Chapter 24: His Concern
Shekhar, Jayant and the men were dragged by the police. While Nayonika was being arrested by the female constable who showed up to the site.
Sameer looked down, feeling bad for his mother yet so angry and frustrated that her arrest wasn't a shock for him. He knew, one day Shekhar had to be arrested and so did his mother, no matter how silent she stayed.
"Thank you." Sheesh thanked the senior officer, who merely nodded at him. "Please come to the police station tomorrow to have your statements recorded." Sheesh nods and the officer glanced at everyone there, "everyone please. . ." They nod at the officer who starts to head towards the exit.
"Where's Swara?" Kavita asked while glancing around, confused yet worried.
Sameer, Sheesh and Sahil glance around too, unable to find her.
"And Sanskaar, he's also not here." Sujata noticed and spoke, grabbing their attention.
"Did the two already leave?" Sahil wondered and creased his forehead, "without us and just the two together?" He sounded even more confused and in disbelief.
"Try calling them." Sheesh suggested and Sameer took his phone out, dialling her number.
"It's switched off." He instantly uttered after tapping call button, only to hear nothing but a lady about to say that the phone is switched off.
"I'll try calling him. . ." Sahil offered and took his phone out, unlocking it to call Sanskaar.
**
She was walking down the dark lonely path with him following her from a distance. She was broken and he was worried for her. Her mind was occupied with the revelation and tears continued seeping down, her whole life had turned upside down. From her existence to who she is now was merely a lie, in her eyes.
'That's why he never loved me and treated me right.' Was the thought barging in between her thoughts and she couldn't help but cry while walking.
He swallowed, hearing her cries and watched her walk towards the main road, his eyes moved to the side and he watched a car approaching her. Noticing she hasn't realised, he ran as fast as he could and held onto her arm, pulling her towards him as the car whizzed pass.
"Swara. . ." He stopped after she continued crying, closing her eyes while loosing control over her emotions.
She couldn't even be bothered anymore, she couldn't stop something that was hurting her more than she ever felt.
"Why. . . Why me?" She clenched onto his shirt while falling onto the ground and he sits on his knees along with her.
"What should I do?" She sobbed and slowly opened her watery eyes, "m. . . My whole life was a. . . LIE!"
He caressed her hair and she continued to cry. Her emotions were scattered all over the place and all that she could hear in her mind was Shekhar's confession.
He exhaled and closed his eyes, sensing a tinge of fire inside his heart and remained clueless to why he was feeling so much pain hearing her cry.
He let her be, letting her lean on his chest and cry her heart out. He wanted to console and calm her down but wasn't sure what to say or what to do. He isn't intending to hurt her by his words.
"I always thought why I wasn't treated right and why I wasn't loved. . . Now I know the reason and it, it hurts. I never. . ." She stopped and cried, closing her eyes again and he inhaled, deciding to speak this time.
"W. . . I. . . It's good you're not his daughter. He never deserved you. He's a cold blooded murder and a child kidnapper, he should be punished in hell." He uttered and she sniffed, opening her eyes while listening to him. "You were too pretty to be his daughter. . . He looks like a skinned old gorilla, who. . ."
"It's not helping." She interrupted as she spoke in her cracky tone while wiping her tears and he stopped.
"Right. . . Sorry. I'm just, really bad at consoling. I don't have much to say, I. . . I think you shouldn't waste your precious tears." He apologised and grit his teeth embarrassingly, leaning slightly back while looking down at her. She lifted her head and glanced up at him. "If we see it this way. . . It's a blessing that you aren't Shekhar Gadodia's daughter. He didn't deserve you. He would've left your mother anyways if you were still his daughter. He would be punished till the roots of hell and you. . . You're you Swara. Your name is Swara and your existence isn't a lie, you are alive and breathing and being who you are. . . I agree your family history changed but you will never be born again, you'll be a unique piece until you die." He added and swallowed while she flapped her watery eyes at him confusingly, watching his blabber on and on "who's daughter you are and who's family you belong to will never change who you are. I know it must be hard for you to deal with this fact, I can never relate and it's okay to be upset and sad, it's okay to cry but you can't fall weak, you cry only to grow stronger again. Take a moment to feel heartbroken but also take a moment to fix yourself again. Shekhar's destination is now in jail and you have your whole life ahead of you. . . From now, you can begin your own journey Swara, a journey where no one can control you and a path which you decide to pave."
"Sanskaar. . ." She stopped as he reached closer to her face and wiped her tears, shocking her with his sudden move. "You don't look good with tears, you look jungly." He teased and she narrowed her eyes at him.
"See, now you look like the Swara I know." He added and tapped her nose with his fingertip, "who always had anger over her nose."
"You. . ." He didn't let her complete this time either and interrupted, "it's okay not to be okay." She closed her mouth and blinked. "Talk your heart out, now that you're calm, tell me what's on your mind."
"I have nothing to say."
"You do. I know you do, I can feel it." He uttered and touched her forehead, "is this gone to sleep?"
"What. . . What is wrong with you?" She asked and left his shirt, wiping her eyes again. "What is wrong with me? I'm just consoling in my way."
"This isn't consoling, you're being weird."
"How am I being weird?"
"You're. . . I don't know, just weird." She looked back at him and he looked at her, "and you're being a crybaby."
Her mouth dropped and she punched him in the stomach, "what?" She sounded offended and he leaned forward, gasping as he held onto his stomach. "Crybaby? I'm just. . . This whole thing has been tiring and awful and you're here trying to pick a fight with me? You're just an idiot!"
"Then tell me." He straightened his posture and changed his expressions, "I want to know how awful and tiring this situation is for you."
