GIRLS

Leaning against the bar counter and boredly staring at the dancing teenagers and intoxicated youths— either from drug or alcohol, at this point, she didn't care, Kaori heaved a sigh. She brought her now pink-colored cocktail to her glossy lips, taking a sip of the sweet and alcoholic beverage. Her dark brown doe eyes swept the room full of prepubescent hormonal teenagers.

She felt slightly irked after sending yet another drunk boy away. The flirting was fun in small doses and when she was up for it, but it got both tiring and annoying in the long run. With her left hand, she let her fingers thread through her chestnut-colored hair, tangling and untangling them. As if the motion would make time pass faster.

Hikari was back on the dancefloor, skipping and waltzing to tables with a glass of beer as a bright grin adorned her face. Kaori didn't know what her twin had in mind, but hse felt like she had collected enough black material for the night and didn't need any more. She stared at her sister's back, keeping an eye on her glass to make sure no one added some unidentified substances to the drink before she pulled her phone out from her purse.

She was about to send a message full of complaints to her sister when she caught sight of a group of girls. It wasn't that they were pretty or exuberant. Simply, Kaori, as an experienced party girl, knew when she saw a newborn calf. And these girls, no matter how she looked at them, reeked of their mother's milk. She didn't know what they were doing here, but she felt slightly worried.

Kaori picked her glass up, about two-thirds of the cocktail remained, she wasn't going to down it, nor was she going to throw it away. With used elegance, she walked across the dancefloor, to the entryway where the group was. Her eyes scanned the girls.

Although they didn't belong to this kind of environment, they didn't seem out of place either. Her eyes fell on the blue-haired one, well, apart from this one maybe, she mused, as she brought the glass to her lips. Observing the girl with gothic lolita styled clothing, she minutely widened her eyes. Was that a boy cross-dressing as a girl?

She almost snickered at the realization. Times have changed. She thoughts nostalgically. She knew Hikari was looking at her, after all, it was Hikari's reflex, to keep on eye on her every move. She didn't care, though. She could understand her twin's worry. As if to answer her thoughts, she felt a pair of fin arms snake around her waist, and a chin rest on her shoulder, stopping her in her endeavor.

"Where are ya going, Kaori?" the mellow voice of her twin whispered in her ear. Kaori felt the grip around her tightening, most probably to restrain her movements, and she lightly slapped Hikari's hands in rebuttal.

"I saw an interesting group, so I was going to say hi," she told her as she wriggled out of the older girl's arms.

Hikari hummed, her purplish-brown eyes narrowed before she flicked her gaze to look at the said group. She raised an eyebrow. "Is that a boy?" she asked skeptically. As people who worked in the fashion industry, both Kaori and Hikari knew humans build the most. Therefore, despite the male's androgynous body and girl clothes, they had no trouble identifying his gender.

Kaori hummed, nodding in agreement as she resumed her way to the group, Hikari following closely behind. "It is," she confirmed.

"What the hell," Hikari mumbled, an amused smile dawning on her face.

Kaori shrugged, eyes minutely looking at her twin. "Who knows, maybe he broke a vase and fell into debts," she joked. Hikari snorted at her words before entering a laughing fit, probably the alcohol getting to her.

Kaori grabbed one of her twin's hand. Intertwining their fingers so they wouldn't get separated, she led the way through the crowd. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the boy get dragged off by someone. It took her a second to recognize the boy as Norita Yuji. She didn't worry much, although Yuji was a spoiled brat, he was far from dangerous. The moment you rid him of his father's fortune and power, he was a mere ant under her feet. With his father? He was a cockroach.

Instead, she gazed back at the girls. Noticing the group of thugs that began to flirt with them, she upped her pace, her strides grew longer and her face colder. She was about to tell the male off when she saw one of the girls, the one with light brown hair led into a ponytail, step in front of the group.

She didn't know what the girl said with the music blasting her ears, and she was a bit far to see the motif on the pin she showed them, but the boys scurried away the moment they saw it. This picked her interest. And here she thought those girls wouldn't survive for a second. She exchanged a look with her twin, both their eyes glinted in mischief. There was no need for words between them, a look was enough.

"—skills for entertaining and negotiating. Don't you think that this would be the ultimate blade when going into society?" Toka explained after scaring the group of thugs away. She had a proud smile on her face as she looked at her surprised classmates.

"Oh? So it was a Yakuza pin?" the foreign voice brought Toka out of her explanations. She wiped her head to stare at the owner of the voice, only to be met with the enchanting figure of a teenager, probably a few years older than them.

"Who are—"

"What do you think, Kaori?" the girl asked, ignoring Toka's words and the growing wariness of the girls. The girl with a ponytail and Bordeaux sweater turned to the one wearing a dress and threw her the pin.

The girls felt the tension growing. They didn't know what the duo wanted with them, but they couldn't allow themselves to lose too much time. Yada quickly regained her bearings, seeing the duo staring at the pin she borrowed from Bitch-sensei, she cleared her throat.

"Excuse me, this is mine. I don't think my father would be happy if I lost his badge," she told them with a carefree grin, opting for the same intimidation method as with the thugs before. After all, from the duo's reaction, they seemed to be a bit knowledgeable about the Yakuza world.

