Chapter 2: The Song
Sanskaar was impatiently waiting by the locker room, tapping his phone on his palm out of boredom.
"Sannnn." He heard his name and turned towards that familiar voice.
"Yeah? Did you find out anything?" He instantly asks and Sheesh, who was rushing towards him stops as he catches his breath.
"She likes music and chose her career path on that. She has two siblings, a sister and a brother. Her favourite dish is fish curry and she hates Loki. Her favourite colour is Black and she dislikes pink." Sanskaar blinked at Sheesh, astonished to hear so much.
"How strong is your stalking network man? How did you find all of this out?" Sanskaar asks, stunned and confused with how much he heard.
"Forget that but listen to this. . . I was sat in the canteen and luckily Kavita and Swara were sat behind me so I heard them talk. They were saying. . ." Sheesh utters, beginning to tell what he had heard.
"What's wrong with that rose guy?" Kavita asks Swara, who was taking a sip from her coke can.
"To be honest Kavita, if I didn't see him flirting with 10 girls at the same time and on the same day, then I wouldn't have a problem with him being your friend. I don't think he's right for you but overall it's your choice if you want to be his friend. I won't force you not to."
"10 girls? On the same day?"
"Tina, Meena, Sally, Amaira, Radhika, Sheetal, Lovleen, Niya, Pia J, Kanchi, Mousami, Sanjana, Arohi, Khushi, Praveen, Susan, Mala, Shivi, Dhanu, Sophie, Priya, Neeti, Sri, Haleem, Keerthi, Arya, Ammu, Verdu, Aditi, Alina, Meghu, Janvi, Tubi and the rest I forgot."
Kavita's eyes widened. "That's more than 10."
"If he can't be friend all of them then you know what type of guy he is. As a friend, I can only advice but the decision taking is yours. Always remember that and I know you would say that 'Swara, you take the decisions for me because you know the best' but it's you who should choose. All I can say is boys are smelly and you should stay away." Swara explains and Kavita starts thinking.
"I'll catch you later, I'm getting late for my class." Swara adds, standing up and Kavita looks at her.
"Swara, would you be there for the party?"
Swara struggles to speak as she seemed less interested. "I want to say no. . ." She trailed off and Kavita gave her the serious stares.
"But I'll be there." Swara adds, making a face which Kavita understood but ignored as she wanted Swara to come to the party. "Great! See you there." Kavita chirps and Swara nods, walking away.
"I forgot to add, she's Shekhar Gadodia's daughter." Sheesh completes and finishes telling while Sanskaar looks on.
"Shekhar Gadodia? The entrepreneur?" Sheesh shakes his head positively.
"See this, it runs in the family." Sheesh jokes and Sanskaar stares at him.
"Shut up. It's destiny. The destiny demands a Maheshwari and a Gadodia to remain rivals. That's why my Dad and Bade Papa have the rivalry with Shekhar and now I'm in line for the rivalry with Swara." Sanskaar explains and shakes his head in disbelief, not believing the new generation would continue that rivalry.
Sheesh laughs, "Imagine if that rivalry turns into love?"
"Me and that Swara? Are you serious? You're gone mad." Sanskaar utters, feeling slightly revolted.
"You never know. . ." Sheesh trails off and Sanskaar royally ignores him.
"What's that party thing?" He asks as he remembered.
"A party after college, the one where we were invited to. . .Remember?"
"Ohh, yeah. So Kavita's coming?" Sheesh shakes his head positively. "And she's forcing Swara to come too." Sheesh says.
Sanskaar starts to chuckle. "Swara and to that party? It'll be so funny to see her there." Sanskaar expresses, continuing to chuckle.
"Her clothes will be mismatched and she'd look like a joker." Sheesh says before he joined Sanskaar in chuckling.

Swara was sat alone, on the stool and in front of the microphone, which was held near her lips by the help of the stand.
"Hmmm, hmmmmmm." She starts humming, spreading her melodious voice across the empty room.
"Maana ke hum yaar nahin. . . Lo tay hai ke pyaar nahin. Maana ke hum yaar nahin, lo tay hai ke pyaar nahin." She sings, closing her eyes and playing with her voice to match the expectations and the pitch of that song.
