A Warning
Caroline
Cody wasn't in bed when I woke up, which made me feel oddly alone like something is wrong. I hopped up and took a shower before getting dressed. I was in too much of a hurry to do makeup and hair, because I needed to make sure Cody is okay.
Once again coffee was made for me, but the suite was oddly quiet. I had a few drinks of coffee, before I found Cody alone sitting on the balcony. He gave me a half a smile before I sat down on his lap, but he pulled my head down and gave me another mindblowing kiss.
I pulled back. "Are you okay?"
I can see that Cody is actually the band's rock. Dean tries, but Cody refuses to let himself break down.
"I'm okay, just worried about Sean's family." He said.
"This is a tough one. I feel so bad for them, they have no answers and probably never will, so it has to be earth shattering for them." I said.
"I'm just trying to figure out what more I can do to help them." He said.
"All you can do is be there for them." I said.
"Wally is pushing back the tour for a few weeks and helping them make arrangements. We will have to go back home." He said.
"You mean to Texas?" I asked.
He nodded yes. "We will do tonights show and leave afterward on the bus. We will drive straight through until we arrive home." He said.
"I guess LeeAnn already sent out the press release?" I asked.
"Yeah." He answered.
I can't stand the idea of going through this and having to watch him suffer in public, and not be able to show him any affection.
"You've seen Jax?" I asked.
"Yeah, he went back to bed. He's not handling this well. I'm unsure if he will make it through tonight." He said.
"I'm sure everyone will understand if we cancel." I assured him.
"No, we need to finish this. Last night's concert helped us, it was like therapy. I'll have to leave here soon, and go meet with Sean's mom. I'm sure Jax will want to stay here." He pushed my hair behind my ear.
"Okay, when are you leaving?" I asked.
"As soon as Dean gets here. He's packing up Sean's things so we can load them up and take them back to Texas for his family." He said.
"I'll order breakfast." I once again went to get up, but he pulled me back down and kissed me. It wasn't much longer, and he was gone, leaving me with Jax and Wally.
"Excuse me, I have a call to make." I grabbed my phone and went out to the balcony.
"Carrie?" My dad answered.
"Hi, dad."
"I've tried to call you for days now." He said.
"Yeah, sorry it got a tad bit busy." I said.
"I heard about the band's loss. Sweetie, if I would have known those men were doing drugs, you'd never have gone on tour with them." He said.
I can feel the anger build. "I'm an adult, capable of making my own decisions, and these guys aren't on drugs. We believe this was suicide, because he had never attempted drugs before." I defended.
"I heard you took the stage last night. Did it bring back memories of college?" He asked.
"This was a much larger scale. Anyhow, I have a reason to call, a warning actually." I said.
I took him off guard. "This doesn't sound good."
"It is actually good, but I doubt you'll see it that way." I said.
"Go on." He said.
"I'm involved with Cody Reid and it's bound to get out. He's in the middle of a divorce, and now with Sean's death, I'm just giving you warning people might get the wrong idea." I said.
"Dammit, Carrie. The last thing I need is for my daughter to be the other woman in some messy divorce." He's pissed.
"This isn't about you dad, and you better be careful, I've still not forgiven you for the Cassidy thing. Plus, his soon to be ex-wife is pregnant and has moved on to another man." I said.
"So you don't care what kind of grief you receive for it? Just bring on the consequences and you don't care?" He asked.
"He is worth every single negative word said about me. His friend died, we are going to Texas, and that's final. I'll be there to support him, otherwise, we aren't announcing it to the world." I explained.
He sighed. "When do I get to meet this man?"
"I don't know, but you'll like him." I said.
"No man is good enough for my baby girl." He said.
I smiled. "This one is, dad. He really is, his high morals alone blow me away. He's so kind and respectful. All of these men are, and it's like a family. They're devastated right now, and I've grown to care for each one of them." I said.
"What about Vienna?" He asked.
"I'll still be going." That's a day that I dread already.
"Alright, do what you have to do. Just find happiness, and please, play it smart. Also keep in mind what it took to get into that school. I have paid a big amount for tuition and Ravenheart's are not quitters." He said.
"Thanks, dad." I said feeling uneasy about that last part.
"Love you, bug." He reminded me.
"You too, dad."
I set my phone down, and sighed with relief. I want to be with Cody. No matter the consequences and I will be there for him at the services for Sean. I decided to take a bath and take my phone in, so I can listen to Cody's playlist before practice.
As I listened to his familiar voice, I became consumed with memories of our time together. Thinking about leaving for Vienna, made my stomach turn. Why couldn't I have met him after my time in Vienna?
