Chapter 20: The Tests: Part 2
This is a continuous of Jessica's flashback.
*Flashback*
Evan seen Jessica coming over to where he was as the guys were talking to one another as he only laid eyes on her. He took her image in of the red dress she was wearing with her hair curled and makeup done as she stood beside him.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked.
"No, it's reserved for the lady standing right beside me." He said as Jessica looked on the other side of him.
"Okay." Jessica smiled.
"It seems like the whole gang is here and I only have my eyes on one lady." He whispered in her ear.
"I can go get Taissa right now." Jessica said.
"She and I are just lovers on the screen. Nothing serious in real life." Evan said as he took a sip of his beer.
"What about Emma?" She asked.
"We broke up and honestly, I guess it was the best thing for both of us." He said.
"I understand how you feel." She said.
"What about you? Have had any men since you and Sam broke up?" He asked.
"No." She said.
"That's a lie!" He said.
"I haven't." She said.
"Who wouldn't want to be with you?" He questioned.
"The men I have been with." She said.
"If I had you in my arms, I'd never let you go, ever." Evan said as Jessica blushed.
"You're still young honey and you'll find someone who will love you and stay by your side." She said.
"Someone as lovely as you." He said.
"Someone that won't leave you when things go south or won't care how much you have in the bank and someone that knows you have a career, but cares enough to stay with you. When at the end of the day, all you want to do is talk to them about how your day went, whether it's in person or on the phone if either one of you are away." She said as Evan listened to her.
"I guess we both have had it rough with the dating scene." He said.
"Yeah, we have but hopefully one of these days, you'll find someone who will give you everything you've ever wanted." She said.
"I've always wanted to get married and have a child, but finding someone who wants the same is hard." Evan said.
"I've been married once, divorced once, been in two relationships and have three children who I love more than anything in this world." Jessica said.
"Yeah, I read your bio and the guy you were married to." Evan said.
"He was the reason why I went to Paris and I absolutely loved it and I married the first guy I met and I married him." Jessica said.
"Maybe you and I should get married one of these days." Evan said as Jessica laughed.
"Wouldn't that be something." She said as she took a sip of her drink.
"Yeah it would." Evan said as he really wanted to kiss her but he knew she'd slap him like the time he flirted with her.
"So enough about our past, let's talk about now." Jessica said.
"The floor is yours, Lady Lange." Evan said as Jessica laughed.
"This season is one of my favorites by far and I have both Kathy and Sarah by my side is the greatest thing ever." Jessica said.
"Yeah, I know you and Kathy worked together before." Evan said.
"Yeah, we worked together in the movie 'Bonneville'. Have you ever watched it?" Jessica asked, knowing he would probably say no.
"Yeah, I've watched it. I've watched all your movies." Evan said as Jessica smiled.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yeah, my favorite movie you've been is 'King Kong'. You were the first woman I had a crush on and I had a couple posters of you hanging on my wall." Evan said as Jessica smiled again.
"Aww, you're too sweet." Jessica said.
"You're pretty sweet yourself darling." Evan said.
"I think Kathy wants you to come over here and talk, so I'm gonna go find the guys. I'll talk to you later on and maybe one night, we could go out for dinner and a drink sometime." He said as Jessica nodded.
"I'd like that." Jessica said as Kathy and Sarah came and stood by her.
"Is Lady Lange smiling and blushing like a school girl?" Sarah asked her.
"Yes and I have the right to smile." Jessica said.
"He likes you Jess." Kathy said.
"I'm too old for him." Jessica said.
"No you're not!" Sarah said in her tipsy state.
"Y'all, my dating life or whatever you want to call it is over. I've had my fair share of dating and it never works out anyway, so why do y'all even bother trying to set me up with these young men?" She asked.
"Because these young men, preferably Evan, adores you and what's so wrong going to dinner and having a drink?" Sarah asked Jessica.
"He could do so much better than me." Jessica said.
"Really?" Kathy questioned.
"Yes really." Jessica said.
"Jess, him and Emma are done. They broke up and they are done. You two deserve each other." Sarah told her as Jessica took a drink.
"Sarah, he's younger than I am and I don't see us the way you do." Jessica said.
"Would you rather him keep getting his heart broke or be his saving grace from all the heartbreak he could be accustomed to?" Sarah questioned.
"Sarah, I know how it'll end. This isn't my first rodeo." Jessica said.
"Jessica, you both need each other and what's wrong with that?" Sarah asked.
"Maybe one day it will, but not right now." Jessica said.
"Okay, but one day, you'll see that I was right." Sarah said.
"And I'll hug you and we'll throw a party." Jessica said.
"I'm there!" Sarah said as Evan walked up to Jessica.
"Hey Jessica, would you like to dance?" He asked as she smiled.
"I'd love to!" She said as she took his hand and they went to where the crowd of people were.
