36: Moving On

"Ma name's YN, if ya gotta know." You placed your hand gently in his, unsure of what he wanted to do with it.

"What? They don't shake hands in the swamp lands?" He laughed at your limp wrist. "Well, I suppose I can be a gentlemen instead!"

He lifted your hand to his mouth, kissing your knuckles chastely.

You recoiled, surprised.

"Too much for you?" He laughed and smiled at you. "My apologies. How about I make up for it by paying for your lunch?"

Your stomach growled at the mention of food. Trying to save money, most of your meals were quite small and you hadn't even had breakfast yet. Wiggling your head side to side, you saw Malu smile.

"I'm not looking for anything serious, YN. I'm just trying to have some fun while I'm in town. What do you say?" He stood up and offered his elbow for you to take. "Want to have some fun with me?"

Your face turned a little bit pink, but his charm, your loneliness and the promise of food made you stand up and hook your arm around his.

Meanwhile, Zuko was scowling as he sat at a table in a smaller dining room. He, Mai, Azula and Ty Lee were "enjoying" a lunch together. Azula and Ty Lee were having some sort of conversation about different fighting techniques while Mai was sighing and popping small fruits into her mouth.

"What's with your attitude?" Mai asked in her bored kind of way. Caught slightly off-guard, he covered for himself. He had actually been thinking about the day that you left, but there was no way he could say that.

"Don't you feel like we should be doing something?" He whined to his girlfriend.

"But we are doing something, Zuzu. We're sitting here and eating lunch, staying out of Father's way." Azula teased him.

"Don't call me that!" He shouted as he slammed his hands on the table, sending flames out.

"Watch your flames!" Mai scoffed back at him. "What's your damage?"

"I just don't want to sit in here doing nothing when so much is going on." His anger was getting the best of him.

"Then don't sit here. Sit somewhere else. You're disturbing the peace." Azula mocked him enough for Zuko to storm off back to his room.

Slamming the door behind him, he didn't stop at his own bed, instead walking into the bedroom that was yours and flopped down on the bed.

Screaming into the pillow he released the frustrations that came so easily these days. When he didn't have anymore air in his lungs, he flopped his head to the side and inhaled deeply. If he thought about it and sniffed hard enough, he could still smell you. You smelled like outside-- fresh air, sunshine and grass.

His eyes watered and he blamed the fact that his eyes were smashed into the bed. But it was the sneaky thing known as "feelings" that were causing the water to accumulate in his eyes.

"I wanted you both..." He mumbled as he grasped the sheets between his fingers. "I wanted you..."
