Clara's POV
We ran down yet another hallway, that'd been all we'd been doing since the incident with the window. It took me back to the days of running in the glade. I glanced over at Tommy and smirked realizing how far we've all come since his first day in the maze. He looked back at me and arched a brow, probably wondering why I was downright staring at him. I smiled and shook my head dismissing my thoughts, and returned my attention to where we were heading.
Brenda led us outside and once again it felt like we were physically being assaulted by the sun. We wandered through buildings with Brenda leading, Chase following second, and Thomas bringing up the rear. My eyes scanned every inch of every building looking for anything that might pop out at us or Newt. I was always looking for Newt... the sun was almost setting again and I couldn't believe how fast the days seemed to be going while we were out here. Did days normally pass by this quickly? My heart clinched again when I thought about how long it'd been since I last saw Newt. I missed absolutely everything about him. I found my mind wandering yet again to if they were okay or not and I was bumped out of my thoughts by Thomas. I looked up to find his eyes on me and a frown on his face.
You're being awfully quiet
I smiled lightly at him before bumping his shoulder and letting out a quiet sigh.
I miss them Tommy. I miss Newt and Minho. Can't help wondering if...
He quickly cut me off before my thoughts could lead down the path he knew they would.
You can't think that way Clara. They're fine and you know it. It's been a while since we've seen them so that's why you're feeling this way. That's all.
I nodded realizing he was right and I instantly felt foolish for even thinking that they might not be alright.
Thanks Tommy. Are we stopping to rest soon?
He nodded before he caught himself and glanced over at me.
Yeah, I'm sure we are. We'll find somewhere safe to sleep and before you know it we'll find the others.
Brenda turned then and looked between Tommy and I with a curiousness in her gaze. "Alright, well we should probably stop for the night. We're almost there anyway so we don't want to go in after dark." She led us to a truck, thankfully one that had a back seat, and we all climbed in. Thomas and Chase climbed in the front while Brenda and I took the back seat.
"Are you sure we'll be safe in here?" Chase asked, turning in the seat to see us.
Brenda shrugged, looking around outside. "We should be."
"That's reassuring." I mumbled with a smile on my face before looking around the truck we were in. I picked up a sack that was on the floor letting out a quiet squeal when a mouse ran out from under it. "Oh my God!"
Thomas and Chase both flipped around quickly while Brenda laughed. I narrowed my eyes at her and let out a sharp breath before sinking back in the seat. "It was a mouse, okay? Freaked me out."
Both boys grinned and Chase shook his head before leaning over the seat. "Well, I don't think the little mousey is going to hurt you Clara." He mocked me in the stupid baby voice he liked to use anytime he thought I acted childish.
I smacked the back of his head before leaning back against the seat. "I won't be able to sleep for a while now." My eyes met Thomas' and he smiled warmly at me.
"We could always play a game?" He asked, shrugging and looking at Chase and Brenda.
"I'm listening." Brenda replied with a grin.
"We could do truth or ... truth?" Thomas mumbled with a nervous laugh.
I rolled my eyes at him before leaning forward. "Okay, you start Tommy."
"Brenda, is it true that..." He shrugged and sighed , looking around. "Well, this will be harder than I thought."
We all started laughing before Brenda quickly leaned forward. "I'll just go. Thomas, is it true you have a crush on someone?"
His cheeks burned but he rolled his eyes. "Right, yeah, totally." He snorted and shook his head before returning his gaze to her. "This was a stupid idea. We can't even...we can't do anything like truth or dare."
"Well, if anyone has alcohol I have an idea." I added with a grin, looking outside once again.
Chase leaned over and grabbed the bag he'd been carrying around. "I may have swiped this from that food cabinet before the place blew up." He pulled out a small bottle of vodka and smiled. "It should last us for a little while."
Brenda's mouth dropped and she smacked Chase in the arm. "You stole my liquor?"
Everyone started laughing as Brenda grabbed the bottle and took a drink. "Okay, I'll start this game. Never have I ever made out with a boy."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the bottle, taking a big swig. "Alright, I can see how this is gonna go. Never have I ever hooked up with a girl."
Brenda took the bottle and winked at me as she took a drink before passing it to Chase. Both boys stared at her with wide eyes and mouths dropped before Chase remembered he was supposed to drink. He passed the bottle to Thomas but he shook his head, his cheeks heating up. I leaned against the seat and glanced over at him. "Nothing wrong with that." I whispered to him with a small smile.
