Happiest Man Alive
Cody
I felt horrible for Caroline as we rode on the bus. She was so sick, and could barely even hold down water. I'm not sure what happened since last night, but she's seeing a doctor as soon as we get to Nashville.
I stroked her hair, trying to get her to sleep. I even hummed a melody, and I let out a breath of relief when her breaths evened out.
I slowly got up and shut the door behind me and sat with everyone.
"Is she doing any better?" Lana asked.
"She's sleeping now, I hate seeing her so sick." I said.
"It's probably just because of the bus. She will do better once you get her home." Dean said.
"I hope, if that's the case she doesn't need to finish the tour," I said.
"You're right, and there are only a few weeks left anyway," Lana said.
"Lana, I almost forgot. She wants you to stay with us at her house while we are home. She's convinced you need a few home cooked meals." I said.
Jax scoffed. "Like I don't?"
"You have a place, smartass. Cook your own damn meals." I said.
I heard the bedroom door open, and Caroline raced into the bathroom and got sick again. Damn, this can't be good.
I got her another ginger ale and some crackers, and had it waiting in the bedroom.
We only have a few hours left, so I laid down with her and held her tight as she slept the rest of the way.
I carried her off the bus and into the waiting car, then took her and Lana back to her house. I called the doctor and made an appointment for first thing tomorrow morning. I was thankful when she slept through the night, and was much better the next day.
We waited in the doctor's office, and she was all smiles like she forgot all about yesterday. The doctor came in and looked through her file.
"The first trimester can be pretty rough, but I think the bus ride just exacerbated the morning sickness. I would suggest staying off the bus for a while. There's no reason to think flying will hurt, so you can go that route. I'll prescribe you some vitamins, and you should get plenty of rest." He said.
Well, that told me nothing.
I dropped her off at home, and I had a few errands to run. One will be to pick up Gizmo, she misses him. I also need to go see Jessie, but I don't want to take her to Carolines yet. I know she won't rest with Jessie in the house.
She called her dad this morning and told him she left, and that he's going to be a grandpa. I could hear him yelling when she told him about Vienna, then I think he cried when she told him about the baby.
What she doesn't know, is that I asked him for her hand in marriage when she was in Vienna. I met with him for lunch that first day. I was going to propose when I visited her.
Instead, I have a new plan.
I finished with everything, and when I walked into the house with Gizmo, I got worried with the way he was jumping on her, but thankfully he calmed down.
I packed the truck up and told her I wanted to take a ride. I even carried her to the truck.
I drove her to the spot I consider to be our first date. Neither of us knew it then, but we were already in love.
I told her to wait and lifted her out of my truck. "It's so beautiful here, Cody."
I smiled at her. "I thought this view would be beautiful looking out our kitchen window. Maybe a pool out back, and outdoor kitchen, too. I also think it would he nice to have this view from the nursery and our bedroom." I said.
She looked up at me and smiled. "You're building us a house?"
I nodded yes, and she flung her arms around me. "It's going to be perfect! I love you so much, Cody!" She said.
I pulled back. "We have another thing to do before this baby comes." I kneeled down on one knee, and took out the little box from my pocket.
"Caroline Ravenheart, will you please marry me?" I looked up at her and she's crying. I used her maiden name, because I don't ever want to hear that bastards name again.
"Yes, of course." I put the ring on her finger, then kissed her as gently as possible.
"I already have your dad's blessing." I said.
She wiped a tear from her eye and smiled. "Really?"
"Yeah, but I haven't talked to him since I learned about the baby." I said.
"He's happy, Cody." She hugged me again.
We watched the sunset and it was beautiful.
