Welcome To Earth
Ludo enters the palace, an eager grin on his face. Today is the day he would get his wand from his father, Toffee.
Toffee wasn't his biologic father. He was adopted. Toffee would always avoid the death of his real parents, so he never asked. He approaches his father with an eager grin, so happy to get the wand.
"Ludo," Toffee explains, "there's something you must know."
"What is it dad?" Ludo asks.
"When you take this wand," Toffee sighs, "you must leave Mewni."
"What?" Ludo inquires.
"Ludo," Toffee leans down to look his son in the eye, "there's something I haven't told you. There's this Mewmen she-"
"Sir!" A friend of Toffee's barges in, a frog monster named Buff Frog, "she's here!"
Toffee's eyes go wide. He opens a portal, and explains quickly "listen, there's this Mewmen. Star Butterfly. She hates monsters. Remember what I taught about Memwens."
"All Mewmens are evil," Ludo grins.
"Good," Toffee smiles, "now, you have to go before-"
"Toffee!" I voice booms, as a Mewmen in an old green dress with a demon by her side barges in, "I've come for what's mine!"
"Go!" Toffee yells, handing Life the spell book and drawing his blade.
Ludo nods, and leaves.
"Nice try," Toffee chuckles, "but you've exposed yourself Star."
"Run," the demon demands, "I'll hold him off."
"What about you Tom?" Star asks.
"Don't worry," he smiles, "I'd do anything for my Shining Star."
Star hugs Tom.
"Thanks Tom," she smiles, "I love you. Be safe."
"I will," he smiles.
Star flees.
"Toffee," Tom glares, "your reign ends now!"
"You're welcome to try," Toffee chuckles, "let's just get to the point."
The two lunge at eachother...
Meanwhile, Ludo finds himself in an unfamiliar place. A world called Earth. "Ah," a fat man in a suit greets, "you must be Ludo."
Ludo studies the vastly round man before him and blinks sluggishly, his heart races at a dangerously quick pace , thumping in his chest from the narrow escape from the Mewman. He swallows roughly and gives a slight nod as the suited man spares him a wide grin, “Great! If you would follow me.” He gestures to Ludo and begins strolling through the building’s hallways. Ludo glances at his surroundings, curious as to where his father’s portal had exactly taken him.
A frown crosses Ludo’s polished beak as he tentatively speaks up, a thought occurring to him. “Sir,” he pauses, watching the man stop near a wooden door. He digs through his pockets and retrieves a set of keys, the man glances behind him and peers at Ludo through his spectacles. He nods, gesturing him to resume talking with a small smile.
Ludo breathes out, slowly but surely, “Sir, you might know that…I'm not from around here—“
The man laughs, “Boy, it's obvious since you…” He considers explaining how different Ludo looks compared to anyone else in the area but goes against it, deciding it to be rude
Ludo cocks his head to the side and shrugs his small shoulders, “Anyways, I'm confused. I know I'm in Earth but…where exactly am I on Earth?” The man props the door open and strides inside, Ludo closely behind. The man shuts the wooden door and plops his round form behind a large desk, he gazes at Ludo with an odd aura. With a hum he leans back in his chair and studies the popcorn ceiling above them.
“You're in Echo Creek. And…you're going to need a guide.” He murmurs, thoughtfully as he sits up and rummages through his drawer. Ludo furrows his brows in confusion. The man’s large hand grasps a brown folder and he drops it on his desk’s surface, the folder reads a single name: Marco Ulbaldo Diaz.
Meanwhile, Marco sits in his class, taking notes on every word the teacher says, playing it safe as per usual. That is, until, he gets called to the office.
"Oh boy," he tried to make a big deal of it in front of Jackie, who just smiles, finding the display more cute than actually "bad", "looks like I'm in trouble."
Marco heads to the office, where Ludo sits, now examining his wand. It has a scaly texture of a sea green color, and the star at the top glows with a yellow light. Marco walks in.
"Ah," the principle smiles, "Marco. I need you to show this new student around you seemed like the safe choice."
"Oh ha ha," Marco fakes a laugh, "I'm just a misunderstood bad boy. So, where this this kid?"
"Hi," Ludo greets, extending his arm for a handshake, "my name's Ludo. I'm a monster prince."
Marco's first instinct is to back out of the room, slowly. He rubs his eyes, to make sure he's not just gone batty, and sees Ludo still there with a smile.
"Nice to meet you," he greets awkwardly, "My name's Marco. Come on. I'll show you around..."
Meanwhile, Star retreats to her home. An old monster temple.
"Did you get it?" Kelly asks, walking up to Star with Tad.
"No," Star explains, "call Ponyhead. Ludo's on Earth, and we're going to attack..."
Ludo looks around, drinking in his new home, memorizing every detail. An unpleasant frown threatens to spill over his features at the possibility of never returning to his father though he fights it down and peers at the boy beside him. Marco Diaz steals a look at Ludo and quickly glances away once the two lock gazes. Ludo arches a single eyebrow and taps his wand against his beak, stopping his footfall temporarily.
