■ The deal

Today was just a regular day for me. I came, did my work without uttering a word. Jared had some important meetings, so he was really busy throughout the day. I met him only once while giving his coffee after his first meeting and didn't meet him even after lunch. He was completely serious today with no smiles or laughs. I knew he was a bit freaked out on the inside as Mr. Schoff would finalise the deal tonight. This deal would not only give a wonderful partnership but also the net worth and status of Grey companies would elevate.

Not to mention Jared had enough money to last his next five generations, it would now last him eight more generations. I couldn't even dream about that kind of money. I was already thankful I had a great apartment with enough money to provide my rent and pay for electricity and food.

As the day got over, it was time for me to go. But I decided to wish him one last time before leaving. Also, because I wanted to see him. I had barely seen him today, let alone speak. I missed him.
He was too stressed to even flirt today, so I left him alone to finish his job without interfering. I hoped Schoff finalised the deal.

I placed my card against the sensor as it turned green and the door opened. I strode in confidently.

"Sir-Jared, this is the file," I said, handing it to him.

"Oh okay, thanks Alli. Keep it on the table, will you?" He said absentmindedly, working on his laptop, not looking up.

He called me Alli again. I loved it when he called me Alli. It made me go all gooey and fuzzy on the inside. It felt more intimate and personal. He had switched to Alli from Ms. Marshall and only called me by my surname when we were in presence of others.

"And good luck for today," I said before turning to go back.

He finally grinned, looking up, "Thanks. I wish you could be there with me. Helps me calm down, you know."

I love how honest he was being currently. I hoped he remained this way.

"No, I am serious. Since the day you started working here, not only there has been a huge positive turn in business but in...other spheres of life too. You are my lucky charm afterall, I guess," He smiled goofily, wiping the sweat off his forehead even though the air conditioner was at full blast.

"Thanks," I blushed, "You continue. I won't disturb you any further."

"You are leaving already?"

"Yes. Its almost 9:00. When are you leaving?" I asked.

"I am gonna stay here for another hour and finish with these presentation. I will call my driver and tell him to drop you," He said, picking up his phone.

"Oh no, I will take a cab. Don't have to-"

"Its an order, Alli," He raised an eyebrow, "I am still your boss."

At the end of the day, he was still a charming bastard.

Wade returned early from his photoshoot today because he had broken his arm. He said he was hit by a running car but of course I didn't believe him. He was thunderstruck to hear our relationship had advanced so much in these days.

To be honest, since last few days, we all have been too busy. Wade had recently got an assignment and he was really focusing on it, which was very unlike Wade. I felt happy he was taking his work seriously and not just depending on his parents' money. He left early in the morning and came late at night. So, nowadays, I made him breakfast daily and we ordered takeouts half of the days due to us being tired almost everyday to cook dinner.

So coming back to Wade, he had been angry at me for not telling him anything that happened post pancakes incident. I convinced and pleaded to him. Finally, he gave in when I mentioned cheese pizza. Yup, we both loved it.

"But remember, its only because you gave me pizza," He said as we sat and watched Star Wars, late at night and tired after the day's work. I loved Han Solo.

"Hmm. I am sorry again, Wadey," I pouted and he scowled. He hated when I called him that.

"So you and him alone in London? Nice," He smirked slyly.

"Shut up. Its just a business trip," I muttered, hitting his arm.

"Yeah? Don't do your other businesses there," He teased, "You are too young to be a mother."

"If you don't want me to throw this pizza away, then shut up."

"You wouldn't. You are a sucker for pizza, babes and we both know that," He pointed out.

Unfortunately, he was true.

By the time the film was over, Wade was snoring, so I didn't bother waking him up. I cleaned everything and crashed on my bed.

I had to pack but I felt too tired. I had the entire morning to myself for packing. Wade had the day off tomorrow too, so he could help me. We could also finally make breakfast together because frankly, it was kind of boring to make breakfast everyday for both of us. Plus, Wade didn't just like to have cereals. He wanted different breakfasts everyday. I usually didn't bother and only provided him with cereals but I had forgotten to buy the new packets and so there was dearth of cornflakes and muesli now.

I wonder how Jared was doing. He must be doing okay. I thought of calling him but then decided I could ask him tomorrow itself. He was going to pick me up during afternoon. I could ask him then. He was probably still at their place, having dinner but it was already too late and we had a flight tomorrow so he must have left by now. He needed to get a good night's sleep. However, I don't think Jared survived on too much sleep. He always arrived before me and left after me.

Man, how did he do it? I would never want to be a CEO after watching his schedule. He barely had breaks and time to himself. No matter how much money I earned, I wanted my peaceful sleep. Currently, I was satisfied with my work pay too so I didn't dream of taking over such a huge company by myself. It wasn't as huge as Microsoft, Apple or Amazon but it was huge nevertheless and it was still growing.

I was happy I was going to London. I never went to that place before and Jared having spent his college years there, would take me to all places he knew, he had promised. I was feeling like a kid inside. I was bubbling with joy.

London, I hoped you surprise me.
