Chapter 19: Gila

I didn't look what was inside that Poké Ball. A part of me feared that my mom had somehow manage to trap one of the major Unovan Legendaries. If she did, then this Pokémon needed to stay inside at all costs.

Then, I remembered. Just a few years ago, a strong Trainer traveled across Unova and caught herself a Zekrom, while a Trainer before her caught himself a Reshiram. They were strong Trainers if I remembered right from the news. There was just one problem. Neither of them seemed to have been around. For all we know, Team Miasma could have them and their legendaries captured. I wondered if there was anyone that would know their locations.

While that needed to be done, I had other things to complete first. Both Rudi and Rena ran up the stairs after me, but I tried running away to just clear my thoughts for a moment to process what was going on here. It wasn't the new set of news I was concerned about. Something else bothered me.

It's hard to avoid the two siblings when I nearly ran into both of their parents.

"Oh good!" Landon exclaimed. "Perfect timing. Another attack just came in."

My eyes widened by how calm he was about it. Three days ago Team Miasma attacked Driftviel City. How is it they were able to recover so quickly from that? It took me three days to heal from a poisonous attack, and even now, I still feel a bit sore.

"Don't worry dad," Rudi said, wrapping his arm around me, "Sylvia and I can handle it."

"Just be careful," Wendy warned, "I don't want either one of you getting hurt this time."

"Mom, don't worry about it," complained Rudi. "We'll be home before you can have breakfast ready."

Before I could say anything, Rudi pulled me away, bringing me to his room. I took a look around while Rudi ran into a door which must've been a small bathroom or something. Unlike the rooms I've even been in, Rudi made sure he felt right at home here. The walls were filled with posters of some rock bands, pictures of Pokémon, and other sort of posters that somewhat surprised me. The one that shocked me the most was the lone poster of the Pokémon League, with all the current Gym Leaders.

Everything seemed neat with the exception of some newspapers that scattered the floor. It shocked me that every newspaper I laid eyes on wasn't of him, nor was it about me. Instead, they were outdated, back to when our parents were about our age. I froze, looking at a few of them to see the fuzzy pictures.

I tore my gaze away from those newspapers and looked towards his bed. On it was my backpack that I didn't realize I was missing until now. I looked over at the door where Rudi was hiding in before going to my bag and opening it up.

Inside had my Swanna suit and some clothes that I didn't remember having before. I carefully took things out one at a time, thankful that he only packed pjs, t-shirts, and pants. Before, I had to use whatever clothing Wendy had from when she was a Trainer. Now, I could at least wear something of my own.

Though, I sill didn't like the thought that Rudi could've gone through my stuff back home.

"Why aren't you dressed?" Rudi asked.

I looked up, seeing him in his Braviary suit already.

"Cuz I'm not getting dressed knowing you could barge in any moment," I argued, grabbing my suit and going straight into the bathroom.

(-o-)

Swanna and Braviary flew us over towards Icirrus City. My arms wrapped around Swanna's neck as I looked down. There were windmills everywhere, making the place seem like a calm and serene place to live in. Problem was that there were no members of Team Miasma to be found. At least, they appeared to be not here at all.

I looked over to glance at Rudi, who placed his hand over his ear. Apparently, his sister made another adjustment to his suit: adding an earpiece, so he could get information from her. In return, he also had a microphone in his mask. To be completely honest, I was kind of jealous that I didn't get one because then maybe I could get some tips on what not to do when in battle. I always felt like I was making the wrong decision.

Especially in Driftviel City.

Rudi nodded his head, as he pointed his hand to his left. Apparently, we were going the wrong way, but I wasn't going to ask until I knew more about it. As we flew towards where Rudi wanted to go, my stomach started to tightened as we saw some clouds loom overhead. We were in for a big surprise.

That was when I saw it. It was a huge tower right in the middle of the water. There was a walk way that could give Trainers a way to walk into the tower; however, Team Miasma was holding everyone who wanted to visit the place. So much that a lot of Trainers decided just to leave while a few of them stood their ground, sending out some Pokémon to help put a stop to Team Miasma.

Those Trainers who stayed shouted their reasonings for why they weren't going to be stopped. Every one of their reasonings was because of the Unovan Superheroes.

"Want to help them out?" Rudi asked, noticing how I was staring down at the handful of Trainers.

"They can handle themselves," I told him, "Let's stop them from the inside."

Rudi nodded his head while we flew into the top story window. When we landed, I saw a member of Team Miasma I've never seen before. Her back was turned towards us as her blonde hair was swept up in a high ponytail. She was giving orders to the other members of Team Miasma, while an Arbok stayed by her side.

Beside me, I noticed Rudi shifting uncomfortably. From what it looks like, he knew this member of Team Miasma all too well. He didn't even have his Braviary attack right away like he usually did. Instead of standing around, I decided to take action.

"Stop what you're doing," I demanded, "It's over."

The girl turned her head towards us, smiling sweetly. She looked no older than Rudi or me, which was weird. Why would anyone join Team Miasma at such a young age? This girl didn't even look like a grunt, so how did she move up in the ranks? She turned around, and quickly flattened the sides of her purple skirt that she wore with a plain black tank top.

