Chapter 7

The foot stomped down on the ground and the dinosaur let out a small roar while a small child was sitting on its back in the petting zoo, giggling. Other children on the smaller ones. Children petting a tiny cat-sized one in the arms of another worker.

"Lift me up. I can't see!" Gray huffed as he jumped behind the crowd of people trying to get a better look.

"I'm not Dad. And you're not five," Zach said as he walks passed, Gray pushing passed taking pictures.

"I can still ride the Triceratops. I'm 47-and-a-half inches." They walked passed Zara who was on the phone.

"This place is for little kids." Zach sighed, Gray doing the same.

"Yeah, I know. Wanna go on the spinning dinosaur eggs?" Gray took more pictures.

"Nope. Cover up your dork pouch." He pulled Gray's shirt down over his fanny pack.

"-Because it's my wedding." Zach looked back to Zara, who is still on the phone, he couldn't believe someone was going to marry her...He wondered if Marlo knew, and if not, how would she react to this news? Zara continued to complain. "No, Alec's not having a bachelor party...Because all his friends are animals." Zach look back in front of him.

"Scatter," he spoke in a hushed tone.

     "What?" Gray asked.

"Go. Run. Go!" Just as they ran passed, three girls cooed at one of the smaller dinosaurs.

"Yuck!" The three girls laughed as the dinosaurs ate out of one of their hands.

-

Both Zach and Gray were running, laughing at the fact they lost Zara. The P.A announcer spoke up after it finished in another language.

"The next T. Rex feeding will begin in 10 minutes."

"T. Rex! Come on, man! Come on!" He yelled to Zach. Gray started to run.

-

Marlo was the only employee to go into the T-Rex paddock, as she was the only one that seemed to be able to get away from her without being seen, especially during feeding time. She had placed a goat on a log for her lunch and whistled to let the dinosaur to let her know it was okay for her to come out. When she heard the heavy footsteps she walked back out towards the employee exit—which was extremely hard to open and notice without someone from the control room opening it for her, a small red light indicating where it would be.

She looked up towards the camera and put her thumbs up with a grin before pointing finger guns at it—knowing Lowery was watching. The paddock door closed after she got out and she had then walked out to the middle of the park. She was getting ready to walk into the main building to get her work schedule from Claire when she was pushed over to the ground, she was about to yell when she saw it was Gray leaning over her who had a massive smile etched on his face.

"Marlo!" He yelled excitedly, he got off her and she stood up not bothering to dust herself off like Gray did. "I found you!" Zach had now caught up with Gray and smirked at Marlo, she didn't know why he did or why finding her was important. "Now you get to come with us." Now she remembered. Marlo looked around with a confused look.

"Where's Satan?" She looked to Zach and he motioned his head towards the direction that Marlo assumed they came from. "Ah, the petting zoo." Zach nodded to her. "Do you seriously want me to come with you two? Or were you joking? Because I'm pretty sure I was joking...Wasn't I?" Marlo didn't even know if she actually meant what she said before.

The two walked on leaving Marlo to glance back at the building, she did have a job to do after all, would it be a good idea to just drop it and spend a day with two run always? Still looking at the building she felt a tug on her hand and turned to find the reason for it, Gray had grabbed hold of her sleeve and pulled it towards him in the direction he and his brother were heading. She rolled her eyes but nonetheless followed behind Gray as he walked quicker to catch up to Zach who was walking backwards watching Marlo with a smirk placed on his lips.

"Come to join us on an adventure, Mars?" He raised his eyebrows before turning back to face where he was heading. Marlo raised her eyebrows as she heard the new nickname Zach had given her, he didn't know her long enough but was more than happy to rename her. It was the name Owen had chosen, but she guessed it was just an obvious option to pick. She knew she would give him one sooner or later to even out the scores. "Trust me, both of you, I promise that I won't let anything happen to either of you." He turned his head slightly to look at both of them.

