Chapter 19: Time for the... drumroll please! 52 minutes!
Xander and I are now headed to the announcement room.
I changed personalities exactly 7:55. Great timing, if I do say so myself.
I giggled, "You and Ana had some alone time. Let me guess, she told you about my split-personality?"
"Uh, yeah." Xander replied, shifting uncomfortably.
"Hm? What's wrong?" I asked, facing him while walking backwards.
"I'm just a bit uncomfortable knowing your secret." He admitted sheepishly.
I pouted, "Don't be."
"What?" He asked, slightly jumping.
"Why would you be uncomfortable now when our relationship is just progressing. Wait, that came out wrong." I giggled.
He held my shoulders and dragged me to my side, probably for me not to hit something or someone.
"Yes, that did come out wrong. I think you mean when we just started to get close." He pointed out.
"Yup!" I said, popping the p.
He chuckled and ruffled my hair, "So cute."
I ignored him and turned back around to walk properly.
We reached the elevator and I checked the time.
"It's past eight already, I told you that you shouldn't have froze when I changed personalities." I scolded Xander.
"Hey! It's not my fault you changed all of a sudden." He defended, putting his arms in the air.
I rolled my eyes and pressed the button for the seventh floor.
"Hey, what's your relationship with Jacob?" Xander asked, tilting his head.
"I may or may not spent some time with him in the rooftop and fell asleep on his shoulder." I admitted sheepishly.
Xander cursed under his breath, "He didn't do anything, did he?"
"Nah, we just talked and laughed." I replied, "Why are you suddenly being so nosy?"
"I-it's not like I take interest in you or anything." He stuttered and cursed again.
I hit the back of his head, "You're so weird. But cute."
"Wh-what? I-I mean, is that a compliment?" He asked, reddening a bit.
I rolled my eyes, "Depends on how you take it. And are you blushing?"
"No!" He denied.
"Ooh, someone's in denial!" I teased.
"Who?" A voice suddenly asked.
I jumped in surprise, "What the heck?! Last time I checked, this elevator wasn't haunted."
Adi entered the elevator, "You two were to busy flirting you didn't even notice the elevator doors open."
I snorted, "Flirting?"
"W-we weren't flirting." Xander said, reddening a bit.
Adi rolled his eyes, "It's okay Xander. All men have been there."
"Been where?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.
"Been to the frie- mph!" His words were muffled when Xander covered his mouth.
"Fried chicken?" I asked, giggling to myself.
"Y-yeah! Fried chicken, that's it!" Xander said, taking his hand off of Adi's mouth.
Adi laughed, "Grow some balls dude."
"Shut up." Xander said.
"Alright, you two explain what's happening right now." I told them.
"It takes time, Dayana. It takes time." Adi said, patting Xander's back.
I sighed, "Boys."
"Are amazing, thanks Dayana." Adi thanked me.
"When did I say-" I was cut off when Adi shushed me.
"You just said that a while ago. Does that answer your question?" Adi asked.
I opened my mouth to protest but he did answer my question but I didn't say that boys are amazing.
Only one boy is.
Scratch that, was.
"Boys are stupid." I growled.
"Does that include me?" Xander asked.
"Yes." I said, crossing my arms.
Adi laughed, "Damn, this is too much for me."
The elevator reached the seventh floor and I skipped to the announcement room.
Opening the glass doors, everyone's eyes landed on me.
"Hi!" I said cheerfully and went to the seat in front.
Xander jogged up to me and sat to the seat in my right, Adi occupying the seat next to him.
Occupying? That's a big word, gimme a prize!
"Alright, now that we are complete, let's start announcing the partners." Lawrence announced.
Leon grabbed the mic from him, then Lawrence took it again, and they were just fighting over the mic.
"Guys!" I yelled, "It's better if the mic is in a horizontal form, it'll be easier to steal it."
They nodded and positioned the mic horizontally.
In the end, Leon won over that tug-of-war using the mic as a rope.
"Anyways-"
"Give it to me, little bro!" Lawrence yelled and grabbed the mic.
I rolled my eyes and went up to the stage.
"What are you-" they were cut off when I took the mic and lists of partners.
"Leon and Lawrnce, Glaze and Bela, Nicholas and Ariela- Oh, I ship it, Faith and Hannah...."

"Jump!" I yelled at Xander.
He jumped out of reflex and glared at me.
"Can you not startle me next time? Are you crazy or what?" He asked.
"I'm crazy." I replied, taking out a stabbed knife on the wall.
I heard Xander stumble back, "I-it has blood on it!"
"I know." I said and wiped the blood with my palm, cutting myself.
"Are you crazy? Why did you do that?!" Xander exclaimed and took my hand.
"I was careless." I said with a giggle and snatched my hand back at him to wipe it on my shirt.
"Oh, dang. I'm wearing a white shirt." I complained.
He took my hand and wiped it on his shirt, "God... only five minutes in this place you're already injured."
I stuck my tongue out like a kid and started walking again.
Xander jogged up to me and I was about to get hit by a knife when he tackled me to the ground.
"This... is awkward." I said with a giggle.
Xander blushed, "S-sorry."
I pushed him off me and hopped over a pair of daggers on the floor.
"This was already in last year, can they not change it?" I asked.
I tripped over and my chin hit the second checkpoint.
"Yay." I said, deadpanned.
"Are you okay?" Xander asked.
"Yup." I replied, rubbing my chin.
When I stood back up, the entire room turned white.
"Classic room color change." I muttered and grabbed Xander's wrist.
"What are you-" he was cut off when I pushed him forward.
"Nice job, Xander!" I said and applauded him.
"What are you talking about?" He asked me.
I giggled, "You just dodged a bullet."
"Okay, why are you suddenly using metaphors?" He asked suspiciously.
I pointed to the walls, "They have guns planted on them."
His mouth formed and 'o' and just stayed in his spot.
I jumped over the bullet that passed and landed in front of Xander.
"H-how-" I cut him off when I grabbed his wrist and ran forward.
We managed to pass that room and now we were in the last checkpoint.
"How many minutes have passed?" I asked him.
"About thirty minutes." He replied.
I cursed, "Wow."
In the next room, all the traps were on the floor. One wrong move and you're dead.
I stepped purposely on the wrong step and the tile fell off.
"Okay, that's what mostly happens if you get lucky. If you choose the wrong one and you're unlucky, hounds come our way." I told Xander.
"Hounds?" He asked.
"Our pet bears, lions, tigers, and wolves." I replied, "No, they are not tamed."
He visibly gulped.
I stepped on a good tile, "Okay, just follow my steps."
I sensed him nod behind me and I stepped on another tile that had plastic blades and not real ones.
I giggle, "Leon should be more creative."
I stepped on one that had fake lasers.
"Hey, how do you know the good ones?" Xander asked from behind.
"Just look at it closely." I replied, "For example, if I look at the tile in front of me, I know it's fake, so, when I step on it, hounds will come."
I stepped on it and no alarm was set off. Yet.
"Are you crazy?!" He asked for the zillionth time.
"Yes!" I replied, hopping over another trap.
"How did I end up having you as a partner?" He muttered under his breath.
I giggled, "You better hurry up, rookie, 'cause I can sense hounds coming our way."
"Hounds?"
Before I could answer, an alarm going off stopped me.
I giggled, "Time to die!"
