Two Months Later

Swara doesn't get mad at her husband but tonight she was mad at him and upset with him, she had asked him to come home early and in her husband world it was 8 PM and yet the clock showed the time was 12 AM now and there was still no sign of him.  Except the message at 8:15 telling her ,he was likely to be late.

               
If it had been any other day she would simply resigned to the fact she married an workholic and would have gone to bed but not today. Not after all the preparation she carefully planned.

Swara felt like crying as she glanced yet again at the door willing to see him,  She knew Sanskar was busy and he has told her all about the project that is keeping him busy . But she hoped today he will choose to be with her. After all she really stressed how much she wanted him to come early.

Swara had spent almost a week preparing for this moment  and now it of no use. She knew he will get busy and there will come a day when time between them would become a constraint, but she didn't expect just how much of time will be lost with just barely a glimpse of him in the night and morning .

He even worked during the weekends and that made it impossible for her to spend some quality time with him. And she never blamed it on him, she had started to work as well and she had Ragini and Sujatha aunty to keep her occupied ,plus with visits to her sister and nephew and her parents all kept her too busy as well but yet a part of her missed him more than possible .

Swara and her mother were on a slow path of reconciliation and she was content with their new changed dynamics and it was also the reason,  Her parents had left for a short trip last week, it was her mother way of building her relationship with her husband and Sanskar came with her to the airport to send them off but immediately rushed off to a meeting .

Swara didn't want to be the wife who complains about everything but she can't help the disappointment today.

The last two months  made Swara realize one thing, how her world seem to revolve around Sanskar. She kept thinking about him all the time. Sanskar only came back home after midnight most days and he would be too tired that Swara will pretend to sleep even though she would have been waiting for him so that he will get some sleep as well.

Because Swara knew in spite of how tired he was , Sanskar will still try to make sure to spend some time with Swara as he promised, he did that the first few weeks and while Swara was happy to spend some time with him, She knew how much Sanskar is getting sleep deprived, so she opted to let him sleep and hence started to pretend to be sleeping when he come home late.
 
And on one such night did Swara discover something that changed her life upside down. It was five days ago . And as usual Swara waited the whole night for Sanskar to come home and it was around 2 PM when she finally heard the door slightly getting opened, so as not to wake her up.

Swara as always pretended to be asleep. Sanskar was too tired that within ten minutes he got changed and was in bed. Swara was almost half asleep by then, and so she was surprised when she heard the small yet steady voice of her husband uttering those magical words

" I really miss spending time with you Swara" Sanskar whispered to her sleeping self and it was the words that led to her realization

               
 There was this deep happiness within Swara to know she was being missed. She missed him terribly and she knew that but to know he missed her in spite of being so busy made her so happy. And that when she realized that she is deeply madly in love with him.

And it was the reason for her sadness when she couldn't get to spend time with, Swara was sad to know Sanskar was not spending any time with her, she was worried as time pass by he will grow apart from her in spite of living together.

While she talked about it with  Ragini who was pregnant and not so in favor of her husband who kept leaving for work , she joined swara in her lament as they both lamented on how inconsiderate their husbands are to their wife, and they both bonded over the mutual agreement that Sanskar and Laksh needs to work less time and were already in favor of making the office working hours into three days instead of five.

" We are being generous , they can work for three days and spend four days with us, " Ragini said as she cradled her slight  bump as if willing her unborn child to bring her husband home

" Exactly Ragini , do you know Sanskar even works on weekends, next time I am not going to wake him up in the morning and keep him home for the weekend,  " Swara spoke up as they both kept planning how to ensure their husbands stays by their side.

It had been Sujatha aunty who was on her sons side and explained to them about how her son misses their wife's as well and they will be home often once the projects ends which soothed Ragini worry somewhere but Swara didn't know if Sanskar misses her as much as she missed him

So those words that conveyed to her that her husband misses her seems be the one thing she needed to realize how happy she was to know she wasn't alone in missing him ,  which lead her to realize she never want to spend a life with out him as she is deeply in love with him.   

She just wanted to wake him up back then and tell him that night but then decided to  wait till he wakes up. But sleeping late had it side effects and that why she was still asleep when he left for work the next day .

So her attempts to convey her love was delayed. She had already decided to tell him when he returned home . But her plans got changed when she found out Sanskar Birthday is coming up in five days.

And it was how Swara hatched a new plan as she decided to surprise him on his birthday. Keeping it a secret was hard for her but she did .She kept planning and planning the next five  days to make this one a special day.
                                                                 
               
And the day has finally arrived, the clock hit twelve and Swara broke down crying as all her plan failed. She got the msg that he will be delayed at 8 .15 but she hoped he will make it home before twelve. She wanted to be the first person to wish him exactly at twelve. She planned to take him out for dinner ,she has already made the reservation and then ask him to take her on a long drive and wish him exactly at twelve and already made plan with Ragini and Sujatha aunty to decorate the house while they were gone.

So that when they both come back from the drive he will be welcomed by a surprise birthday party. And after all the celebration she want to confess her love for him as his birthday gift when they finally get some time alone. Then spend the rest of the day with him as she carefully planned every minute of that day. But all those carefully laid plans seemed to be out of the window and Swara ended up exhausted by her wait and broke down. 

Swara didn't realize she slept on the couch while still wearing the dress she carefully picked to wear on her date with her husband just like their honeymoon trip . It was 5 A.M and she woke up hoping to see her husband in the bed at least.

