Chapter 6: Christmas Night

Thoughtful gifts had been unwrapped, delicious food had been ingested, and countless Christmas movies--as well as Frozen--had been watched. Mr. Royce had bid adieu, after listening patiently to Emmie's blathering for longer than should be humanly possible, and the members of the Caster household were all about to retire to their rooms. Robin opened the door for his boyfriend after they--tipsy on eggnog and holiday spirit--tumbled up the stairs.

"Arghhh," Tyler grunted. He fell down into a pile on the bed, every limb--prosthetic or corporal--spread out around him. "Finally!" After a few moments of blissful relaxation, he sat up and bent down toward his left leg. A relieved sigh left his lips as he pushed the button to release the pressure and remove the attached part. "I love having this damn leg now but I love taking it off almost as much."

Robin sat down beside his boyfriend, who frenetically rubbed the bottom of his leg, where the prosthetic had rubbed against. "Hey," he said softly. "I had a really nice time today. Your family is great. I think it's been..." he hesitated and thought back on the cold Christmasses of his past, "...I know it's been," he corrected himself, "the best Christmas ever. Like the kind of Christmas I've only seen in movies before."

Tyler put his hand on Robin's knee, rubbing a lot more gently than he had his own leg. Small circles of affection that made bigger circles ripple through Robin's body. "You deserve it, cutie," he said. "You deserve it all, Robby. And I'm glad I could give it to you."

A tilted head and parted lips indicated Tyler was looking for a kiss. Robin happily gave his boyfriend what he desired. Despite the lack of mistletoe above them. It tasted of fudge, gingerbread, and pecan pie. Tyler had, of course, made sure to partake in all the Christmas treats.

As their lips parted Tyler leaned toward the edge of the bed. Blonde curls disappeared down the side and appeared again accompanied by a wrapped gift. "I wrapped it myself," he proclaimed proudly, showcasing the crisscrossed tape on top and ribbon without curl. "For you."

Robin let his hands stroke across the frayed edges. The gift was square in size and rather large. He couldn't guess what it was but whatever it was had been picked by Tyler. Which meant it was perfect.

"Thank you," he mumbled, for the millionth time that day too taken by the moment to find eloquent words. "I... have a gift for you too."

A gift that made Robin blush just thinking about it. Hopefully, Tyler would like it.

"Hold on," he told his boyfriend with a pat on the knee. Robin rose from the bed and walked over to the closet. Most of his belongings had already been stored in Mr. Royce's garage, awaiting the apartment to be ready for him to move in, but Robin kept a bag with clothes, school books, and naughty gifts at Tyler's place.

"Merry Christmas, sweetheart," he said, hardly unable to keep from chuckling as the silly term of endearment slipped out. It wasn't something he called Tyler very often. Or at all. But Tyler was sweet, and he had Robin's heart, so it fit.

"Thank you, cutie," Tyler replied. That was something he called Robin frequently. Apparently, his cuteness was his defining feature. Excitedly, Tyler excitedly shook the square box slightly. A light rattle emanated from the gift and a sweet fruity smell filled the room. A curious look appeared on Tyler's face as he felt the whiff in the air.

"You open first," Tyler insisted, even though it looked like he wanted nothing rather than to tear into the gift in his hands. "You received your gift first, after all."

Perhaps Tyler was just as excited about Robin opening his gift, as he was about opening his own.

After digging through several wads of tape, Robin unfolded layer after layer of paper. It was unclear if Tyler had even cut the paper, perhaps he'd just rolled the gift in an entire roll of wrapping paper.

Of course, the paper was glittery green. Green like Tyler's eyes, eagerly observing every move from Robin and awaiting his reaction.

A brightly colored box appeared. Rows of knights atop a castle, with bows aimed at the enemy. A fearful dragon flying in from above. A beautiful blonde princess in need of rescue.

It was the lego castle Robin had dreamed of every Christmas. But his mother had always deemed it stupid and childish.

Perhaps it was those things. Especially for a college student. But to Robin, it was perfect.

