Chapter 14
Laugher exploded from his gut and he got up.
"I'm out of here!" I said angrily, walking back to the quad.
"Oh come on Kendall, don't get all butt hurt. Your the one that made me go over the berm in the first place. Stay for dinner, my mom is making spaghetti tonight."
His mom's spaghetti was to die for. I would usually stay over if she made it. She would mixed all the ingredients together and make a big loaf of garlic french bread to go with it. He knew I would say yes to that anytime. I walked to the quad and didn't answer him though. I started it and rode up to where he was flipping his quad back on its wheels.
"Fine!" I said, as I rode past him to put it away in the garage. He looked my way and smiled.
After putting the quads away we went into the house. The garage connected to the kitchen to get back into the house. The smell coming from the kitchen filled my nose soon as we stepped in. It was heaven smelling the aroma of garlic and tomato sauce in the air. I was real hungry after that. Travis was rubbing his stomach with his eyes closed when we entered.
"Yes, thank you mom, can't wait."
"Ya, Andrea it smells so good."
"Your welcome guys, but it's not done yet. I'll call you in when it is." She said, stirring the sauce.
"Lets go watch some TV while we wait." He said, walking to the living room.
"Ok."
They had a big living room with a huge recliner couch the wrapped around the whole room. They also had a big 50 inch TV attached to the wall above the fireplace.
Travis went to sit on one of the couch's recliner. I sat next to him in the other recliner of the couch. These two spots were the most comfortable to be in on the couch and it was a better straight forward sight to watch TV too. He turned the TV on and flipped through some channels. He stopped on the Simpsons and I laughed.
"What? This is funny, I love watching it."
"But its the old ones."
"I don't care, I like all of them. You know you like the Simpsons too."
"I do, but not the old ones. Look at the animation in this, its so lame."
We mocked the show for a awhile and laughed how there voices were all different except for Bart's. His mom called us in about the time the show was over and we went in the kitchen to eat. I sat across from Travis at the table, while his mom took an end spot.
"So Travis says your going to be going to the prom this year."
"Yep, did he also say he would kill me if I didn't go?" I ask, looking at Travis with a smirk. I suddenly felt his foot hit me under the table.
"Ow! What? You were persistent I go right?" I smiled.
"Ya your right."
"Travis!" She gave him the (I'm going to be the one to kick you next time) look and then looked at me and smiled.
"Well that's good you are going. You won't ever forget it. You guys are going to have a real good time."
"That's what everyone is saying." I rolled my eyes towards my plate, so she didn't see it, but Travis did and he smirked at me twirling his fork into his spaghetti.
"We will, I just know it, I can't wait."
More like you can't wait for Lexy to give it to you. I started to secretly laugh to myself while I ate. Not much more was said while we all finished our plates.
Afterwards Travis and I washed the dishes, then cleaned up the kitchen counters. It was late and I had to go home if I wanted to get enough sleep to get up in the morning for school. What I didn't know yet was that I might be up later then expected.
I said bye to Travis and his mom and closed the door behind me.
As I was walking across the street, I heard someone yelling from inside my house. It was my dads voice, he was yelling at my mom again. I got to the door and stopped before opening it. I decided to go through my window instead.
I did not want to walk through any cross fire I might encounter between those two.
"You don't have to smoke with them!" I heard my dad screaming.
"They are my co-workers and I can smoke with who ever I want to!" My mom yelled, firing back.
Crash
That is what I heard when I got into my room. My sister started knocking on my door asking for me to let her in. I didn't like her in my room, but tonight I would make an exception. When our parents argued, for one they were always drinking. For two my dad never hit my mom, but he would destroy the house or break things. My mom knew how to make him mad and wouldn't care. I hated her for that. My dad could get a little crazy when he was mad, but she just makes it worse.
"Kendall, please let me in." She cried behind the door.
I went to the door to open it.