The one who held the badge, the girl with the wool dress, looked up. She raised an eyebrow, and Yada knew her intimidation resulted in a loss. The girl jungled with the pin for a bit before handing it back to the shorter one. She took a sip of her pink cocktail, bringing the attention to her drink for the first time.

"Really?" she inquired, taking a step to better look at Yada's face. Seeing her suddenly approach, the group tensed up. It was also Toka's first time taking a clear look at the girl. She seemed a bit familiar she mused. Kaori's gaze traveled Toka's body before she nodded. "You've got a good figure," she complimented. "Isn't that right, Hikari?"

Hearing her name, the older twin waltzed closer. "Uhm, true," she acknowledged. "Here," he said as she handed the badge back to the girl.

At the name 'Hikari', a light bulb seemed to lit up in Fuwa's head. She went closer to Toka and looked at the twins. "Are you models?" she asked. The twin nodded and she widened her eyes. "Oh! Are you the Seki twins? Hikari and Kaori?" she inquired excitedly.

It wasn't that Fuwa was a fan, but she felt like this could be an opportunity for the future.

Hikari giggled, not hiding her identity as there was no use in doing so, she proudly claimed her name and her sister's before resting her elbow on her twin's shoulder.

Kataoka frowned, seeing that Fuwa was about to go into aimless chatters and that Yada would follow her lead, she stepped in. "Excuse me. I'm not sure who you are, and I truthfully do not care," her words made the Seki twins take another look at her— she had a Haruhi vibe, they thought. "But I want to ask what do you need from us?" she inquired, standing in front of the group protectively.

Both Kaori and Hikari blinked at her words. They shared a look before shrugging in sync. "I dunno?" Hikari began.

"What do we need?" Kaori followed.

There was a pause and the two twins focused their gaze on Meg before grinning and answering in sync. "Nothing, probably!"

Kataoka's brow twitched. They didn't have the time to deal with some bored teenagers. They had a mission to accomplish and classmates to save! She was about to speak up, but the twins interrupted her.

Kaori, the most seductive of the two, tilted Meg's chin so that she could plunge into her eyes. An effect of the heels the twin wore as Meg was a few centimeters taller without them. The model's lips stretched into a mischievous smile, and Meg felt her whole face flush.

Although it wasn't at Bitch-sensei's level, she had to admit that the girl in front of her knew how to exude sex appeal and use her charms to her guise. "The question should be," she whispered.

"What do you want?" Hikari finished as she tilted her head to blow into the class representative's ear. Yada who looked at them, much like her other classmates, felt like this was a perfect application of Bitch-sensei's course, and for a moment, she froze.

One thought coursed through their minds, and before she could consider the validity of the notion, the words rolled off Kayano's tongue. "Are you guys 'Shadow'?"

The question seemed unexpected, and from their reaction, the students deduced two things. Either Shadow wasn't them, or they were extremely good at pretending and playing innocent.

Kaori and Hikari echoed the word at the same time before staring at one another. Finally letting go of Kataoka's chin, they chuckled. "I don't know who this Shadow you're looking for is, but the only Shadow we remotely know wouldn't step into this kind of room," Kaori giggled.

Hikari nodded. "Yep, Kyoya-senpai, 'the Shadow King' would rather jump a building," she air quoted as she joked with some nostalgia.

Listening to the duo's words, the 3-E girls deduced that they probably weren't talking about the same person. "Is that so," Kataoka tried to answer as she took a step back.

Kaori, the rational twin, looked at them for a few seconds. Her eyes flicked to the exit where a few glanced and she raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to pass the corridor?" she voiced after some thoughts.

Her question made the group still, and she supposed she hit the nail on the head. She walked to the exit to take a look and turned back to the group with a raised eyebrow. "Is it the guard?" she asked them with minute surprise. She saw them tense further, confirming her question.

Hikari's eyes narrowed and her lips drew into a large, dangerous smile. For a moment, the E-class girls were reminded of Karma's face when he began to plot some pranks. "Ohoho? Is this what I think it is?"

The group gulped, they needed to get out of this situation quickly, lest the Seki twins threw them to the security. Kaori whistled. "So you were trespassing," she mumbled.

The girls felt their confidence crumbling. They bit their lower lip, readying themselves to go on the offense or flee if worse came to worst. "Whatever," Hikari's words broke their growing tension and they looked at her warily. "Who never broke into a highly secured building for the heck of it?" she rhetorically asked as she looked at her twin.

Kaori snickered. "Yeah," she drawled. "Who?" her eyes flicked to the group and she told them, "watch and learn," the girls skeptically watched her. Karori downed her cocktail, she took two wobbly steps, brought a hand to her head as if it was throbbing and let her glass fall and shatter to the ground.

Hikari hurried to help her sister up. "Oh my God, Kaori, are you alright?" she cried, bringing attention to the duo.

Kaori looked at her sister with half-lidded eyes. "Hikari, I see the light," she whispered, a peaceful smile on her lips.

"No! Kaori! Turn back, don't go there!"

"I love you, Hikari."

"Kaori!"

"Hikari!"

The 3-E girls watched the duo with some fascination, they saw the guard come to see the commotion and hurried to call Nagisa to them. While the duo kept on upping their drama level, the Kunugigaoka students scurried away to help the remaining E-class student join them.