Just waiting for that perfect someone.
His voice sounded somewhat nervous and I quickly turned to him.
"We could always play truth or dare with this." Brenda asked grinning at us. "I already have a perfect dare in mind for you two." She winked at me and I quickly shook my head.
"No, I'm good." I let out a nervous laugh and Brenda quickly grabbed the bottle. "Never have I ever made out with a girl. Something I've always wanted to try." She winked at me again and I found myself leaning back against the window, further away from Brenda. She laughed and rolled her eyes. "Clara, I'm kidding. I've totally made out with a girl before." She grinned at me before holding up the bottle. "Never have I ever had a crush on a friend." She held the bottle out and Thomas and I both reached for it. I laughed before taking a quick drink and passing it to him. He took a quick drink with flushed cheeks, glancing at Chase and gesturing to the bottle. Chase shook his head with a grin, he wasn't guilty of that one.
Thomas held the bottle and glanced around at our small group. "Never have I ever lit a building on fire." He smirked and handed the bottle to Chase who grudgingly took the bottle.
"Alright, I see how it is. Never have I ever tried to drown my best friend." Chase handed the bottle back to Thomas and he quickly shook his head. "It almost happened, I didn't try to drown you." Thomas took a drink none the less before glancing at me. "Never have I ever threatened to kill the most popular girl in school."
"Bitch had it coming, I'll drink to that." I quickly grabbed the bottle, winking at Thomas as I grabbed it. His fingers brushed mine as I grabbed the bottle and chills shot through me. I glanced at him and noticed a frown on his face and a blush in his cheeks. Had he felt it too? I shrugged before looking up at Brenda. "Never have I ever almost crashed through a window and fallen thirty feet to my most certain death."
"Oh, a little love for Brenda. How sweet." She smirked and rolled her eyes before taking a drink. She snorted as an idea came to mind and she quickly turned to Chase. "Chase, truth or dare."
Chase groaned and dropped his head against the window. "Screw it, dare."
Brenda grinned before she grabbed Chase's chin and pulled him to her. "I dare you to give me my first kiss from a guy."
Chase's cheeks heated and he leaned in and gently pressed his lips to Brenda's. I gasped and glanced at Thomas who was watching with mild curiosity. He glanced at me and waggled his eye brows at me causing me to laugh. Chase pulled away slightly and smirked as he grabbed the bottle. "I just want a drink." He chugged some before looking at Thomas, his eyes already somewhat hazy. "Alright Tommy, I dare you to streak around the truck. Just one little lap, really quick so it's not too dangerous."
Thomas' eyes widened and his cheeks reddened before he shrugged. "Okay, you're on."
I found my own cheeks heating up as Thomas stepped outside, shutting the truck door behind him. He pulled off his shirt and I had to fight to pull my gaze away. I had no idea Thomas was so...built. As much as I hated to admit it, he had a nice body. Who knew that's what my best friend was hiding under his clothes?
He ran around the truck before getting dressed and climbing back in, face pale after running out in the cold. He took a drink and cringed before looking at me with hazy eyes. "Oh Clara, I wish I could give you the same dare." Everyone started laughing and he quickly shook his head with a grin on his face. "No, I'm kidding. Clara, I dare you to um...give Brenda a lap dance."
My eyes widened and my heart started pounding in my chest. Could this be any more awkward? I looked at Brenda and noticed her cheeks were red as she looked back at me. Could I really do this? I shrugged, taking a big swig of the liquor before crawling over to her. The liquor gave me the confidence I needed as I'm sure my own eyes had the hazy gloss now. I wrapped my arms around her neck and smiled lightly at her. "Sorry." I whispered with an apologetic smile.
She cleared her throat and nodded, eyes quickly darting down my body. I glanced over my shoulder and noticed Thomas watching us with wide eyes and turned to see Chase staring at Brenda. Thank God he wasn't watching this or it would be super weird. Not that it wasn't already weird.
I quickly danced on her lap as best as I could in the smaller vehicle before sliding back to my spot and taking the bottle from Thomas again, taking another swig. My head started spinning as I looked at Brenda with a smirk. "Brenda, switching gears again because I don't have a dare for you...never have I ever received a lap dance from a girl."
