Sujatha Ramprasad Maheshwari looked at her new bahu's and she breathed a sigh of relief that comes with the knowledge ,her sons will have someone to look after them and stand by them . When she met Ram ,she didn't think it was possible to love someone as much as she did her husband that they defied his parents wish and got married which resulted in Sujatha having quite an unhappy life with her in laws .

And the only thing that made her stay in this house possible had been her sister in law Akanksha Maheshawari . They were too different from each other ,sujatha wasn't his parents choice but Akanksha was handpicked by her in laws to marry their eldest son Varun Maheshwari ,the only person who has any power to sway his parents decision .

Varun and Akanksha made it possible for them to coexist in the same house ,until Sanskar was born . Sujatha had let go of every set down by her mother in law for her husband and then she became a mother of her own and it changed everything ,Laksh may haven't been perfect but he was her son and she refused to see him grew up in a family where he was looked down on .

So when Laksh was three and Sanskar was five ,she left this house with her son . Sujatha couldn't ask her husband to leave his house for her ,so she walked out on her own choosing her son over her husband , she still remembers the anguish she had seen in her husband when he knew it was time for him to choose between his parents and them .

Ram choose her and his son ,they moved away from this house and lived quite contently on small house few miles away , Ram continued to work in the Maheshwari industries because of his brother who wouldn't have it any other way . It took more than few years for Ram parents to even talk to him when he visits and by the time they died they have at least accepted Laksh and Ram back even if she remained the outcast .

Laksh may have gained a part of his grandparents affection but he was still judged and found lacking then Sanskar , it was the reason they never moved back into the Maheshwari house afterwards even when her sister in law insisted on it . And sujatha had found peace with her life until the tragic accident that took away Sanskar parents .

Sujatha didn't cherish the memories in this house and was reluctant to move back here permanently but this house holds the memories of their parents for Sanskar and Uttara that she agreed to move back into the house . Sujatha had liked being an aunt who spoiled Sanskar and Uttara whenever she visited them or vice versa .

   And she knew that it was no longer possible ,because she was no longer just an aunt to them but the next mother figure in their life . It had been easy for Uttara to accept the change of dynamics and in truth Sujatha loved her like daughter even before the accident, so it hasn't been hard for her either . She always wanted a daughter but Sanskar was different . 

  Sanskar had been 18 and in the first year of his college life when his parents died ,he wasn't a kid or an adult which made him harder to deal with , awhile Uttara was 6 years younger than him and needed an mother figure in her life.

  Fortunately Ram gained more acceptance from Sanskar ,not only did her husband who had no real interest to take over the Maheshwari industries found himself as the acting CEO until Sanskar could step up. He also became the head of the household and for the next few years he did his best to the point of exhausting himself that no one had been prepared for his death that resulted from a heart attack . 

  Sujatha was crushed by the loss of her husband ,Laksh was shaken by the suddenness of his father death, Uttara was distraught enough that she jumped on a plane to be far away from those memories  but it had been Sanskar who had to step up this time around and he did a good job of it that sujatha though the elder felt she had been relaying on him until his PA told her that he was overworking himself as well . 

  Sujatha was a mother first and she didn't care if they lost their wealth or the company ,they weren't more important than Sanskar health that she didn't think twice before pushing him to marry ,she had hoped a wife would keep him in check unlike her who failed to realize the extent of her husband exhaustion .

  And though a part of her wanted him to find someone he loved like Laksh. She agreed for an alliance between Sanskar and kavitha because she hoped they could grew to love each other just like his parents . Because she believed Sanskar was more like his father ,and he would make their marriage work . 

          
So even though Sujatha knew Swara wasn't the choice of Sanskar ,she believed he would make an honest effort to get to know her ,because if there was one thing about Sanskar that he always put his family first and so she wasn't worried about their marriage and felt relieved to know there was someone to look after her sons .

Annapurna DurgaPrasad was frustrated with her daughter ,she just got a call from her which indicated she was already in trouble with her in laws.  Ragini was a sweet child who never crossed her word , until she fell in love with Laksh and Annapurna realized her daughter was done being obedient and was trying to rebel in her own way .

When her daughter first told them about her boyfriend  ,they mistakenly assumed it to be Sanskar as she said he was an Maheshwari  and called him lucky and they hoped it was his nickname and it was the reason her husband had been happy to accept the alliance  until they realized it wasnt Sanskar ,  by the time it was too late and her daughter was in love. 

Annapurna didn't like Laksh much , she knew he wouldn't be like her husband who held everyone respect ,it was one of the reason Annapurna agreed to marry him . She craved respect from the society, born in an poor family all she aspired was to marry into a rich family and she did everything in her power to hold on to the respect she earned by being the wife of Durga Prasad . 

She respected her husband and he accepted her as his wife so that his sister could have someone to look after her , it didn't matter that Annapurna was just five years older than Sharmistha . Her husband expected her to be more like a mother to his sister and she did her best but she grew to resent his sister when she realized no matter what Annapurna did she will never be more important to him than his sister .