Marco begrudgingly halts his stride and looks at Ludo, clearly uncomfortable.
Ludo notices this odd behavior and sighs deeply, “I know you're kinda weirded out, Marco,” the boy looks startled for a moment, “because I look different and because I'm a monster prince. But, I'm not mean or anything.” He offers Marco a bright smile. Marco bites his lower lip and gives a nervous laugh.
“I'm sorry if I hurt you or anything but to us monsters are just that…monsters. Plus, they're fictional creatures from storybooks. Seeing a living one like yourself just caught me off guard. I'm…sorry.” He mumbled his apology with an uncertain smile wavering on his face. Ludo looks down at his shoes and thinks for a minute.
He exhales, “Everyone always think monsters are the evil ones. If anything, we’re the nice ones!” His expression clouds over with dark hatred, Marco takes a step back.“Where I come from; Mewmans are evil! They're soulless barbarians!” He growled, remembering what his father repeatedly tells him about them. The sight of the blonde Mewman barging through his home made slight fear prickle his mind like a cactus.
Marco looks curious, his awkwardness faded ever so slightly. “Where are you from anyways?”
Ludo smiles, “Well, far, far away from here there's a world called Mewni…”
Neither of them notice that a portal has been opened behind them, and Star has been listening in with Kelly, Tad, and Ponyhead.
"One slight correction," she grins with malice, "monsters are just that. Monsters."
"You!" Ludo glares, "how did you even get here?"
"What's going on?" Marco asks, baffled by the sight of a living head of a unicorn, a girl with long green hair, with what appears to be living hair on top, and a cute blonde girl with hearts on her cheeks in a ratty green dress.
He tries to ignore the whole "cute" thing.
"Ugh," Ludo sighs, "that's a Mewmen. Star. She's been after my wand for years. Since she was my hight."
"And now," Star chuckles, "I'm going to get it. Ponyhead!"
"Sure thing gurl!" Ponyhead smiles as he lunges at Marco. Marco's instincts kick in, and he grabs Ponyhead by the horn, and throws her back at Star.
"See!?!" Ludo asks, "she's mad!"
Ponyhead and Star fall to the ground. Ludo blasts at Kelly, who lunges with her sword, but only Marco notices as Star asks Ponyhead, "you OK?"
"Ow ow ow!" Ponyhead exclaims, "my horn! He broke my horn!"
"Curses!" Star growls, "we can't stay here. You're hurt."
"I'm fine. We can do this."
"I can't force you to fight. We're going back. Kelly! Tad! Let's go!"
Kelly and Tad recover from the blast and flee through the portal. Marco is conflicted. The way Star treated her friend was kind, not barbaric at all.
"Well," Ludo smiles with his sharp teeth, "that was easy. You were dude!"
Marco pushed the though aside and smiles back, "dude! That wand is cool! What else can it do?"
"Well," Ludo gets a mischievous grin, "let's find out. Hmmmm..."
"Can it make ice cream?"
"Let's see. Brain freeze blast!"
Ice cream falls from the sky like snow, as pink clouds appear from the wand.
Marco sticks out his tounge and catches some.
"Strawberry," he comments, "nice choice."
"Thanks," Ludo smiles, "I've always been one for fruit."
"Well," Marco continues, "I guess you'll be staying at my place?"
"That's what Toffee said."
"Alright. Come on, I'll show you the way..."
Meanwhile, Tom returns to find Ponyhead with her horn wrapped in banadges, and Star with scraped on her elbows.
"What happened?" He asks, approaching Star.
"Ludo wasn't alone," Star replies, "he has a human with him. Some guy in a red hoodie."
"Did he hurt you?" Tom demands, his flames at the ready.
Star notices a red stain on Tom's shirt.
"What happened to you?" She asks.
"Oh," Tom lies, "it's nothing."
"Did you get stabbed!?!"
"It's fine."
"Tom, sit down."
"No! If this human hurt you, I'm going after him!"
"Tom," Star pleads, "do it for me."
Tom looks into Star's eyes and sighs, "fine, but only because I'll just kill him later."
Tom sits down in a chair as Star takes out the gauze and helps him bandage the gash in his chest.
"What do we do?" Kelly asks.
"I need some time to think," Star sighs, "you guys head on home."
"Star," Tom asks, "you're not planning on staying here by yourself are you?"
"I am."
"Look," Tom gets up, "it gets cold here, and the monsters may find you. Why not stay in the Underworld? You'll be safer there."
"I'm fine," Star lies, not wanting to leave the land that she wants to rule.
"Fine," Tom shrugs, "Just... don't attack on your own. OK?"
"Sure," Star lies, "I promise."
Tom and the others leave via portals made by Ponyhead's scissors.
Star waits for them to leave, and heads into the armory. There is a single weapon, and ax, with something engraved on the handle that reads, "to my little Star. -Love, River."
Star holds the ax, and tears well up in her eyes.
"If you want it done right," she growls, "you should just do it yourself."
She pulls out a training dummy and begins to pratice...