"One day Lady Lange, one day." Sarah said to herself as Finn asked her to dance as she accepted and went to where Evan and Jessica were.
*End of Flashback*
Jessica smiled at the memory as she shook her head but she was so thankful that she listened to her heart or mainly Sarah but she soon heard the front door open as she heard Evan.
"Baby, I'm home! I got the tests, hopefully I got the right ones." He shouted as Jessica was nervous.
"I'm in our bedroom." She shouted back.
"Alright, I'm coming." He said as Jessica paced back and forth.
"I got the ones you said but I'm not sure about one of them." He said as he seen Jessica pacing.
"Let me see them." Jessica said, reaching for the bag as Evan handed them to her.
"Let's do this!" Evan said he was so excited.
"What if we turn out disappointed?" She asked.
"Don't think negative thoughts baby. Let's think of something positive." He said.
"If the tests are negative, we're going to start trying right away." Jessica said.
"You got it!" Evan said.
"Are you ready?" She asked him.
"More than anything." He said as Jessica made her way over to the toilet and started taking one of the tests.
"This test takes like two minutes and I'm absolutely nervous!" Jessica said as Evan sat in front of her.
"Baby, if we're not pregnant, then that's okay. Sometimes, it takes more than a romantic evening." He said.
"Evan, you want a child and what if I can't give you that?" Jessica asked with tears streaming down her face.
"Honey, we have five amazing kids and if that's what God planned for us, then it's okay. You have given me more than I've ever dreamed of." He said.
"Really?" Jessica asked.
"Yes baby." Evan said.
"I just want to say if I am pregnant... We're going to have to be extremely careful because this doesn't happen often." Jessica said.
"Like I said baby, if we're not it's okay and if we are, it'll be okay too." He said as Jessica took a deep breath.
...
Two minutes later
The timer went off for them to check all of the tests as Jessica felt the nausea rising in the back of her throat as she had her eyes closed from the headache she felt coming on.
"Are you ready babe?" He asked.
"I am but I also want to throw up." Jessica said.
"It's just your nerves baby." He said.
"It's also caused by if I'll either be happy or disappointed." She said.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." He said.
"I know." Jessica said.
With her eyes closed, Jessica reached for one of the tests and took a deep breath as she opened her eyes to see what it said.
"Evan?" She questioned.
"Yeah?" He answered.
"Looks like you'll never have peace and quiet for a long, long time." Jessica smiled as Evan held her.
"We're pregnant?" Evan asked as Jessica smiled.
"Yeah." Jessica said.
"I love you so much." Evan said.
"I love you so much too." Jessica said as they kissed.
"I'm going to be a dad again." Evan said.
"Oh, but we can't tell anyone about the baby just right yet. Not until the twelve week scan because I just want you and me to know for know." Jessica said.
"No problem, but what if you get asked to do a movie that puts a lot of strain on you?" He questioned.
"I'll have to tell them to take it easy on me because I'm not exactly "young"." Jessica said.
"You are to me." Evan said.
"And this will probably be one of the only times where I'm not being bitchy and hormonal." Jessica said.
"I'm ready for all that." Evan said.
"I'm supposed to go out to lunch with Susan soon and I don't know if I could hide the fact that I'm pregnant from her." Jessica said.
"Well, I'd tell her but then, Sarah will get really mad if you told Susan before her." Evan said.
"If I told Sarah first, she'd tell everyone and I can't risk having a miscarriage before I even tell people that I'm pregnant." Jessica said.
"Well, if Susan asks why you're not drinking just say you don't feel like it." Evan said.
"Honey, you don't know Susan very well. She'll keep asking until I finally tell her why I'm not drinking." Jessica said.
"Well, if Susan lived closer then, we'd have her watch the kids but Sarah has no kids and does just fine watching them. You and Susan have gotten a lot closer than you and Sarah have over the past four years." Evan said.
"Sarah knows me better than anyone does, even you but Susan and I have always wanted to get closer and now, we are." Jessica said.
"Well, I don't want you to eventually tell me you and Susan decided to ditch us men all together and get together." Evan said.
"Honey, I promise that me and Susan are just friends and besides, I don't think Susan is that way, I mean, we both support the LGBTQ community but she knows I love you." Jessica said.
"Well, if you're still interested in that threesome, I'd be totally down with it." Evan said.
"Do you think you could handle me and Susan both at the same time?" Jessica asked him.
"I believe I could." Evan said.
"I don't think you could." Jessica said.
"I bet I could." He said.
"Hmm... I might just make you dream come true, except you better not knock Susan up or she and I will kill you." Jessica said.
"I know." Evan said.
"Now, let's relax and have a do nothing kind of day." Jessica said.
"Sounds good to me." He said as they laid down in their bed and talked about anything that came to mind.
