the couple going back home as Jessica took a shower as she hoped Evan had all he wanted. Was marriage easy? Not always, but as long as they had each other, they could get through it.

...

They decided to just lay together and just drift off to sleep as Evan made little circles on her shoulder as he listened to the soft snoring coming from her.

"I love you baby and happy birthday." Evan said as Jessica smiled.

"Thank you baby." Jessica said as she kissed him.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

They drifted off to sleep with her as she kissed his chest.