"Phir bhi nazrein na tum milaana. Dil ka aitbaar nahi. Maana ke hum yaar nahi..." She continued and trailed off, taking a small break before starting to practice again.
Few of the students were stood outside the room, staring inside from the window.
"What a voice." A boy whispers to another boy and the others and they shake their heads to show they agree.
Sanskaar and Sheesh were walking past but were slightly confused, seeing the crowd pulled towards the music room.
Soon Swara's voice hit their eardrums, making them realise she's singing.
"Raaste mein jo milo toh. Haath milaane ruk jaana."
Sheesh and Sanskaar looked at each other and then walked towards the room, stopping near the window.
"Ho... Saath mein koi ho tumhare. . . Door se hi tum muskaana." Swara continues singing and her eyes land on the window, from which she could see many people standing outside and her eyes fall on Sanskaar.
"Lekin muskaan ho aisi. . ." He curves a wide fake smile while staring at her. "Ki jisme ikraar nahi." She continued and he touched his ears and gestured something, indicating his ear drums would explode.
"Lekin muskaan ho aisi, jisme ikraar nahi." She repeated and made a gun with her hand, pretending to shoot Sanskaar so that he could understand she dislikes his presence.
She had stopped singing and he dusted his shirt, pretending to drop the fake bullet she threw at him.
"It sounded like a dead crow asking for help before dying!" Sanskaar shouted, which echoed across the empty room.
"Good for you! Anyways, how would a hunter know the value of that crow." She replies, forgetting she was sat in front of the microphone. Her voice had managed to travel to the people at a distance.
Sanskaar understood that she lowkey designated him to be the hunter. "Whatever." He says in his normal tone, walking away.
"Aata tha aise jaise raja ho sabka. . ." She sang and Sanskaar halted near the door, after hearing her. "Dikhta toh aise jaise chuhe ka bill hai." She added, curving a smirk as she felt like continuing. "Na koi tameez na koi akal! Dekho sab dekho, aa gaya ullu ka bichra hua bhaiii."
Few of the students started chuckling while Sanskaar turned around, moving closer to the door.
"Naam hai uska. . ." She stops as she doesn't know his name.
"Sanskaar!" The crowd shout and Swara curves a small victory grin. "Sanskaar . . ." She trials off while singing.
Sanskaar looks at the other students in disbelief.
"Hoo hoo aaaah aaaa. Lalalala laaa lalaaa. Flirting aise karta hai jaise koi shaks marte marte aakhiri khwahish batata hai. Chalta toh aise hai jaise yeh college na uska ghar ho. Lekin usko, kya pataaa, yaha hum bhi hai ho lalalaaa. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? Koi nahi koi nahi koi nahiiiii. Toh humpe haq na jamaa paaogee, sun lo ullu ke bhaiiii. Bara akru ho tum, bare despo bhi ho. Sochte ho you're the best when you're not." She sings, enjoying this and making the other students, including Sheesh enjoy and chuckle.
Sanskaar angrily pushes the door open, glaring at her and her eyes move on him.
"Humse aaya bara lene panga. Usko kya kahabar hum khud hi hai dandaa." She continues and then stops due to a sudden chuckle in between with the word 'Danda'.
Her laugh started to echo and spread with the help of the microphone, even people from distance could hear.
"What the hell is your problem?" He angrily remarked and she pressed her lips together, trying to control her laughter.
This was the first time she laughed like that in front of everyone.
"You mean your problem? Well I don't know, it's your problem so why are you asking me?" She answers back, making him more angry and frustrated.
"Oh come on. Just admit you're jealous of me and insecure that I give attention to other girls and not you."
Swara starts to laugh. "Jealous and of you?" She asks, in between her laughs. "Wouldn't I rather be jealous of a dog who has green eyes?" She adds, indirectly insulting him and continuee to laugh.
Her laugh annoyed Sanskaar and he held her by the arm, pulling her away from the microphone. She stared at his hand which was gripping her arm and then at him, who was dragging her to the side. Her laugh had stopped due to the sudden pull of his.
She jerks his hand away and he turns his head towards her, facing her. "Don't touch me okay! Stay in your limits!" She warned, now allowing her mood to turn serious.
"And what you did? I was leaving quietly but no, you decided to sing a song to insult me. What did you get in return? A small applaud? Attention of so many people?"
She was about to retort but he doesn't allow her to speak.