"Thank you," he mumbled. Caught up in emotion, he pulled Tyler close--in an unusual taking-charge manner--and pressed their lips together.

"You mentioned that castle once," Tyler replied when Robin gave him a moment to catch his breath after the kissing. "So I found it online for you."

"It's perfect. You're perfect."

"I think it's missing one thing though." Once again Tyler reached down under the bed. This time, he appeared with a smaller box. "I think this will fit better."

Robin unwrapped another gift hidden under layer after layer of wrapping paper. Underneath he found another lego box. A mini-figure set containing a dashing blonde prince.

"You can exchange the princess with him," Tyler explained excitedly. "I even made some modifications to it..."

Robin noticed that the top of the box was already open. He flipped the lid up and reached his hand down to pull up the small figurine. And he discovered that one leg had been exchanged for a pegleg.

Tyler shrugged and smiled. An adorable smile made of lollipops and marshmallow fluff. "I found that among Emmie's pirate ship legos," he explained. "I figured it fit better. Now you can rescue me every day."

Cradling the lego prince in his hand, Robin moved closer to his own prince and stroked a few blonde tufts of hair away. He let his hand linger on Tyler's, for once neatly shaved, jaw. "I love it," he said. "And I'll rescue you any day."

Lips melted together in a blend of cinnamon and spice. It tasted of Christmas and young love.

"My turn now," Tyler whispered. His hands reached for the gift Robin had bought him. A gift that now, when Robin looked upon Tyler's sweet gift for himself, seemed very inappropriate.

But it was too late. Eager fingers tore through the paper in record time.

"It's stupid..." Robin mumbled, cheeks blushing bright red, just as Tyler gazed upon a glossy white box with fruit and berries printed on it.

"Berrylicious" the box read.

Inside was a naughty assortment of massage oils, lubes, and condoms. All in fruit flavors. But that wasn't the naughtiest thing. Even naughtier were the accompanying vibrators, in the shape of different fruit. There was a cherry, a strawberry, and a banana. Perhaps that one would have to wait a while.

"What is it?" Tyler asked in a confused tone. He turned the box over and suddenly his cheeks turned red as well. He must have read the contents declaration. "Is it like..." his voice turned into a hush, "a sex thing?"

With cheeks now maroon in color, Robin nodded defeatedly. Not a single word came to mind for him to explain the gift with.

"Awesome! Tyler exclaimed, a naughty grin spreading across his face. "This looks so... fun."

Despite Tyler's seemingly positive reaction, Robin still couldn't shake the anxiousness.

Perhaps recognizing his boyfriend's current distress, Tyler found Robin's hand for a firm embrace. "Did you go to the adult store in the mall all by yourself to get this, cutie?" he asked softly.

Robin nodded. "Mmmhhhmmm," he replied. It wasn't a word but at least it was a sound coming from his lips.

"You must have been blushing so much. I bet you were really cute."

"I..." Robin started, his tongue once again working. "I went there after work. The clerk was really nice and helped me."

"Maybe we can go there together some time," Tyler suggested. "Maybe that would be a bit less embarrassing. And I... would like to check out what they have." His eyebrows wiggled suggestively at the mere thought.

"I'd... like that," Robin replied, a deep exhale leaving his chest. It seemed his gift wasn't that stupid after all. Maybe it was actually quite perfect.

"Although we need to try this first, of course!" Tyler patted the box with his hands. "Like now?" Eager hands tore through the plastic wrap around the box to open it.

"Your family is around..." Robin reminded his boyfriend. "Maybe once they're away. So we can... explore in peace."

"But I want to now..." Tyler pouted overdramatically. His eyes lingered longingly at the colorful and fragrant toys in the box.

"I want to as well," Robin assured his boyfriend. He leaned in for another kiss. And another. Dammit, this was not making him want things less.

Head spinning from lust, Robin pried his lips from Tyler's. "Maybe we should play with my gift tonight," he suggested and rattled the lego box. "Then we'll do your gift tomorrow."