  The fact they didn't have a child made her grew more angry until his darling sister fell in love and married Shekhar ,Annapurna knew her husband was disappointed with her choice but he never said no to his sister and so they got married which relieved Annapurna until Sharmistha got pregnant with Pari , this time her jealousy grew to a point where she hated his sister and her family .
          
       

 Then Sharmistha got pregnant again with Swara which would have destroyed Annapurna completely if not for her pregnancy ,it came as a pleasant surprise to everyone and Annapurna felt relieved when she held Ragini in her arms the first time ,she thought now that her husband has a daughter he will stop cherishing his nieces more and she was mistaken because to her husband  Pari and Swara came first ,just like Sharmistha.  

Unlike Sharmistha who was never aware of how much she is still interfering in her life. Her daughter knew Annapurna hatred towards them, it was what she was banking on when she asked Swara to marry Sanskar ,she knew Swara will never agree to anything Annapurna suggested and living all this years with her husband she knew it was what he would suggest and if it came from her husband then Swara would have agreed , so Annapurna spoke up first .

 Annapurna had hoped that when the marriage gets postponed she could assign the blame towards Swara reluctance to marry Sanskar and try to protect her daughter but her plan backfired when Sanskar agreed to the marriage ,she didn't expect him to agree and she felt defeated to realize Swara and Ragini will be related by marriage as well

 Now her daughter called to let her know how everyone praised Swara dish over hers and how Sanskar who never had kheer tried it for the sake of his wife and Annapurna felt furious . She hated that Swara married Sanskar ,she hated that her daughter married Laksh who will always be under his cousin thumb and she hated that yet again their lives were intertwined .

 Sharmistha Bose looked at her eldest daughter holding her son and felt the happiness that comes from the knowledge of being an grandmother yet her mind was preoccupied with her youngest . Pari kept asking about when will Swara return ,the sisters have been so close with each other that Sharmistha can't explain Swara absence in the hospital anymore than she can explain Swara marriage  .

 " Mom , call Swara .You told me she went home to freshen up but it almost noon and she hasn't still arrived " Pari asked her mother while holding her new born .

  " She must have slept Pari ,you know she was here the whole night " Sharmistha struggled to lie but she didn't want to stress Pari with the truth yet .

" Adharsh had been here since last night and it isn't like Swara ,call her so I can at least talk with her " Pari answered back increasingly worried about her sister as the hour grew long .

" I just talked with her ,she will come in the evening " Sharmistha lied yet again but this time the lie fell flat because Pari knew she hasn't left the room for a long time .

" Don't tell me ,you sent her to be with Ragini . I know how much you love to let Swara tag along with Ragini but she is married now that means I get my sister back " Pari joked and yet it was so close to the truth that Sharmistha couldn't hide the shock in her face. 

 Sharmistha wanted her daughters to get along with Ragini ,since she is a single child and she knew that her daughter don't like her sister in law who may come across as strict but to Sharmistha she was more like an mother . Over the years her daughter's resented Sharmistha demands when it comes to Ragini .

  Pari being the eldest was able to not succumb to being Ragini shadow unlike Swara ,Sharmistha gave into every demands from her brother that she stripped away all of Swara choices , Swara went to the same school as Ragini ,went to the same extra curricular activities as Ragini , went to the same college as Ragini .

  The first few times her husband stood for his daughter but he couldn't stand up against her brother because he worked for him , that was how Sharmistha met him and fell in love with him . Her brother retained his boss and her husband lost his voice because when it came to confrontations he didn't know if he was speaking against his brother in law or his boss .

In the initial years of their marriage, he asked if he should find an another job but Sharmistha who didn't want to upset her brother talked him out his decision just like the countless time she talked her daughter out of their decisions. Until Swara refused to work in her brother firm ,she wanted to start a dance school it had always been her ambition and she went against her brother wishes which caused a rift between them .

Sharmistha didn't want yet another rift between her families , if Ragini marriages halted because of Swara decision she worried that it will permanently divide her families . In hindsight she knew it wasn't fair to Swara and as an mother she failed yet again ,and her guilt made her numb that she couldnt even look at Pari . 

 " Mom ,look someone sent picture of Ragini wedding " Pari voice made her look up to her daughter and see the exact moment she stumbled upon her sister wedding picture and when she turned to look at her for explanation she knew Pari will never be able to forgive her .

 And just as she expected once she heard everything her daughter called her husband who had been waiting outside and one look at his wife tear strained face he knew something was wrong.

" Pari is something wrong ,does it hurt anywhere " her son in law asked her daughter but she only shook her head in answer and continued to cry in his shoulders . Until she finally turned to look at her .

" We always accepted you choices mom because we knew uncle practically raised you and you don't want anything to disturb your relationship with his family but this time you crossed a line , Swara is my sister and it time someone put her choices first. You decided to gamble with your daughter life but I can't let you do it . I won't let her stay in that forced marriage not if I can help it " Pari answered back leaving Sharmistha shocked .
