The zeta tubes announced the arrival of Batman, it's glow filling the cave. He walked in expecting a group of teens, but was met with an empty room. His eyes narrowed.

Red Tornado appeared from the iris in the ceiling of the cave, and flew down to greet the Dark Knight.

"Batman. What brings you here?"

"Where's the team?" A gruff voice asked.

"They have found the location of Sportsmaster."

Batman growled. "And they didn't tell me?"

Red Tornado replied. "Forgive me, Batman. But they are unaware of the connection you have to the boy. They are just doing their job."

Batman pulled up the coordinates on the holographic screen, and his eyes narrowed. He walked back to the zeta tubes, his black cape swishing behind.

---

"Jade?"

"Roy. I need your help." Jade said over the phone.

Roy sighed. "We haven't talked in a long time. I'm busy trying to find the real Roy Harper."

"You'll want to listen to me-"

"No! I'm busy, dammit!" Roy shouted on the other end of the receiver.

"It's Robin. Dick Grayson." Jade said calmly, but firmly.

"What do you mea-"

"I have him with me. My father... And I... Kidnapped him... He nee-"

"WHAT THE HELL, JADE?!" Roy interrupted. "You fucking kidnapped him?!"

Jade sighed. "It was all over the news, dumbass. Do you want him to die or not?"

"Fine. I'm coming. I'll track your coordinates." Roy replied angrily, and then hung up.

Jade put the phone back on its holder, and exited the telephone booth. Before her second foot could step out on the road, a sharp pain shot through her leg. She tried to hold in a scream, but it came out.

She tried to ignore the red liquid seeping out of her leg, but couldn't.

'Get up, dammit!' She told herself, trying to push herself up using her other leg.

As Jade finally got her balance, she saw the glowing red dot move from her chest, up to her head. She had no time to move.

'Shi-'

And then the bullet shot her right through the head, and she fell back onto the unforgiving concrete.

"You shoulda listened, baby girl." Sportsmaster stood on the rooftop with his sniper, a wicked grin on his face.

---

"Artemis?"

"Artemis?"

"Artemis, wake up."

Her heavy eyelids opened slowly. "A-Aqualad?"

"Artemis! We have to get out of here-"

Bang.

Then, she realized bullets were firing everywhere. And the team was there!

Aqualad pulled off her restraints while the other teens fought off the horde off gunmen. The archer stood up groggily, still exhausted.

Wally threw Artemis her bow and quiver. "Catch!" He yelled.

She caught them both with ease, slinging the green quiver over her shoulders. Grabbing her bow and an arrow, she pulled back the bow string and fired with great accuracy, knocking an enemy off their feet. Miss Martian, Superboy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Artemis continued to fight.

A man tried firing bullets at Megan, but she used her powers to swipe the gun out of his hands. Startled, he fell to the ground with a thump.

A few other guys tried the same tactic, only for their guns to be stolen from the speedster. They looked around in confusion when their hands were empty, and mentally face palmed when they saw the speedster laughing from the other side of the room.

Superboy knocked them out easily, with the help of Aqualad and Artemis.

"We need to get out." Artemis said with heavy breaths, and the team leader nodded.

They all began to run out of the room, when Artemis suddenly stopped. "Wait."

"What is it?" Superboy asked impatiently, not trying to hide his annoyance.

"Before we go anywhere we find Dick Grayson." The archer said fiercely, her eyes narrowing into a glare.

Miss Martian glanced at Kid Flash with uncertainty and Connor growled. "We don't have time for this!"

"Our mission was to find Grayson, idiot! We search for him!" Artemis snapped, exiting the room and running down the hallways.

"Artemis!" Aqualad shouted, but got no reply.

"I guess we split up then." Wally said with a sigh.

Kaldur nodded. "Yes. But don't cause unneeded attention. There are most likely other enemies in the vicinity."

"Got it. I'll set up a mind link." Miss Martian replied, setting up the link. The teens could feel each other's presences in their minds.

---

What the hell was this place?

Roy was currently aimlessly wandering empty streets, hoping to find Jade- but to no avail. He used a tracker to find the coordinates of where she was at.