Marlo was the one who was meant to look after them, well only until they got to the hotel then it was all on Zara. However Marlo knew she couldn't trust the idiotic assistant. But she didn't know why someone—who didn't know the island or the dinosaurs that inhabited it—would tell her that he would keep his little brother and her safe. Marlo had a sickening feeling about the events yet to follow, however she continued to follow the two brothers despite the fact her feelings were usually right.

"Don't keep promises you can't keep, Zach. It won't help the cause," Marlo mumbled more to herself than to Zach but he still heard and he shook his head at her slightly disagreeing. Gray wasn't paying attention to the two teenagers but rather towards the T-Rex area of the island, Marlo quickened her pace not wanting to lose him.

"C'mon! Hurry up you two!" Gray shouted from the entrance of the T-Rex habitat. The P.A starts up again.

"Parents be aware, this show may be disturbing for smaller children."

     Zach's phone started to ring.

"Hey, Mum," Zach answered while Gray kept jumping to have a look.

"You were supposed to call me when you landed. Are you having fun?" Karen asked.

"Yeah, I guess. Aunt Claire gave us passes, so we don't have to wait in line," Zach said in a bored tone.

"Wait, she's not with you?" Karen asked.

"No, Marlo is." Marlo stopped walking and looked back at him confused before seeing his phone.

     "Marlo? Who is Marlo?"

"Look, I gotta go, okay?" Zach hung up and walked in further to the habitat area.

Marlo groaned and walked quicker nonetheless to catch up making Zach smirk at her. "Guys look! It's feeding time, it's a goat!" Gray grabbed hold of Marlo's hand and tugged her to the front to look through the glass window. The windows were placed in a hollowed out tube that looked like a log in order to keep them mostly hidden from the queen of the dinosaurs.

"I know, I put it there," Marlo said to him, she saw from the corner of her eye that he turned to look at her with a wide smile on his face, other children around her heard and glanced to her direction. "She likes goats." She looked down to Gray who quickly turned his head to the glass when he saw her turn to look at him with a light red tint coming to his cheeks.

"Wouldn't it eat other dinosaurouses?" She heard Zach—who genuinely sounded like he thought 'dinosaurouses' was the correct term—and rolled her eyes as she turned her body to face him to tell him otherwise but ended up hitting her body into his as he was right behind her with little to no gap between them. He placed his hand on her back to keep her steady while her body was pressed flat against his chest.

"Firstly, 'it' is a she. Secondly, do you own a dictionary? Dinosaurouses? That's not a word. And no she doesn't, unless it's dead and easily moved into her paddock." Their chests were touching, Marlo had the decency to look at his eyes whereas Zach looked up from her chest with wide eyes to her lips then slowly to her eyes while slightly biting his bottom lip with an annoying smirk.

It made her uncomfortable to think that he was looking at her almost like he was looking at his prey, or like he was undressing her with his eyes. She didn't realise his hand was on her back until it moved from the side of her waist down to her lower back, she raised an eyebrow before pushing his hand away.

"My apologies to her." Zach smirked as he raised his hands, this time she did look towards his lips then back up to his eyes almost as if the glance to his lips never happened. Gray had took a couple of pictures before pushing Zach away from his new found friend and took hold of her hand again. "Dude, stop holding her hand like a baby." Gray frowned and was about to let go when Marlo squeezed his hand making him smile once more, and another red tint came to his face as he looked down a bit more, with a shy smile.

"Do you want to see something cool?" Marlo asked Gray and he nodded his head vigorously. "I think you will like this." Marlo dragged Gray out from the crowed and Zach followed while he typed away on his phone. Marlo couldn't register why he was on his phone when he was surrounded by creatures that had been extinct but were now thriving with life, sure she had a phone but she never used it, or knew where it was.

She pushed passed people and managed to get middle row seats to the Mosasaurus feeding show. She sat down next to Gray, who wedge himself in between the older teenagers, and waited for the show to start.