"Congratulations, look how many people you pulled. Happy and satisfied with the attention you strived for or you're still hungry for more?"
She was totally sickened by his words, not believing how low his mentality is along with his attitude and personality.
"For your information, I'm a singer so it's obvious people would come to hear me and I didn't pull anyone here, they have legs and they walked by themselves! Including you, you could've walked away so why did you come?" She lashes out at him, crossing her arms across her chest to hear his answer to her question. "And if you suffered from a short term memory loss then let me remind you, you're the one who started it, I was peacefully singing but you decided to show up and it was so important for you to comment, wasn't it? So don't you dare have that audacity to blame me when you're the one who asked for it!" Swara adds and storms off angrily, leaving Sanskaar, angry, frustrated and shocked.
The small teasing had now led to a serious fight between the two, one was fire while the other was ice. Two elements poles apart, how would they ever figure out their destiny is connected with each other?
***
It was a while, Sahil, Sanskaar and Sheesh were sat on the tables, attending their class and taking interest in the lesson.
"What's the plan?" Sahil whispers while taking notes.
"I'll tell you afterwards." Sanskaar whispers back.
The bell rang and the students sighed a relief, finally having a break from a boring lecture. They started to pack their bags to hurry and get out of class.
"Mission is to get Kavita against her, if Kavita, herself distances Swara then it'll make it easy for me to win her." Sanskaar reveals, confusing Sahil.
"But why and how will Kavita do that?" Sahil asks, knowing Kavita and Swara are friends.
"Because she will think Swara is jealous of her and how, I don't know." Sanskaar replies, smirking at his plan while Sheesh looks at Sahil.
"Swara is his family's rival's daughter." Sheesh says, surprising Sahil.
"Seriously?" Sheesh shakes his head and Sanskaar uninterestedly looks away.
"He caught the tradition." Sahil adds, curving a teasing smile.
"Plan. Is what we are meant to focus on." Sanskaar says, in order to divert the topic.
"Hmmm, plan." Sheesh and Sahil say at the same time.

It was end of college and Swara was walking towards the exit. While she was walking out, she sees Sanskaar, Sheesh and Sahil heading out from the class.
"Swara!" She hears her name and turns, looking at Kavita rushing towards her. "Come to mine, we will go straight from there."
"But Kavita, I don't have my clothes. . ."
"I'll pick and choose for you, you can wear something from my closet." Swara's eyes widen as she stares at Kavita.
"Your closet?" Kavita nods and Swara shakes her head "No ways. I can't wear anything from your closet."
"Why not?"
"Because. . ." Swara stops, realising what she was about to say.
"Because?"
"Your clothes are too girly for my preference." She adds, telling a partial truth as the first reason she was going to give was that 'they're short.'
"Swara, we're going to a party. Not a amusement park. It's obvious for your dress to be something glittery and girly for a party."
"Why? What's wrong with these clothes?"
Kavita looks at Swara from head and toe while Swara waited for an answer.
"They're. . ." She trials off, thinking of saying something which wouldn't offend her. "Not party material. There would be loads of people there and I don't want anyone commenting about you." She utters a partial truth, the other half of the truth was that those clothes were 'awful' for the party.
"But."
"Please Swara." Kavita requests, holding Swara's hand while pleading.
"Okay fine." Swara sighs, giving up and Kavita smiles.
"You're the best." Kavita comments and shares a hug with her.
Sanskaar, Sheesh and Sahil were staring at the two. "How can she hug that jungly?" Sheesh asks, referring to Kavita and Swara.
"I can't wait to hear those bad comments regarding her dressing in the party." Sanskaar says with a small smirk.
"What? Thorn is coming to the party?" Sahil shockingly asks.
"Yeah." Sheesh responds.
"Oh gosh, she's gunna cause a drama and scene there too. Uff, god bless the boys." Sahil says, making Sheesh and Sanskaar chuckle.
Kavita breaks the hug and starts walking towards the gate while holding Swara's wrist, on the way, her eyes meet with Sanskaar and Sanskaar smiles at Kavita but Kavita ignores him. Seeing Kavita ignore Sanskaar, Swara turns around and sticks her tongue out at Sanskaar.
Sanskaar rolls his eyes upon seeing her, showing her he's not interested at all.
To Be Continued. . .