"Only a couple hundred feet till destination. I can get off the motorcycle." He told himself.

Then he paused.

"Why am I talking to myself? What the actual fuck?"

'Ugh. Whatever. Just find Jade for fuck's sake, Roy.'

He hopped off of the motorcycle, removing the helmet. What? Even superheroes need basic safety.

As he neared a corner, the dot on the tracker started blinking. When Roy looked at the telephone booth, he was surprised when all he saw was a pool of crimson liquid.

"Shit." He cursed, running to the phone booth. The blood was in front of it, and it was a large quantity of it as well.

"Whoever got shot probably died."

Then realization hit him.

"Dammit! Jade!"

Quickly he ran over and leaned down. He took a blood sample so he could test it, and put the small vial in his pocket. His mind was going crazy. Not only was Jade most likely dead, but Robin, his friend, was somewhere only Cheshire knew of.

'This is not gonna be easy.' He thought, and sighed.

He began to search the nearby buildings, trying to find heat signatures with his tech.

After at least an hour of breaking down doors, crashing into windows, and climbing up roofs, Roy found absolutely nothing. It was time to expand his search further.

It was also time to get some help, as much as he didn't want it.

---

"We've found nothing!" Wally nearly screeched when the team decided to rendezvous.

"Are we sure we searched everywhere?" Megan asked.

Artemis sighed. "Every nook and cranny. Now what?"

"Now, we search elsewhere." Interrupted Batman.

The team looked shocked. "How did you find us Batman?"

"I tracked you. It was unwise to go out into the field without my consent." Batman said gruffly, directing his attention to each of the teens.

Superboy glared, and Megan looked down in shame. "We're sorry."

Suddenly, Batman's communicator got a call. From Red Arrow.

Batman picked up the communicator and answered. "Roy, what is it?"

All the team could hear was a one sided conversation.

"You found him?"

"We're on our way."

Batman shut off the communicator. "Team, let's go."

"Bats, what did Roy say?" Wally asked pleadingly, worried for his best friend.

"He said he found the possible location of the boy. Now let's go." Batman ordered, and the team obeyed.

They all headed to the bioship, strapping into the seats. "We're ready to go." Megan announced, and they took off to Roy's location.

---

Roy saw the bioship come into view and sighed. Finally... took them long enough.

When it landed, Batman was first to exit, quick on his feet. The rest of the team followed behind him.

"Is this the building he's in?" Batman questioned.

"No. Already checked... I've checked almost every building here, but Cheshire said he's here. She even took care of him." Roy explained.

"He was in the care of an assassin?" Batman said darkly. Roy winced.

"I'm pretty sure she's dead." He confirmed, and Artemis' face went blank.

"What?!" She cried, approaching the older archer. "What do you mean she's dead?!"

"Artemis, I don't know for sure. I'll have to confirm it with a blood sample I found, later. I didn't even find a body so we wouldn't know." He assured.

Artemis stepped back, on the verge of tears.

"You are all to search each and every building in this district. Every single room." Batman ordered, and then took off to search on his own.

Megan flew away, Superboy jumped away, Kaldur and Wally ran off, and Artemis and Roy used their grapple arrows to switch from building to building.

A few minutes later, Megan felt someone's presence in a building. "Come to my location, now!" She shouted in the mind link.

They all did as she asked, meeting up in front of the building. "I think someone's in there. Dead or alive, I don't know- but there's someone." She explained, and the teens all headed into the building.

It was an apartment building- very large at that. The teens plus Batman followed the Martian so she could lead the way.

They finally reached the room, kicking down the door. Batman went in first, and the rest of the teens checked each room.

Batman opened the door to the last room, nearly collapsing.

He just froze.

What was he supposed to do after seeing this?

The teenagers froze as well, shock on their faces. Batman was the worst of them.

It wasn't hard to put two and two together now. With Wally's need to find the boy, Roy's involvement, and Batman's complete and utter despair... the team now knew Robin was the one that was laying on a blood covered bed, dead.

Dick Grayson was dead.

Robin was dead.

And he wasn't coming back.

The end.