"You already know. You already heard and you already seen, what else is left for you to. . ." She was starting to be annoyed with him and he placed his hands over her lips, hushing her. "You're heartbroken to find that your birth ID was stolen from you. You're upset by the confession and revelation. You're hurt by what happened to your mother, Sharmishta. You're traumatised by Jayant. You're tired of fighting all alone. You're disgusted by Shekhar. You're slowly breaking and have no one to rely on. You're clueless and confused at this moment. You're facing too much troubles to handle all at once. You're not sure if you should be grateful that your not Shekhar's daughter or depressed that he's the reason why your life's all a mess. . . You're unable to figure out how to word out your feelings because you just can't, you can't tell anyone how you feel this moment because you don't know yourself. . ."
She was blank after hearing him speak and he removed his finger from her lips. How she felt was indeed something she couldn't really explain, words weren't enough to describe her inner turmoil.
"I know you're hurting and. . . It's okay not to be okay. It's okay to be sad, upset and not sure." He added and held her hand, assuring her.
She stared into his eyes and jerked her hand, coming back to her calmer state. "It doesn't matter now. . . Everything is over. . ."
"It does matter." He replied and she shakes her head, disagreeing. "You need to let it all out, till how long would you torture yourself by keeping it in?"
"Why do you even care?" She questioned and he went silent, "I'm just tired, tired of all of this that's happening and that has happened. I need a break, and go somewhere quiet where I can think about pulling myself back together peacefully."
"You can't go alone." He instantly uttered as soon as she stood up.
"Why do I need your assistance?"
"You nearly got hit by a car. I don't want you to. . ." He stopped, feeling confused himself. "I can take care of my. . ."
"No you can't. You'll be crying the whole time and you wouldn't realise when you're in danger. It's better if I stick around with you."
"You're going to make it more difficult for me. You're the first person I cried in front of and it's embarrassing!"
"How? I mean, everyone cry and it's normal."
She shakes her head, "I need time on my own."
"Okay, how about. . ." He trailed off and stood up, dusting the dirt off his trousers. "You go over there and think about everything. I'll wait here?" He stood straight and pointed in a direction.
"Why are you even bothered? Just leave. You. . . You don't need to do all this."
"I, technically am still hired as your bodyguard so. . ."
"I free you, now just get lost."
"As a civilian I cannot leave a girl alone is such a creepy isolated place. . ." He changed his direction of speech and Swara frustratedly walked off, done with his weirdness.
**
"Where could the two be? Are they even together?" Kavita asked worriedly and Sameer shrugged. "I hope both are safe."
"His phone is finally reached." Sahil yelled after successfully hearing the call go through.
"When he answers give me the phone." Sujata uttered and Sahil nodded at her.
Sheesh wiped his wound while thinking of something, leaning on the car bonnet.
"Is this the end?"
"Huh?" Sameer heard Sheesh and turned, looking at him. "Oh. Nothing." Sheesh brushed it off with a fake awkward smile.
"Hello. . ." Sahil trailed off and nodded, "where are you?"
Sujata snatched the phone from Sahil and held it over her ears. "Hello, Sanskaar?"
Sahil shook his head in disbelief, "where did you go? And is Swara okay? Is she with you?"
Sujata sighed a relief and closed her eyes, "thank god. Where are you?"
She opened her eyes again, "okay. Take care and come back soon."
The call disconnected and Sujata passed Sahil back his phone.
"What did he say?" Sujata looked at Kavita and smiled, "he said he's with Swara and they're perfectly fine. Swara needs some time on her own so he'll bring her with him when she's ready."
"How would they come?" Sameer asked and Sujata looked at him. "He said they're near the main road. Hopefully they'll find a taxi. Or he could even call for one."
Not fully convinced, Sameer shook his head positively.
"As long as Swara stays safe. I have no issues." Sameer uttered and Sujata nodded.
"I'm hoping she comes back soon, but we need to give her personal space. This must be too much for her to take in. She just found out her evil father isn't even her biological father, he stole her from someone else and. . . I can't even imagine what she must be going through." Kavita sadly spoke and shook her head, feeling bad for Swara.
"Hmm." They all hummed as they agreed with Kavita.
"I trust Sanskaar to bring Swara back safely." Sheesh uttered and looked at Sameer, "he might be a idiot but he isn't a bad person by heart." He added and Sahil nodded his head, agreeing.
"Aunty, you look tired. You need some rest, come, take a seat in the car." Sahil offered and Sujata shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Let's go." Sameer uttered after convincing himself. "We will find them on our way and pick them up." He added and headed towards the drivers seat.
"But. . ." Kavita stopped after being ignored by Sameer, who sat inside and closed the door.
**
Swara was walking, thinking about everything while Sanskaar followed her from a long distance.
She sighed and closed her eyes for two seconds before opening them. "Why is my life a mess?" She muttered to herself and glanced down at the floor, "Shekhar isn't my real father, and he stole me. Who. . . Who are my real parents? Are they still alive? How will I find them? Should I find them? Now what should I do? I'm not Shekhar's daughter does that mean I'm homeless now? Where would I stay? I can't go back to the house that was never mine. What should I do?" She continued mumbling to herself in a calmer version of herself.
She was merely confused this moment, blabbering all the thoughts in her mind.
"How can someone be so selfish like this? For the property he even swapped his child with me. . . Can a property really please a man? Does the property buy happiness?"
She sighed and glanced at the path in front of her, finding herself heading towards the woods, she stopped and changed directions, turning around to find Sanskaar missing.
"Where did he go?" She wondered and continued searching for him. "Did he leave?"
She was stood alone, not being able to find him and sighed, slowly taking her steps forward.
To Be Continued. . .
