Chapter 10

I never do this, but I figured you guys would have loved to see Kendall's dress for the prom.

School was finally over and I couldn't wait to kick Travis's ass for what he said today. When I walked up to the parking lot though, he was already gone.

Ya, thats right, he knew he was going to be in for it if he stayed. I knew I could get him when I got home though. The other guys were out there, so I got into there conversation before I took off. They were still talking about the prom as everyone else was. It kind of reminded me of my own doom for the big day. My mom said she was going to take me this weekend to get my dress. I shoved that thought out of my head as I got closer to them.

"Crystal? Well that is just a given, she'll go out with anyone." Derf said, laughing at Caleb.

"You wish you had her, jealous junky."

Laughter rolled through the crowd of guys.

"Hey Kendall, Caleb asked Crystal today to the prom." Robby said, coming out of his laughter.

"Wow Caleb, I'm sure that wasn't to hard."

Laughter again rolled through all of us.

Crystal was one girl in school I'm sure everyone has dated at least once every year. She had boyfriends off and on though out the whole school. No one could keep track. She was nice though, not like the bitch pack, those girls were just horrible.

I think that was the worst part of this hell hole I was in. The school work was the other problem about coming to this place. It was just lame to be learning things I didn't want to learn about. If I want to get a job at a certain place, I would want to learn that and only that, not how each president changed history in some way. Sometimes I didn't get school at times, what was the point, when you went to college afterwards to get what you really wanted anyway.

I got bored of their conversation after awhile and started to walk to my truck to leave.

"Where you going Kendall?" Kurt said, out of everyone laughing and talking.

"I'm going to get home and find out what happened to Travis."

"He took off with Lexy somewhere, I doubt he is going to be home."

"Ok well I am done with all the girly shit talk anyway. You guys have fun, I'm out."

They all said bye to me and I headed out thinking about Travis. I wanted to slap him so bad, I planned on waiting till he got back if he wasn't home yet to do just that.

When I got home, I notice his truck was not in his drive way. So I went to go feed the animals before getting to my homework. My phone buzzed when I was done feeding and started to brush Letty. I looked at it thinking it was going to be Travis texting me an apology, but instead it was some wierd number.

505-435-6634

It's Zack, what time are you wanting my driver to be there?  Prom starts at seven.

I punched his name into my contact memory of my phone, so I knew who was texting me before replying to him.

What did he mean by driver? I knew he was wealthy, but what was that about? Doesn't a guy come to the door and get the girl for a prom date? This is guy is so odd, I thought to myself and asked him what he meant by that.

Me

Your driver is going to be at my house to pick me up?

Zack

Yes, if you will be ready.

Me

You going to be in the car, right?

Zack

Yes.

Me

Your not planning to come to my door and get me?

Zack

I can, if you want, I guess.

Wow!! He was so wierd, maybe he never went on a date before. I remember him having a few girlfriends once before, but they didn't last that long. I think I understand why now. I'm just going to have to tell him what I expect from him then.

Me

Zack that would be the most appropriate thing to do. My dad might be home and will want to know who is taking me out to the prom. I'm sure he would get upset, if I ran out to a car and didn't introduce you first.

Zack

Ok, your right, sorry. I'll come to the door, what time?

Me

I don't know, what time you want me to be ready?

Zack

I'll be there excatly at 6, ok?

Me

Ok.

I finished brushing Letty after texting Zack. I went back to the house and noticed my mom was home. Her and dad were drinking and listening to music, while my sister was in the living room with them dancing and singing away. I went to turn down the music, so I could talk to them about my date for the prom.

"Hey this guy I'm going with to the prom is not my boyfriend."

They seemed to not care what I was saying though, so I raised my voice a bit. "Are you guys even listening?!"

"We know Kendall, now turn the music back up." My mom said, walking up to the radio.

"Just letting you know, I don't need you guys getting all weird on me."

"I'll get weird if your going to be gone all night." My dad said, right before mom turned the music back up. "Better be home at a decent time."

"Mom dads talking to me!" I yelled, but she didn't care and sat down next to dad ignoring me. So I leaned over the couch instead to tell dad about the after party.

"They are going to have a little get together after the prom, can I go to that?"

"No drinking."

"I won't be drinking dad."

"Ya, sure you won't, anyway just be home before twelve."

"Ok, thanks dad." I said and kissed him on the cheek.

I went out front to see if Travis made it back yet, but his truck was still gone. I thought about texting him, but didn't want to bug him if he was with Lexy still. I didn't want to hang out with my parents either, so I decided just to go to my room and finish up on homework instead. I didn't see Travis home for the rest of the weekend. I figured it was maybe his job that gave him more hours or I just missed him when he went out.

Sunday rolled around and my mom was up all chirpy with the birds. I couldn't stand having to go through this shopping thing, but she was all happy about it.

"Come on Kendall move it!" She yelled, opening the door.

"I'm coming!" I said, coming out of my room.

 "Jeez."

She had me try on at least 10 dresses before I finally said yes on the blue one. All the dresses were so over the top fancy. The blue one was the least fancy out of all of them. I couldn't see myself wearing that thing all night and decided to take some extra clothes with me just in case. Mom was happy too that I finally settled on something, cause she looked like she was going to kill me after the eighth try on.

"Good, now we can leave?" She said, getting up.

"Your telling me? Who wears this crap? It's not like I'm getting married mom." I rolled my eyes at her.

 "It's just a stupid dance."

"It's not just any dance, it's the prom, trust me your going to love it."

"Whatever."
