SEVENTEEN
CHAPTER ONE | 장
❝WHO'S THE MOST HANDSOME
PERSON YOU'VE MET AND
WHY IS IT ME?❞
━━━━━━━━━
Ever since that scene from the luxurious dining place, M/n has been thinking lately.
Daniel and the others involved in fights? That was normal, he has heard and saw it firsthand. It was even admirable for them to act freely and stand by what they think is right.
But the four major crews? Never heard of it. Except for murmurs in the hall about gangs.
Though he never paid any attention to those.
M/n knew that he shouldn't be thinking about that but what Gun had said made him curious. Goo was involved somehow, how can he not be interested?
The front door opened and M/n knew right away who it was.
"I'm home!"
"Welcome back."
Goo took an immediate seat beside M/n. He really missed him. He's been busy lately and only ever comes homes late thanks to the hard-headed bastards that refuse to pay debts, but now that he was home, he could finally feel relieved.
"What're you watching?"
M/n hummed. "Demonslayer."
"Oh? You're actually watching a Japanese show instead of studying." Goo teased, knowing about M/n's tendencies of studying.
"It's an interesting show."
"Seems like it." Goo nodded, only because M/n said it was and he hasn't seen it personally. "And I'll never know why you still bother to study."
"Old habits never die."
M/n seemed very interested in the show, and Goo decided to sit down and see what was up about it as well. It was an action scene so it was more bearable for Goo to sit still.
"Is that a sword technique?" The blonde's eyes lit up like stars.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. It'd be cool though if someone actually manages to pull it off in real life."
"Say no more." He murmured.
M/n turned to Goo, brows furrowed as he didn't properly hear what he said. "Did you say something?"
"No."
"Oh."
Eyes were back at the screen, the demon's head was now cut in half and M/n was hyped enough to bounce on his seat. That was until the episode ended and they had to wait for another week for a new one.
"Damn, that was good." The boy sighed.
"Hey, hey— since I have your attention now, why don't you hear out my new pick up line?" Goo suggested excitedly, facing his body towards the boy who nodded.
"Alright."
"Here it goes." He cleared his throat dramatically. "Do you have a bandaid? I scraped my knee falling for you."
M/n thought about it for a few seconds before shaking his head. "Too cheesy, let me try." Clearing his throat, he proceeded. "We're not socks, but we'd make a great pair."
The blonde was obviously happy to hear any word that came out of his lover's mouth.
"Goo, what're you doing on your phone?" M/n asked in suspicion, suddenly seeing Goo hurriedly going through his phone.
"Browsing for pick up lines."
"I knew it. That's cheating though!"
"Aw." Goo puts his phone down before tapping his chin to think of a creative pick up line. "But I have another one. If I had a thousand won for every thought of you, I'd be in a higher tax bracket."
"That was better than the last one." M/n admitted.
"I'm improving!"
"Wait, wait— I have another one." Shifting on his seat, M/n continued. "Can I follow you? My parents always told me to follow my dreams."
"Did they really?" Goo wiggled his brows.
". . ."
"I'm kidding! I love you." He cuddled in. "I didn't know you had a romantic bone in you though."
"I'm a rather romantic person."
"Really?"
"I like to believe so."
"Well, let me lay with you for a little longer." Goo murmured, liking the heat that M/n radiated.
━━━━━━━━━
It was around midnight that M/n received a call, the simple ring was enough to wake him up since he was a light sleeper. Though he still felt a little sleepy, what he heard from the other line instantly got him awake.
"M/n."
The familiar voice. . . One that he can never bring himself to forget even if he desperately tries to.
"Why are you calling me?" He demanded, sitting up before walking towards the window, gazing outside.
"Is it wrong for a mother to call her son?"
"I know you have a different reason. Just spit it out." M/n said coldly. And it seems like his hostility was bringing her to the edge.
He heard a sigh release from her.
"Listen. . . Your father's in the hospital, he took in too much alcohol causing his liver to collapse." Right, his father's alcohol obsession. The man basically couldn't live without drinking at least a few bottles a day.
