His Side Of Things
Caroline
I walked out of the bedroom as soon as I heard one of them refer to me as Cody's girlfriend. Cody handled it right, but I don't need anyone talking like that right now.
Dean went on about a press release and an interview.
"Can I talk to you real quick?" Cody said to me, and we went into my room.
"These guys need to know what's going on, you can trust them," he assured me.
"I'm sure you're right." I said.
I walked out ahead of him, but he spoke as he followed me out.
"Whose divorce?" Jax seemed confused.
"We told you last night, my divorce," Cody answered.
"No shit? Dude, she's pregnant." Jamie pointed out.
"Chill, it's not mine." Cody set him straight.
"That fucking bitch!" Jax blurred out.
"That divorce is eight years too late." Jamie seemed like he wasn't surprised.
"I need strict confidence in this matter. Wait? Where's Sean?" Cody asked.
"Went home with a ginger last night," Jamie said.
"Here's what I need on top of the confidentiality. We need you guys to each spend time with Caroline on purpose, so they don't start rumors." Cody said.
"So, she is your girlfriend?" Jax is confused.
"She's a friend to all of us." Cody probably didn't know how to answer.
"Take her out as a date?" Jamie asked with too much enthusiasm.
"No, just friendly outings. I don't want the public dragging Caroline into this mess." Cody said.
"Anything to protect our girl." Jax winked at me.
"How do you expect us to have a civilized conversation with that shit on your face?" Cody asked.
I went to my room and got them the wipes that might help. When I came back, Dean was talking.
"Access Hollywood has someone already out here for another story, they can do it at three." Dean said.
"That's fine, did LeeAnn want to talk before I go?" Cody asked.
"Yeah, she said you can call whenever you want. Damn, I'm hungry. I'll call for room service." Dean said, before he walked away.
I handed the guys what they needed, and they both got up and went to Cody's bathroom.
"I'm going to get a shower." I walked toward my room, but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into him, and makes me weak.
"Sorry about earlier." He looks down at me.
"Why?" I smiled up at him.
"Because there's nothing in this world I want to do more than kiss you. A real one this time." He said.
Damn, did I just shiver?
"Alright, foods ordered, and its enough for an army." Dean came walking in from the balcony, and Cody let go of me.
"Oh, sorry." Dean paused.
"You're fine, I was just going to get a shower." I stepped away, and heard Cody speak just as I shut my bedroom door.
"We're going to have to do something about your timing issues." He said.
I smiled, and walked into my bathroom. That's when I let go of a huge breath. What is happening to me? I have to slow this down, but I'm not sure I have that kind of power. Having him so close to me is exactly what I needed, but what about June and Jessie?
It wouldn't be good for Jessie to see him move on so quickly. I know what June did was wrong, but she was nice to me. Does she deserve my respect? Of course, she's the mother of his child.
After hanging out in our room, it was time for Cody's interview. It was going to be held in a small conference room downstairs. He wanted me to come, just in case she asks him a question I didn't want him to answer. He said to shake my head no if needed, so all the guys came along.
A woman named LeeAnn met us in the lobby. Cody introduced us and she seemed nice enough.
A beautiful blond walked in and shook Cody's hand, then introduced herself to all of us. Reporters are down close to lawyers and used car salesman to me, like bottom feeders. They'll ruin a person's life, and not have a second thought about it.
Cody took a seat on the sofa and the reporter in a chair, and they got right to it.
Reporter: Congratulations on the great reviews of your tour so far.
Cody: Thanks, it really has been a great tour.
Reporter: I understand you grew up on a ranch in Texas. How did that impact your life?
Cody: Greatly, I learned hard work at a young age, and my parents are extremely supportive of everything I do.
Reporter: We've all heard the unfortunate news of your divorce. Has that had anything to do with your stage presence at the time?
Cody: No, I don't believe so. Divorce is a terrible thing, especially when there are children involved. We've been working on a new album, and we are really excited. I think that plays the biggest role in our success this year.
Reporter: Is it true that you are expecting your second child with June despite the divorce?
Cody: June is expecting, but I am not. She has moved on and is building herself a new life. I will always care for June and wish her the best in this new phase of her life.
Reporter: We've heard rumors that your band has an additional musician on this tour with you. We've also heard she's the daughter of Owens Ravenheart. Some even speculate you're more than friends. What is your relationship with Caroline Harper?"
Cody: Caroline is an extremely talented musician who has inspired all of the band members. She has grown to be equally valued by each of us. As far as our relationship, she has proven to be a wonderful friend.
Reporter: Are you saying there is no romance between the two of you?
Cody: As I said, she provides us all with valuable friendships.
Their interview went on for what seemed like hours, but was probably only a half hour. Cody did great, and I'm satisfied with his reaction when my name was brought up in the interview.