Everyone let out a laugh as Brenda crawled over to me. "That's about to change honey." She grabbed the bottle of liquor and took a big drink before lightly placing her lips on mine. I could only taste the vodka she just drank and quickly pulled back, my heart pounding. "I can't...I'm sorry but I don't think Newt..." I trailed off and she let out a sharp laugh. "It's not cheating if it's with a girl and we have witnesses." She shrugged and looked at the boys with an arch in her brow. Both boys quickly shook their heads. "Nope, definitely not." Thomas said causing Chase to snicker.
"You guys are ridiculous! Why would the gender of the person matter? It's still cheating." I pushed Brenda away from me and smiled at her. "I'm sorry, I just can't..." I took in a nervous breath and Brenda nodded in understanding. "Sorry, changed my mind." She pushed me back against the window and crawled on my lap, instantly grinding her hips against mine. My eyes widened and my heart beat furiously in my chest. And more than anything at that point in time, I missed Newt. I pushed her away again and she laughed as she climbed off my lap.
She retreated to her side of the back seat and took another drink before smiling at Thomas. "Thomas, I dare you to plant one on the girl you've always had a crush on." She narrowed her eyes at him with a playful smile and handed the bottle to him. He cleared his throat and rolled his eyes. "What do I have to do if that's ridiculous and I forfeit?"
She shrugged and looked at me. "You have to get a lap dance from Clara. She's really good at them you know." She winked at me before turning back to Thomas.
My wide eyes met Chase's and I tried as hard as I could to beg him to stop this. It wasn't fun anymore. I couldn't...I couldn't do that to Thomas. That just...no! I shook my head and he took in a deep breath before grabbing the bottle. "I think that's enough of that." Chase took a swig of the liquor and turned an uncomfortable grimace to Brenda. "Where'd you grow up at Brenda?"
She leaned in and grinned easily launching into a conversation with him. I glanced at Thomas and noticed him turn his gaze to the window as I dropped my head against the seat. Thomas turned more towards me and whispered, "I'm sorry about that." In the space between the window and the seats.
"It's okay." I replied quietly, my thoughts drifting to Newt once more. The activities of the night had me missing him more than ever...wishing I could give him a lap dance. I felt my cheeks warm and was thankful no one was looking at me as my eyes slowly closed and I slowly drifted off to sleep.
My hand gripped Newt's tightly as we laid together on his bed. Minho's bed was above us and we could hear his light snores and tried not to laugh when he mumbled in his sleep. Newt rolled to where he was facing me and smiled lightly at me. He brushed the hair from my face and leaned in, kissing me lightly on the cheek.
"You're beautiful Clara. I have no idea what I did to get you to be mine." He spoke softly as to not wake the sleeping boy above us but it would take a lot more than some talking to wake up Minho.
I blushed lightly and was thankful for the darkness surrounding us. "It's not like you're not this amazing and beautiful man yourself, Newtie." I leaned in and kissed the tip of his nose before cuddling into him. His arms wrapped around me and he kissed the top of my head. "I love you Newt." I mumbled happily.
"And I love you Clara. Always."
I woke with a start, looking around and relaxing slightly when I remembered where we were. My heart ached more than ever now and I couldn't wait for the time I could be in Newt's arms again. I looked up to see Thomas climbing out of the truck so I quickly followed. "Tommy?"
He glanced at me before turning back to the wall he was walking to. When I noticed a large emblem painted on the wall, I followed him.
"Thomas, you're the real leader?" I looked to him to find him staring blankly at the wall with wide eyes. "Minho's tattoo says he's the leader...what do you suppose it means?" I asked, only to be met with silence. I reached up and pulled Thomas' shirt down to see if his tattoo still said something about being killed by group b. Thankfully, we had time while walking through the buildings yesterday to discuss everything I missed in detail while I was knocked out.
"What does it say?" He murmured, eyes shifting to mine.
"To be killed by group B."
He sighed before turning back to the truck to wake up Chase and Brenda. "Hey, let's get to Marcus' so we can find the others."
The walk was slow and long as we followed Brenda through the city. It seemed to be much more populated than it had been the previous day and I wasn't the only one to notice. "Does it mean anything that all these people are walking around?" Chase asked, walking beside Brenda. I followed with Thomas directly behind me, making our way slowly through the throng of people.
