19: Unfortunate Turn of Events
"I'm excited to go to the palace! I can't believe we were invited by the Earth King himself!" Iroh cheered as you all rode up to serve tea at the palace.
"I don't know Uncle. It seems... suspicious." Zuko looked over to you to gauge your reaction.
You were sleeping. Typical. Ever since you had been intimate with Zuko, he had kept you up any time he could get away with it. This meant you were exhausted during the day.
"Ever since you went swimming together, YN has been so unnaturally tired. I wonder if she has caught a sickness." Iroh postulated.
"N-No, Uncle! I think she just hasn't gotten a lot of sleep. There has been a lot of business at the tea shop lately." Zuko tried to cover up his shenanigans.
When your group arrived at the palace, Zuko pushed you off of the train seat, violently waking you up.
"Hey!" You yelled out as you rubbed your head.
"We're here." Zuko smiled at you as you raced after him.
"You two need to behave. We are in the Earth Kingdom Palace. Please, be on your best behavior while we wait."
And wait you all did. Iroh and Zuko were starting to get jumpy when finally some guards showed up.
This isn't going to go well. You thought to yourself.
"Well, well, well if it isn't Zuzu and old Uncle Iroh." Azula appeared and you groaned. This crazy girl again. She's what? Fourteen? Why's she like this?
"Don't call me that!" Zuko shouted as he got into a defensive position. You glanced over to Iroh who was still sipping his tea.
"Azula. Do you know how I earned my nickname 'Dragon of the West'?"
"Uncle, I don't have time for such lengthy anecdotes."
Suddenly the room was hot. Flaming hot. As you ducked and looked back at Iroh, you saw he was literally breathing fire.
I'm out. You quickly attempted to flee the scene as Iroh and Zuko tried to fight their way out.
"Zuko, YN, come with me! Hurry!" Iroh shouted as he created an exit.
"Comin'!" You called out as you jumped.
"No. I'm going to stay and fight her! I'm going to challenge her to an Agni Kai!" Zuko shouted back.
Iroh's face was that of pure disappointment, but he pulled you along with him as you both fled.
Once Iroh decided it was safe, and he felt like he couldn't run any more, he stopped to talk to you.
"I... I am very... out... of shape!" He said to you as he rested with his arms on his knees.
"He's gonna lose, ain't he?" You said glumly.
"Yes. I'm afraid he wasn't as completely changed as I would have liked to think he was. I think we should try to get him back one more time. In the meantime, I think I know where we should go."
You continued following Iroh at a much more reasonable pace. After about fifteen minutes of walking, you arrived in front of a strange house. You heard two familiar voices and one unfamiliar one inside.
"Someone's at the door. Two people." The unknown female voice stated.
"Do you think it's more Dai Li agents?" That was Sokka.
"No, I know one of them. An old friend of mine. Come in!" The girl called out.
As you walked in, you came face to face with Sokka, Aang and a short, blind girl.
"Toph, Azula has captured Zuko. I am begging you, please help me rescue him!" Iroh begged.
So Toph's her name. Interestin'.
"Maybe first, you can introduce your friend." She stated.
