Two Years Ago            

" What nuisance this is to have her with us when Ragini will reach her marriageable age soon, how am I supposed to answer about her origins to Ragini prospective in-laws " Parvati Gadodia spoke up to his son showing her dissatisfaction for his recent actions.              

" What am I supposed to do ma?   Sharmistha is dead and I am all she got now. " Shekhar Gadodia answered back as if death had been the one thing Swara's mother wished upon herself.                

" She should have taken the secret to the grave, rather than telling the one about you. Did you see her standing proudly in our house demanding to see you, " Parvati Gadodia spoke up, she had taken an instant dislike towards Swara, she didn't like the way she dressed and she didn't like the complications she would create for her laddoo's marriage?                  

" Don't worry ma, she is the eldest and we will marry her off to someone quickly then my responsibilities towards her will be over " Shekhar Gadodia answered back as if his own daughter was a burden.               

" Who will marry her in our circle? She is illegitimate and has been brought up by her mother who worked in a bar, " Parvati Gadodia answered back spewing venom of words that hit Swara directly in her heart. Swara knew she shouldn't be eavesdropping on their conversation but she wanted to know her place in the house.       

Her mother wasn't someone they should speak lightly about, they were the ones who threw her out on the street when she had been pregnant and helpless. Her mother did her best to raise her up until she got sick.  She worked as a cashier in the bar, a very respectable job unlike what they were implying. And her last wish had been for Swara to live with her father.                              

" We will find someone who takes her up, she is pretty like her mother but I will not spend one penny on her Shekhar, " Parvati Gadodia answered back ending the discussion and Swara walked away with the realization that they would never be her family.

She may live with them but she will never let them have a day of peace, they will regret their actions towards her mother and until then she has no intention of marrying anyone.

Today was supposed to be the day he married the love of his life, but he was alone in his room that night because she was dead. His heart refused to accept that she was no more.             

 His world was covered in darkness and sleep eluded him as he made his way out of his house and drove around aimlessly until he reached the graveyard where she was laid to rest.              

It was close to midnight and he thought he was alone in his grief until his eyes found someone else in the graveyard before him. In the distance, he couldn't make her out, but he still could hear her heart-wrenching sobs and it was as if she also lost someone so close to her.               

He didn't want to intrude on her grief as he walked back to his car and waited for her, it had been a moonless night that when she made her way out she was still shrouded in darkness but he followed her until she reached inside her home.            

Back then he didn't know their paths would cross once again and she will become the light that dispels his darkness. And back then he didn't know it will start because of his family matchmaking plans as well.
