12: Jet and Jin Attack

It took another few weeks for anything exciting to happen, but when it did happen, it was pretty crazy. The day had started off just like any other.

"Zuk-er Lee, Jin wants more Oolong tea." You told him flippantly.

"Ugh, can't you get it? It's super busy, YN. I'm serving like, five guys right now!"

"Well maybe if I served the men..."

"No! GAH! Fine! I'll get Jin's tea. Just... go wash some tea cups or something."

"Fine, but don't look now, your best friend is here."

"Wha--" Zuko's head whipped around to see Jet burst in the door.

"That's it! I can't take it anymore! These two are fire benders! And they're holding that girl hostage!"

"Me? Nah. Not hostage. Just desperately in love!" You winked at Zuko as you continued washing dishes.

"Dear boy, I am afraid you are mistaken. We are not fire benders. We are refugees, just like you." Iroh tried to defuse him, but Jet would not be soothed.

"Fire bend! Do it now!" Jet whipped out his hooks and attacked a table, challenging Zuko.

"Woah, woah, woah, cool off, Jet!" You stepped out of the kitchen and stood in front of Jet.

"You don't tell me what to do! They're fire benders! I'll save you!" His hooks came flying at you, but before you even bothered to stop him, Zuko had borrowed two broad swords from a customer and met Jet's hooks with a crash.

"Take it outside, Lee!" The store owner cried.

As the fight continued on, you ran over to Iroh.

"Is he gonna be alright?" You asked as you held onto his arm.

"Yes, my dear. I'm afraid this was rather unavoidable." He responded as he rubbed your arms. "By the way, YN, I really do like your necklace. When did you pick that up?"

"Oh, do ya? Zuko gave it to me."

"So that's where my money went! Ah, well it looks so good on you, I think I will let it pass."

"Aw, thanks old man. Oh look, here comes the police. What should I say?"

"Don't say anything my dear, I will handle it."

And handle it, he did. Soon enough the Ba Sing Se police had carted Jet off and everything had calmed down once again. Eventually the hustle and bustle returned inside the tea shop. Within the next hour, things only got livelier.

"Zuko, you should start getting ready! You wouldn't want to be late." Iroh called out.

"Late for what?" You popped up right behind Iroh.

"Ah!" Iroh jumped and made a guilty face. "Zuko is trying to make a new... friend. Jin, you know her... Well... They're just going... out on the town. You and I can sample the new teas that just came in! I'm sure they won't be long!"

"Hmm. Seems... suspicious..." You narrowed your eyes and looked at Zuko.

"I... uh... promise I'll be quick?" Zuko ventured. He didn't know why he had bothered to accept this stupid request from his uncle. He didn't even like Jin. He liked you. But now here he was, going on a date with the tea shop regular.

And you weren't quite sure what to think of it.