But he was nowhere to be found it looked like he didn't come home the whole night and now panic began to set in. She started calling him and all her calls went unanswered. She rushed to Ragini and found out Lakshya didn't come home last night either. Now both cousins were full on panic mode.

But Ragini breathed a sign of relief when she spotted Lakshya entering the house and alas the relief was not meant for Swara, she learned that in order to finish the project Sanskar had to take a work trip to Malaysia.

The important person who was supposed to come to India to finalize the deal ,suddenly asked Sanskar to travel to Malaysia instead.

It was big deal so Sanskar left on the early morning flight. Lakshya just came back from Airport after sending him off.  Swara was shattered to  know she cant even wish him in person . She sat silently for the next one hour not knowing what else she can do then she decided what she need to do.

At  first her plan seemed  stupid but she doesn't care, not even when the whole family tried to talk her out of it. So they finally reluctantly agreed to it. Soon Lakshya had to go to airport again this time to send off Swara. He knew if anything happened to Swara, Sanskar would kill him as Lucky knew how much deeply his brother is in love with his wife but Swara was adamant in her decision and he had no choice when his wife thought it was romantic and even his mom agreed to it.

Sanskar Maheshwari was exhausted and tired, he was jet lagged but more than that he was sad to have broken yet another promise to Swara. He didn't expect the last minute complication last night that made him stay back at work much to Swara anger .

When he first took up the project right after he came back home from his trip. Never did he think it will be this time consuming, at the time he want to be immersed in work but not now.

There saying be careful what you wish for and Sanskar Maheshwari wished for the wrong thing. He thought his heart will get steady when he didn't see Swara but he was so wrong. When he was away from her the torture was more than when he was with her.  

He Missed her so much and he knew she felt the same. He even started to believe that she was in love with him as well. But he was so busy in work that he never even had time to tell her how he felt or ask how she feels about him.

Today is the last day in this project and Sanskar was so happy that he didn't mind spending extra few hours to get it done. He knows after it is over, he will have all the time in the world to be with his wife. Though he has promised that he will be back home early today. He decided that she will understand and so he texted her about the delay and immersed himself in work

               
Until his plans derailed and he was on the flight to Malaysia, he couldn't ask Laksh to go when he had a pregnant wife waiting for him but he knew Swara would be disappointed as well , it was why he tried to call Swara once he landed and she didn't pick up, he had sent her message last night but he wanted to hear her voice even if it was to scold him.

Then he called Lucky who told him Swara was angry with him for leaving without telling her so she wont talk to him till he come back. He gently asked Lucky to convey his apology and let her know that he will come back as soon as the deal is signed.

It was around 11:40 PM when Sanskar finally made his way back to his hotel room Lucky had booked for him.  The deal was finally signed and he can't wait to catch early flight back home tomorrow , back to his wife who was angry with him at the moment .

           
 He was  too tired that when he opened the door, he thought he was hallucinating Swara. As she greeted him with a huge smile of hers. It took him a few seconds to take in this is real.

His eyes soon spotted the decorations and Cake which had inscribed Happy Birthday Sanskar . And then just to reassure him this is not hallucination his wife started to sing happy birthday in her sweet voice and that broke all his resistance, she travelled all the way here just to wish him and at that moment Sanskar didn't care about anything except letting her know how much he loves her.

He gently walked towards her , held her face in his strong and firm hands , gave her an smile that let her know how happy he is too see her and placed a small kiss on her forehead that seems to both surprise her and make her happy.

Then Swara finally looked at the time, which showed it was around 11 : 50 .It now or never .

"Happy Birthday Sanskar. I wanted to be the first one to wish you and spend the whole day with you ,yet i will settle for just wishing you on your birthday. " Swara spoke up,  making him feel so happy by the extent she went for his birthday

" I Love You Swara, i don't think i can keep it a secret anymore . I really hope you do too  or else you wont like what i am about to do next " Sanskar spoke up , as he leaned into to kiss her not on the forehead this time and fully expected her to push him away .

His lips stayed on her soft ones for a few minutes before he realized she wasn't pushing him away , he didn't know whether it was out of shock or acceptance ,so he took a few steps back 

 Sanskar's decision was  based on impulse and he might regret it if Swara didn't feel the same. But this time Swara took one step closer as she didn't like him with drawing back and that all he needed too know. He didn't have to hear those magical words , he cant see it in her eyes. She loves him too.

He again closed the gap between them. He leaned forward and gently kissed her again while both were lost in the moment of passion.

Swara couldn't believe what she heard. She was over the moon , she wanted to scream i love you Sanskar as well but before she found the courage to open her mouth ,she found his lips on hers  again and stayed there for more  than a minute.

Swara was lost in the moment but she was still aware of that she has intended to tell those magical words on his birthday and it was just less than one minute left. She  gently stepped back from the kiss and tried hard to regain her balance after the magical moment ,smiled at her husband who was looking at her with such love that it gave her all the courage she needed to speak her heart out.

" I had prepared a long speech to say but now i have got just one minute left before this day ends .So i just get to thing that matters the most. I Love You Sanskar. " Swara spoke up looking at him and was so gappy to see the smile on his face

" I Love you too Swara"he answered back making her realize the truth in his words .

           
The day was not what she planned it out to be, she met him in the last twenty minutes of his birthday. But the last twenty minutes was more than enough because it solidified  that she will spend the rest of her life with him.