He wasn't even surprised.
"And what do you want me to do? Pray for him?" He scoffed. "It was bound from the start, I'm only surprised it didn't happen any sooner." It was blunt of him to have stated that but he realized while on his time at he and Goo's shared house that he never really felt love towards his parents.
It was the exact way for them towards him too. He's sure of it.
"How can you be so heartless?" She asked in disbelief. "I already put down my pride to ask you for help, and here you are, acting like you're someone great just because you got into a relationship with a good-for-nothing rich man."
"Is that what you really think?" He sighed. "You never change. So, you spent the retirement money the company gave you to go off on over excessive drinking? And now you're contacting me for help."
"It's just little money for the hospital's payment! Don't be ungrateful, we raised you!"
They always bring trouble to him wherever they go. It seems like he can never truly cut ties with them, they always have ways to contact him somehow.
"I'll send money." He decided that he wasn't that heartless to let his father die. They might have been a part of the past he wants to rewrite, but that doesn't mean he'll be like them. "I saved enough from the scholarships. That would suffice."
"Yes! Right away as soon as possible, you can send it via paypill."
And the call ended. M/n bit his bottom lip, contemplating on what to feel. At the moment, he felt pity for them, they will always be a lost cause. But at the same time, he figured that he really did hate them. They'll never change, he realized.
She didn't even thank him. She didn't bother to be nice when asking. She didn't sound the slightest appreciative.
And it made him think, could they really feel empathy?
But after this, it'll be over. They won't contact him again, and he'll get to start fresh with Goo. And that thought had put him to ease.
"Are you okay?" The lamp lit up and Goo sat up, rubbing his eyes. "I kinda overheard the conversation, don't worry— I support whatever decision you make." He gave a thumbs up.
M/n smiled slightly at his lover's encouragement.
"Thanks. But it's nothing big, we shouldn't worry about it." He said, mostly to himself. Goo stood up and walked towards him, placing his chin on top of the boy's head.
"I heard his liver collapsed. That would need maintenance forever, it'll cause a ton."
"I know."
"Do you want to help him?" Goo asked, before pulling away and looking at M/n's face. "Your father, I mean."
M/n pursed his lips into a thin line. "There's nothing much I can do. I'm still in high school, I can't possibly do anything to help. In fact, I think I might just raise his high blood."
Goo snorted. "He dislikes you that much?"
"I think so. They never saw me as anyone other than their son who needs to accomplish their needs."
"Well, I can help you if you want. If you really do want to help them."
M/n bit his bottom lip again before shaking his head. "My family business shouldn't have you involved in their troubles. I already cut ties with them, there's no need for you to be bothered."
"You love me too much." Goo grinned. "Though, I love you more."
M/n smiled before looking back outside again, seeing the view of the space before the streets.
"Your graduation is nearing, is there anything you want to do?" The blonde brought up, curiously gazing into his lover's eyes, reaching to caress his hand to comfort him and himself.
"Maybe moving from this part of city sounds good. Dropping out sounds even more enticing."
Goo gave a hearty laugh. "Never did I imagine to hear you say the words 'dropping out'. But, sounds good! That way, I'll get to spend even more time with you."
"And then maybe I can get a job at a cafe, or even a flower shop. Sounds peaceful."
The blonde suddenly pouted. "What are you going to work for? I'm the one who's going to provide, you should just enjoy life." He oddly likes the idea of having his significant other depending on him.
"I can't always rely on you and your money, I have to earn for myself too." M/n explained. "And maybe we'll get to see other places too. Just the two of us."
Goo nodded eagerly.
"Damn, late night talks hit different."
"Glad to have comforted you, my love." He dipped his head for a kiss on the cheek before pulling M/n with him towards the bed. "But we should get some sleep, don't worry, I'll lend you my chest tonight."
"You always do." M/n deadpanned.
"Shh, just come here." He spreads his arms, inviting him in a position.
Seems like Goo's enjoying himself, and M/n can't say he doesn't like it either.
