Chapter Eight
Because of you.
School was crazy for me. It was my first day at this new school. I moved recently to this new neighborhood and school. I don't know anyone yet so it felt really weird for me when I went to school today. I've never moved schools, or move houses either especially. But we had to move. We had no choice.
If we were able to choose, we wouldn't have moved at all. It was hard leaving all my friends behind. My mom said that we could make new friends. I thought in my mind, thinking that might never happen. I didn't make friends all that easy sometimes. I naturally tried my best being nice, but some people just acted like I was rude instead and just would be rude back. I wasn't popular in High School. Though it's my second year in High School.
"Sweetie?!" My mom yelled to me as she spoke with a nice tone.
"Yes mom?!" I asked back.
"Dinner's ready!!"
"Ok! Coming!"
I go to the dinner table as I help my mom put the food and utensils on the table. After we were done, we started eating. Not too long after, I heard a knock on the door. I went to go open the door. As I was now by the door, I opened the door to see who it was. I was surprised to see "my father" standing at the door. I was surprised to see him, but I didn't show it.
I glared at him the same glare I've done for a bit now. I saw his hand move, and he had almost slapped me, but I dodged. When he hits, he hits hard. I'm not lying when I say that either. I was about to dodge another hit, but he got me and he smacked me hard in the face. I rubbed my cheek a bit, as it was now really red. My mom had saw and glared angrily at him.
"How dare YOU hit my daughter?!" She yelled, storming to "my dad" angrily. She had always liked to help me no matter what. No matter how old I was. She liked helping.
He acted like he did nothing to me, though he clearly has and smiled his fake smile at both of us. "I just wanted to see how my family is doing."
We glared at him still. We sometimes wouldn't show any expression at all.
I decided to speak up, "This isn't your family. It never was, and never will be." I spoke with a cold, angry tone.
He started to glare at me. "Don't speak to me like that."
"Just leave. Now." My mother said glaring, as if she was glaring into his soul.
My father just glared. "No I don't need to leave. I can come when I wish, and you have no say of what I can and can't do!"
I had it. I was sick and tired of his crap. I decided to speak up.
"Just shut up! You are not supposed to be here! Why don't you just leave us alone?! In peace?! You aren't welcome here anymore."
This surprised "my dad". He had never heard me sound this mad before. He glared and decided to leave as he walked back to his car, and drove away.
My mom smiled at me. I smiled back, though I noticed that she looked stressed. We went back to to the dinner table to eat dinner.
My name is Magpie Somerhalder, I'm 17 and my parents are divorced. Why you may ask? Because my father always treated our family badly. I'm actually glad he had left. He comes back sometimes. I was only 12 when they were divorced. So it's been 6 years now.