If it wasn't for the logo of Team Miasma, which looked like two snake looking Pokémon bearing it's fang, on her tank, I would've never guessed she was a member of Team Miasma. This girl looked too innocent.

"Well, well, well," the girl sang, "I finally get to meet the famous Swanna Girl. You're just in time to finally give up."

"Never," I hissed.

The girl looked over at Braviary Man. As she did her smile grew twice as big. I looked over at him to make sure he was alright, but I noticed a sudden change in him. When we got here, Braviary Man seemed to have been holding back for some odd reason, but now it looked like he was about ready to attack any moment. His hands were in fists while Braviary stood protectively in front of his Trainer.

Why the sudden change?

"Ah, so I see you're not working solo anymore," the girl observed, "Good for you. Makes things a lot easier for me."

"Stop it, Gila," Braviary Man finally snapped, "What do you want?"

"Oh, well that's really quite simple," Gila explained, "See, I know who you are, but I want to know who Swanna Girl is. After all, isn't it fair I know who stole your heart, Braviary Man?"

I looked over at Braviary Man who didn't falter one bit. Seeing how calm he was while looking like he wanted to attack Gila at any moment meant she was lying. She had to. Just why would she be—holy Pontya crap.

Gila was trying to stall us.

"Braviary Man," I said, "Go down and help the other's. I'll handle Gila."

"No—" Braviary Man protested.

"Yes," Gila agreed, "I think it's time we've had some girl time. At least she might be some sort of challenge."

I looked over towards Braviary Man and jerked my head. He looked like he was about ready to choke the young admin, but ran down the stairs instead, figuring out whatever Team Miasma was doing. The grunts of Team Miasma all returned to studying the ruins of this place, leaving Gila, the young admin, to me.

She took a couple of steps back while her arbok slithered in front of her. Swanna knew what was going to happen, and flapped her wings, so she could get better leverage. I wasn't sure how this battle would turn out, but if it was anything like the last battle, I knew I would have to let Swanna battle the whole thing out.

One mistake in going into the battle myself, then everything would be done for.

"Let's make a deal," Gila proposed, "If I win, and I will, you have to tell me your name. If you make it out of this battle, you get to leave."

"Sounds good to me," I told her, "Except, when I win, you tell me what you're up to."

Gila smiled. "I'm sure Rudi told you everything."

My eyes widened. How did she know who Braviary Man was?

With my moment of hesitation, Gila started the battle. Her Arbok leapt into the sky, baring his fangs for bite. I barely had time to process what was going on, but before the attack could land, I yelled a warning of caution to Swanna, who barely dodged the attack.

"Now, Hydro pump!" I yelled.

"Impossible! That Pokémon shouldn't know that move!" Gila whined, "Fine counter with thunder fang!"

I didn't know Swanna couldn't learn hydro pump, but either way, it served as a huge advantage for us. Swanna opened her mouth to shoot the attack, only Arbok swerved out of the way as his fangs widened with an electrical zap around it. Before I could blink, the opponent bit Swanna on the neck.

Being that thunder fang was an electric type move, Swanna was badly damaged by it. I scowled, thinking of a way to hit the opponent while always being knocked down.

"Why don't we wrap things up a bit," Gila announced.

That's it!

"Swanna, let yourself be tangled, I've got an idea," I warned my Pokémon.

She looked back at me like I was crazy. Yes, I guess I was because I was going out on a limb here. If this would work, it would be some sort of miracle, but more importantly, it would be a game changer in this battle

Arbok wrapped himself around Swanna's wings. This meant Swanna couldn't move her wings, especially since she stood there struggling to try and escape the Arbok's attack. I smiled.

"Remain calm," I instructed, waiting for her to stop wiggling. As she did, Arbok wrapped himself tightly around Swanna, even more so than before. I smiled. "Now, steel wing!"

I watched as Gila's eyes widened as she realized what happened. Arbok had no other choice but to face the attack, being hit right away. Swanna flung the serpent Pokémon from her wing before flying up into the air.

"Good, now use water pulse!" I yelled.

Swanna used the attack before Arbok could think about standing up. His Trainer tried yelling for him to dodge the attack, but it didn't happen.

Before the attack could hit, Gila returned her Pokémon. Apparently she didn't want to see the Pokémon being hit by the attack, making for one of the shortest battles I ever participated in.

Gila scowled as she look towards the nearest grunt. "Boss just called. It's not here. Everyone, head back to the next area. As for you," Gila sneered as she looked towards me, her face full of disgust. "This is far from over. Just know, your precious side-kick isn't as innocent as he seems."

I watched as they all ran down the stairs in defeat, ignoring her last comment as she was just trying to be in my head. At least they were all gone. Rudi and I could finally be making it back to his home and get some sleep. It wasn't until now, as I watched them all running away, that I realized how tired I was.

Fatigue would go away soon. Right now, we just needed to get back.

Author's Note:

If you haven't figured out, every five chapters, I switch the POV to give a sense as to what is going on elsewhere. With that being said, who's POV do you think will be written? I would love to tell you who s/he is, but I can't.

Would love to hear your predictions. Until next time. Take care!
