We Found Her

Caroline

His words send a chill down my spine. What the hell is wrong with me? He warned me, but at the time, I just wanted him and everything that we could possibly give each other.

We stepped into the shower and washed each other's bodies. I ran the sponge over his chest, then he lifted my chin and looked down at me. My heart skipped a beat.

"Do you have regrets?" He asked.

"Of course not, Cody. I told you I want all of you. Are we crazy?" I asked.

He chuckled. "Pretty much, yeah I'd say so."

"I'm glad it's with you then, Cody." I leaned up and kissed him. My boyfriend is a God.

After another not so quick lovemaking session in the shower, the water had turned cold, and we both jumped out of the shower laughing. He wrapped me up in a towel and pulled me in for a hug.

It's not even noon yet, and our bodies are completely exhausted. Cody sent Dean a text saying we are locked down for the day, and would not open the door if he showed up here. The man does have terrible timing.

We spent the day sleeping, making love, and eating, which carried on through the night. The next day we practiced a song to sing together for Sean's funeral, which is planned for the next day.

As that time grew closer, Cody showed moments of sadness, but I pulled him out of it each time he needed me. The day came to say goodbye to Sean. I could see the grief Cody is carrying, but thinks he is hiding. Between him and Dean, it's hard to tell who the rock is for the crew.

I learned a lot about Sean today. I learned he was born to a teenage mother, and he never knew his father. He worked hard growing up so his mother could quit working three jobs to support him. He knew Jax since they were children, and both loved music, and even had their own band in high school.

So many people showed up at the services in the high school gym. Musicians, actors, political figures, family, and his old high school friends. Cody's eulogy was beautiful, and we sang "Coming Home" just as planned.

It's sickening to see the press trying to record his funeral, and even try to interview his mother. Cody was pissed, and I actually was too.

That night, after all the services were over, Cody got exactly what he needed.

Jessie was dropped off to us to stay for the next week until June came back for her. From what Cody said, June is speeding up the divorce, and they seem to be in agreement over everything.

I should have been relieved when my period came and went, but deep down, I guess I was hoping that we were expecting, which is idiotic anyway. He's still legally married, so it really wouldn't make any sense.

We left for Tampa on a Saturday morning. Wally has found a few musicians he liked to replace Sean, but during their interview with the guy's, none were satisfied, so I kept playing and the show went on.

We spent a lot of time on the bus, making love in our tiny closed off space, not caring if the guys knew, and we also wrote. Our creativity blossomed even more as we grew closer together. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into a month.

We stopped at a tiny town just outside Chicago when it happened. I was holding Cody's hand, and the guys were walking behind us down the sidewalk when we heard it. Music that stopped us all in our tracks. We peered inside a window and saw our next band member.

She was sitting at the piano in an actual music store. Her voice was lovely, but could use a little work. She was perfect, only she is young, and to be honest, she's actually poor. Maybe even homeless in dirty clothes.

"No, it could never work. Look at her." Dean said, and I was looking at the girl. Under those messy clothes and thick glasses, sits a beautiful young woman.

"Everyone deserves a chance, Dean. I have a few weeks left to teach her and work with that appearance." I said, then looked at Cody and he was smiling.

"I'm willing to help with her voice, if you're willing to be her teacher." He gives me everything I want.

"Stay here, let me talk to her." I said.

I stepped into the store leaving the guys outside watching. She stopped playing.

"No, please continue." I said and she looked at me with confusion when I sat next to her and started playing. She soon joined in, and I could hear the promise in her music.

When the song ended, I turned to her. "Don't look now, but there are four intrigued men starting from outside." I said.

"What do they want?" She looked at me with suspicion.

"They want to hear you play once more. Don't look at them, just give it everything you've got." I said.

I don't want her to see Cody and the guys, and get stage fright.

She did as told with obvious reluctance. She blew me away, and I could see by the look on the guy's faces, we have found the one.

She finished playing, and I gave her an approving smile. "The men outside have a band, and they're in need of a pianist. They aren't just any band, and they are quite taken with you." I said.

"What do you want from me?" She asked.

"It's not about what I want, it's about them." I pointed, and she gasped when she saw Cody and the rest.

"What do they want from me?" Her eyes were huge.

"To hear you play more. Come to our hotel tonight, and tell the front desk who you are, and they'll lead you to a conference room." I dug into my purse and wrote down the address of the hotel, then also pulled out some cash.

"Get yourself a new outfit and get cleaned up. If they like you, they may ask you to join them, but no promises." I said.

"Are you serious?" She asked.

"Very, I'll see you tonight at seven." I got up and walked away.

"Oh, sorry. What's your name?" I asked.

"Lana Jocelyn." She answered.

"It's nice to meet you, Lana." I turned and walked away.
