Don't Go

Cody

I'm pissed as I walk off stage and see Caroline sitting quietly by herself. She's obviously in deep thought. These two concerts sucked because of me. I can't let go of my sadness. She's leaving tonight and I'm sick over it.

"I just want to go straight to the bus." I grabbed my gym bag.

"That's fine." She said as she followed me to the bus. I'm skipping out on the meet and greet, and we had to wait for the guys on the bus.

I pulled her down onto my lap and held her tight. "I'm going to be on the first flight to Vienna I can get, damn, I hate this Caroline." I said.

"I know, I do too, but we have to make it work somehow." She said.

"Why can't I just give your father the money? I can't let you go." I tried again.

"Money isn't the point. Having me there gives the school credit and good standing. It's political, Cody."

"Fuck politics." I don't have a good impression of her father. In fact, I hate the man.

I squeezed her tighter and kissed her temple.

"When you get back, I'm marrying you, Caroline. We will be building a life together." I said.

She curled into me. "I know." She responded.

I wanted to scream when I saw Lana and the guys walking out to the bus.

"It's time, I guess." She lifted her head, and that's when I noticed my neck was wet and she had tears in her eyes. I wiped them off her face.

"I want you to know, if my father wouldn't have intervened, I would have stayed. You're worth so much more than any dreams I once had, Cody. You are my dream now." She cried.

"If I wasn't in a contract, I'd bring Jessie and go to Vienna right now." I kissed her tears.

I cupped her face and made her look at me. "This will work, and we will be okay." I said trying to convince myself.

She nodded still with tears streaming down her face.

"I'll never let you go, I'll always have you with me." She said and I kissed her.

The bus doors opened, and everyone was gloomy, especially Lana.

"Take care of her for me, okay?" She was looking at Lana, then at me.

"She's a high priority for all of us," I assured her.

"Thanks for taking care of Gizzy for me and the house while I'm gone." She said

I'll be staying at her place once the tour is over.

"It's no problem. I'll take him to the property with me so he can run off that energy." I said.

She smiled and wiped the tears off her face. The bus is now moving toward the airport.

She put her hand on my cheek. "I love you." She said and kissed me again, staining my face once again with her tears.

"Call me as soon as you land." I reminded her.

"I will, but I don't want to go." She cried.

"Then don't, your father will get over it," I said.

She shook her head. "No, he will just make life miserable."

As I said before, I'm beginning to hate the man.

"You're so loyal," I said and kissed her another time. The bus is so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. I hate seeing her cry. It's the only time I've ever seen it, and its heart-wrenching for me.

"I can't wait to hear the album we created." She said, but I wish it wasn't the only thing we created. I want to start our life now, not in a year.

We pulled into the airport and her grip on me tightened. I stood with her in my arms and walked off the bus. I wasn't going to let the others stop her to say goodbye. I need a moment alone, and they can wait.

I set her down, but she held on to me. "Hey, look at me." I lifted her chin. "I won't wait long and I'll be there, so keep your chin up." I said.

She nodded. "I'll try."

Everyone walked off the bus and they all hugged her. Lana cried, and Jax was trying to hide his own tears. "You are the best thing to ever happen to us," Dean said, then kissed her cheek.

Jamie hugged her and told her to hurry back.

Jax was turned the other way and wouldn't look at her.

Lana hugged her. "I owe you everything, and I promise to watch out for them." Caroline held on to her for dear life. "I know you will, just keep them out of trouble."

She then looked at Jax and walked up to him. "Hey," she said, and he quickly turned and hugged her.

"I'm going to miss you so bad." He cried.

"I'll miss you too, but you can do this, Jax. Just remember what he would have wanted for you." She said.

She turned to me once more, and I pulled her into me. "Dammit, Caroline. If you decide you can't do it, just get on a plane and come back to me. Don't worry about your father." I said.

"I will." I gave her one last kiss, before she walked away.

I feel sick as I climbed on the bus. Lana sat next to me and took my hand. She just looked at me and tried to smile. "I don't think she will be gone long." She gave me a reassuring smile.
