■ Grumpy journey
"You ready?" Wade poked his head in as I closed my suitcase with a loud snap.
"Yup. Ready to go," I said, getting up and blowing the hair out of my face as he came in, "Phew, packing is not my forté at all."
"When is your Romeo coming?" He asked, lying on my bed and playing with a ball, hitting it on the wall again as it came bouncing back in his hand.
"He is not my Romeo. He should be here in five minutes," I rolled my eyes.
"You know, I don't understand a thing. You like him, he likes you. Why do you keep on denying? Doesn't it get boring after some time?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
I sighed but gave a smile, "Its a reflex action. I had been denying it so long, that it comes out of my mouth even before I can think. Plus, we are not official yet. If we ever are, you will get to know it, I promise," I said.
"Not if. When," He corrected.
"There is still a risk involved if I am with him, Wade. Personal feelings aside, he is the head of this huge company who has experience in handling media and rumors. I am only his assistant with hardly any experience with dealing with clients and people, let alone convincing them. I have never been in any newspaper or have any past cases of escaping papparazi. News will get published and-"
"If you start thinking about every little thing besides your happiness, you can kiss Romeo goodbye. You are putting too many conditions and rules to feelings, Alli. A relationship doesn't work like that. Let it flow it's natural course and you will be just fine," He remarked.
I kept quiet. He was right again, but there was still this nagging feeling inside me. It was easy to say in words, difficult to put it in practice.
"Love is not that. It comes without terms and conditions. You just do it. If you start thinking too much, pack your bags and say goodbye to your lover," He snorted.
"I understand," I nodded, "You are right. I am thinking too much," I shook my head before smiling.
"What?"
"When did you become such a love guru?" I grinned.
"I have some knowledge, Alli. Someone special could have been there for me too," He shrugged.
I froze, "What?? Who is she?! Why haven't you told me? How long-"
"Its gone. It was there. Its gone. You don't know that girl. She was from work-" He got up, laughing as I clung his arm.
"But-"
"Why is he still not coming? You sure he hasn't ditched you?" He asked loudly, changing the topic.
I frowned at him. He didn't want to talk, it seemed. I wouldn't force him then. Anyway, Jared hadn't called me this morning. He just gave a text to be ready by 2:00. He didn't have a good night's sleep, I had a hunch.

"Bye," Wade kissed me goodbye as Adam, Jared's chaffeur, helped me in keeping the suitcase.
I bade Wade goodbye and got in expecting him to smile and grin.
And instantly knew something was wrong.
Jared stared out of the window with a full serious face. He didn't smile or tease me. Heck, he didn't even acknowledge me. Weird.
"Hi Jared," I said excitedly.
He turned and looked at me for few seconds before nodding, his eyes holding no emotion whatsoever. Oh dear, was he going back to his old mode again? These four months had been pure bliss. Was it time for me to wake up again?
No, the last four months had been true. He had changed. He wasn't going to become that sadist Jared again. We had shared some lovely moments and those were not a dream, Allison.
"You okay?" I asked cautiously.
He again nodded and looked outside, looking dramatically poetic as the city zoomed past us.
Something was definitely wrong. But I wouldn't push him. He could tell me whenever he wanted to. First Wade, now Jared. What had happened?
I just hope this time it wasn't my fault. Please God, we were doing alright till now, don't let anything else happen yet.
Of course, He didn't pay heed to my prayer.

We were sitting in Jared's private jet. He hadn't spoken a word during the ride. And I was seriously going crazy. He was seated in front of me. He wasn't looking at me or speaking a word. He just stared out of the window with a glum expression.
As the jet took off and we were well in the air, I gathered the courage and walked over to him and sat down next to him. He looked at me but didn't say anything.
"Wanna watch a movie?" I asked, smiling innocently.
He shook his head, "No."
Disappointed, I plugged in my earphones and started listening to music, not getting up.
The hostess served us our food sometime later. She stared at Jared for a few more seconds than necessary to which I stared at her and she walked off when she saw me give the blank stare. I watched her go and focused my attention on him again. I couldn't blame her though. Jared was by no means an average looking person. I would do the same if I were in her place.
I decided to have small talk, "The food is so tasty, isn't it?"
"Allison, its horrible," Jared scrunched his face,"Put a word in for me to Gordon."
Allison? Uh oh, trouble.
"Its delicious. Come on, let's watch a movie while we eat," I nudged his arm.
"Not in a mood," He said. He then asked the hostess to clear his plate off.
"Wanna hear a joke?" I asked lamely as he wiped his mouth and reclined his seat back.
"No, I want to sleep," He turned towards the window, closing his eyes.
Okay. This was too much.
"Fine," I finished my food and after a visit to the lavatory, I came back and sat down.
"Whats the matter? Whats wrong?" I asked finally.
"Nothing, I am totally fine," He said, eyes still closed.
"No. Something happened yesterday. It helps if you share, you know. Did I do something?" I asked.
"No, Allison. You didn't do anything. Now let me sleep," He groaned.
"You didn't get the deal?"
"Are you mad? Of course I got it," He said softly.
"Then why aren't you jumping in joy?" I asked.
"I am a twenty two years old future CEO. Not a ten years old kid," He said, opening one eye.
"Didn't look like it few days back," I scoffed.
"Please, Allison. Let me sleep," He sighed.
"Will you tell me whats wrong then?" I asked.
"Damn it, Allison. Why don't you get it? I want to be left alone right now. I came home late yesterday night so I am tired. Can't a man get his sleep in peace!?" He snapped.
I sat there, frowning deeply at him.
He sighed, "Look, I am sorry. I didn't want to say those words. Its just that I want to be left alone right now. Please Alli," He said, rubbing his face.
At least he called me Alli. That was a recovery sign.
"Its fine. I understand. But it would help if you would share the problem," I said again.
"You can't help me," He stated.
"Try me."
"Allison. Please. Leave. Me. Alone," He said firmly, "Its an order."
"Okay, okay," I sighed and went back to my seat, "I will see you later, your Highness."
Something was bothering him, but what? I was soon finding out, Grey and whatever was the deal, we were going to fix it together.
I didn't like the man I loved being all sad and grouchy, so I would find out what the hell was bothering him.
