Chapter 3
Another Kick Ass Banner By @Mystical_Panda
Thank you
We stayed at the swing till it started to get dark and finally took off. We used the tree to get back on Letty, but she didn't like it much and it took a little longer to straddle her. It was totally dark when we got closer to the houses.
"Next time lets leave sooner, I hate riding her in the dark." I say, after she bucked a little from some car coming down the road. I calm her by stroking her neck.
"Good idea. Hey, I never asked you yet, you are going to the prom this year, riigght?" He said it all longer then needed.
"You know I don't go to those Travis." I said to him, but I really did plan on going, cause I knew he wanted to go so bad this year, but decided to keep it a secret and suprise him later about it.
"Come on Kendall, this is our last year, we got to at least go once?"
"Look, getting dressed up just isn't my thing Travis you know that. Just go, you'll have fun without me." I said, with a smirk that he couldn't see.
"No I won't. Please Kendall, one night is all I'm asking?"
I could tell he was getting sad again, so I had to say something for him to stop asking about it.
"Did you ask Lexy yet? "
"Ya, she was expecting me to ask her. So you going or what?" He persisted without letting it go.
"I don't know for sure, stop bugging me about it Travis."
"You know I'll cancel and not go if you don't, I'm not going if you won't be there too."
"I would kick your ass if you cancel. Lexy would too. Now just shut up about it, I'm not making any promises. Kay?"
"Ok, so it's a yes." He said all confident.
"Whatever." I ended it.
We made it back to the stable safely. We said good night to each other and Travis took off home. I went into the house to go to bed, but my dad was sitting on the couch and started yelling at me when I came in.
"Hey Kendall, you can't be riding that horse when its dark!" He yelled, making sure I heard him from the kitchen.
"I know dad, sorry. We tried to rush when the sun was going down, but Letty got all scared being close to the tree as we straddled her." I said, walking to the entrance of the living room where he was sitting.
"Why the hell you riding her without a saddle?"
"Its just more comfortable that way with two people riding dad."
"Oh, you with that Travis kid again?" He said, lighting a cigarette while watching TV.
I walked to the couch next to him and sat down. I notice he was on his fourth beer, which was an ok time to talk to him, otherwise he easily snaps if he's drunk.
We had a coffee table next to the couch with an ash tray that was the size of wheel sitting on it. He was watching some crime show. I put my feet on the coffee table to get more comfortable and decided to talk to him before going to bed.
He liked talking to us, unlike my mom who would avoid us at all cost. It was like she spit three kids out and told my dad "Now you deal with them." That's how it felt at least with her.
"Yep."
"Why is it you spend so much time with that boy, don't you have any girlfriends?"
"No dad, I'm not gay." I said, joking to him.
We both laughed and he ashed his cigarette in the wheel next to my feet.
"You know what I mean, when you going to actually get some normal friends like your sister has?"
"First off girls suck dad, you know I don't like what they like." I said, shoving his arm with my elbow and continued.
"Blame it on Clay, he molded me into what I am today, following everything he did you guys got him into."
"Ya I know, we kind of left you girls out of a lot." He sadly said, watching the TV.
Damn it! Now my dads sad. Great.
I got up and walked off looking back at him smiling with a comment that would make him cheer up real quick.
"I still love you DADDY."
