Chapter 31: Unknown caller became my soulmate.
My eyes snapped open, only for me to blink a few times to adjust to the light.
Where am I?
I looked at my arm to see something connected to it.
"Okay?" I said, unsure of what to say.
I looked around and saw Xander's head on my thigh.
I hit his head, hard.
He yelped and fell off his chair.
"Y-you're awake!" He exclaimed and trapped me in a bone crushing hug.
"So are you!" I replied and pushed him, "Now get off me, I can't breathe."
"Sorry," he said and sat back down.
"Where am I?" I asked him.
"In the hospital." He replied.
"What?!" I exclaimed, "Get these things off me, Xander!"
"What? Why?" He asked.
"Please." I said, my eyes pleading.
"I'll call the doctor." He said and exited the room.
I controlled my breathing but that didn't stop memories from flooding to my mind like a tsunami.
I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples, "Relax. You're sixteen, not eleven."
Tears welled up in my eyes when I opened them.
"Who am I kidding? I won't get over that incident- if that's what you call it." I said with a giggle.
"I'm talking to myself. They should've taken me to an asylum instead of a hospital." I told the air.
I remember a friend that told me to hug the air once when I was reading a horror book.
I snorted at the memory.
The door opened and a brunette who had her hair tied up in a bun and blue eyes behind those round glasses entered wearing a nurse's uniform.
"How are you feeling, Dayana?" She asked with a smile.
"Like crap. I bet I wouldn't be feeling that if you get me out of here." I replied.
She looked at my health report, or what seemed like it.
"Have you eaten anything since this morning?" She asked me.
"Come to think of it, I didn't eat dinner last night and I didn't eat breakfast this morning." I replied sheepishly.
"Why is that? You fainted because of lack of food." She told me.
"But I ate bread." I whined.
"How many loaves?" She asked.
"Half." I replied.
She shook her head while I giggled.
"I'll ask Nurse Summers to get you something to eat. Make sure you eat it all, understand?" She asked me.
I rolled my eyes and nodded.
I don't wanna eat!
Yes you do!
Shut up stomach! Plus, after seeing a mosaic of dead rats and stabbing a person at least ten times, would you still have appetite?
My stomach growled and I started to look for food.
Okay, maybe I still do have an appetite.
"I'm hopeless." I said with a giggle.
I hear the chorus of Twenty Øne Piløt's The Judge, A.K.A. my ringtone.
I spotted my phone and saw that it was an unknown number.
I picked it up anyways.
"What's up?" A guy's voice greeted.
"The roof." I said bluntly.
I hear him laugh, "Of course you would say that."
"Who are you?" I asked him.
"Someone who knows you, but I'm also someone you don't know. Do you, Dayana?" He asked.
"Hm?" I hummed, raising my eyebrows, which ended up as a total fail.
"Once again, what's up?" He repeated.
"Currently in a hospital, in which when I escape, I'll track your number." I replied, "How's that sound?"
"Aw, that won't be any fun. I guess I'll just break this phone and buy a new one." He thought out loud, "Whoops, I said too much."
I giggled, "Thanks for the useful information."
"Still the same with the giggles." A male's voice from behind said.
"Shh. Ane will hear you." The first guy said.
"'Ane'?" I asked, "I'm getting interested, and who's the male in the background?"
"'Ane' is my sister. And the male in the background is not important, for all I know, he's nothing but thin air to you." He replied.
"Had." I corrected him, "That guy is nothing but thin air to me now."
I shook my head. This guy couldn't probably have heard me say that.
"I'm still curious." I told him.
"You wouldn't be if you could take a fucking hint." He said, clearly annoyed.
I pouted, "No cursing in front of innocent Dayana."
I heard him snort, "Yeah, innocent."
"But I am!" I exclaimed.
"As if you didn't kill a person just two hours ago." He said.
"Two hours? I passed out for two hours? And how did you- no, don't bother answering that." I said.
"Because I'm eating." He said, out of topic.
"I found my soulmate." I said with a wide smile.
"Me too." He said, "It's in my mouth right now."
"My soulmate." I said dreamily.
"No! You will not find your soulmate until you're fifty years old!" The male from the background said.
"And who are you to say that?" I demanded.
"I'm y-"
"Shut up!" The first guy said, "Do you want to reveal our identities? She will kill us!"
"Oh, sorry." The guy said.
I sighed, "Can I end the call now?"
"No!" The both of them yelled.
"Why?" I asked.
"Just because." The first guy said.
Someone knocked on the door so I quickly hung up and put my phone back in its place.
"Yes?" I asked.
The door opened and in came Simba with Leon.
Simba jumped on me and brushed his tail against my cheeks.
"Hey boy! How'd you get here? Shouldn't the guards have stopped you?" I asked him.
It whimpered as if saying, 'You don't want me here?'
"Of course I do! I'm just curious." I said with a giggle.
"I sneaked him in." Leon answered my question.
I giggled, "Food?"
"They haven't brought you any?" He asked in disbelief.
"Yup." I said, popping the p.
"Good thing I bought Krispy Kreme." He said and tossed me a bag of donuts.
"Thanks! And the craziest thing happened? Wanna know it?" I asked him.
He sighed, "What?"
"Someone called me and they became my soulmate." I replied dreamily.
"Are you okay?" He asked and gave a weird look.
"Of course I am." I said and took a bite of a glaced donut.
"Yeah, I believe you." He said sarcastically.
