Suryanagar is a neighbouring Kingdom to Ayodhya. It was established by Maharaj Ravi, younger brother of Maharaj Raghu.

Raghu being elder got the throne of Ayodhya, Ravi established his own Kingdom on the east of Ayodhya with blessing of Suryadev and named it Suryanagar.

An extremely prosperous Kingdom it was, shining like the glorious sun itself, the skies were adorned with golden Vimans flying among the white clouds.

The houses although made of stone looked like they were made of gold. People celebrated every little occasion, they knew how to be happy.

The palace was built highly, touching the skies and the clouds. More grand than any other palace of Bharatvarsh.

The Kings here were known for their righteousness, bravery, sacrifices and justice. And due to such great kings people knew nothing of sadness.

Trilokadi-pati Dashanan Lankesh Ravan once heard that there was a kingdom said to be much beautiful than his swarniya Lanka. He came to Suryanagar to check for himself, and was astonished realizing that the rumors were true indeed.

Ravan knew he had to make Suryanagar his own. So he challenged the young king Vishwaroop for a duel, but he was unaware of the fact that the rulers of Suryanagar had a boon from Suryadev that they cannot be defeated in duel.

Lankesh and Vishwaroop enagaged in a duel with Ravan failing miserably, he wasn't even able to put a scratch on the young man against him, but he himself endured much injuries.

Ravan accepted his defeat and went back to Lanka with his wounded ego, never wanting to hear the name of Vishwaroop or Suryanagar ever again.

This was seen by Maharaj Bhaskar of Kanchandham, who came here to form a trade alliance with Suryanagar but thought a marriage alliance would be much better.

According to Maharaj Bhaskar, Maharaj Vishwaroop was the ideal husband for his head strong daughter Sharani.