Brenda shrugged as she continued on. "Probably Marcus having a party."
We stopped in front of a pretty busy building and I glanced over my shoulder at Thomas with an arch in my brow.
"Why are we stopping?"
He shrugged before moving past me and up to Brenda. "What's going on?"
"This is Marcus' place. If Jorge got out, this is where he'd bring your friends."
Thomas glanced at me again before making his way through the crowd with Brenda right behind him. Chase grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him, eyeing everyone walking by. "Don't trust anyone here." Chase whispered.
I rolled my eyes before grinning playfully at him. "You think?"
He quickly turned with a smirk and narrowed his eyes at me. "Okay miss smarty pants that's enough sass out of you."
"Oh really? How old are we again?"
He let out a sharp laugh before he shook his head and returned his gaze to Brenda and Thomas. They were now talking to a blonde man and that's when I noticed the tall blonde girl standing behind us. I squeezed Chase's hand and shifted my gaze to the blonde man at the front of our group. Chase glanced at the woman and pulled me closer to him and we both watched with wide eyes as Thomas and Brenda took a drink from the man. His eyes then flickered back to us and he smiled. "And one for the lady and gent in back!"
I arched a brow at Thomas and he shrugged so I decided it was safe. After taking the drink the man led us into the building and I immediately cringed away from the loud, harsh music flooding through the place. "Okay, let's separate and try to find our friends!" Brenda yelled out, grabbing Thomas' hand and pulling him along with her. Thomas glanced at me quickly before following her and I turned back to Chase.
His grip on my hand tightened and we weaved through the crowd, not coming up with anything. Everything started to blur once we spotted Thomas and Brenda and we quickly made our way over to them. "They're not here!" I yelled out in anger before my gaze met Thomas'. Something seemed...different. I swayed a little bit, having lost my balance and frowned wondering what was happening.
"Oh well, might as well have some fun while we're here!" Brenda called out with a laugh as she roughly grabbed Thomas by the collar of his shirt and kissed him hard on the lips.
He pulled back and his eyes went wide as he looked back at her, shocked.
"I'm sorry, I thought..." Brenda shrugged as Chase and I stood there with wide eyes.
"You're not her." Thomas replied, looking at me and Chase before turning back to Brenda.
Brenda's eyes drifted to the floor and I instantly felt the urge to cheer the girl up. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and started pulling her away from the boys. "Don't worry about him, he'll come around!"
She looked at me with narrowed eyes before shaking her head. "Nah, he's in love with someone else." Both of us took a staggering breath as the ground suddenly seemed to shift. What is happening? I turned back to see Thomas and Chase swaying to the music...no...just swaying...right before Brenda collapsed and because she was being supported by me, I went down with her.
"Clara!" Thomas and Chase ran towards us but my vision was hazy...I couldn't seem to stay awake as the boys crashed down around us.
When I finally peeled my eyes open I noticed we were in a bright white room. I tried to reach up to rub my eyes but my hands were tied behind me. My eyes quickly darted down to find my feet also bound to the chair I sat in. I looked up to find Chase and Thomas tied up across from me and Brenda beside me, so far it looked like I was the first one awake.
"Oh good, I was hoping you'd wake first."
I looked up to see the blonde girl that stood behind us walk into the room with the blonde guy that was talking to Brenda and Thomas follow.
"Why?" My voice cracked as I searched their faces, each step they took seemed more threatening than the last.
"We've been looking for anyone that Wicked wants back and lucky for us Clara, it seems like we struck a jack pot with you." The man replied with a grin.
"How do you know me?"
The man let out a sharp laugh as he took another step towards me. "Are you kidding? I'm pretty sure everyone knows who you are. You're the one Jansen wants back so bad he's put a bounty on you. The largest bounty I've ever seen."
A/N: As you've probably guessed the next chapter will be all sorts of fun ;) can't wait for it! Thank you to all of you who have stuck with this all this time. I've never written anything this long before and recently I have been having some issues with motivation but now things are picking up and I can't wait for chapter nineteen!
Also, since I don't technically have an actress that Clara is based on I've decided maybe Sammi Hanratty? I'll get a picture with her and hopefully be able to insert DOB and possibly Cody (Chase) too! Thoughts?!
