7#- I Just Want to Take a Bath, Man
Keijiro didn't like being separated from Michael or Fujitaka but it's not like he had a choice. He's already been shown to his room which was thankfully next to his friends and now he was standing in front of Aguni pretending to listen to whatever the man was talking about.
The two stood in a room with various weapons, mostly guns, hanging on the wall and Keijiro was wearing a blue and yellow Hawaiian shirt with black shorts that were given to him. His hair was now down, out of its ponytail, and he refused to wear flip flops so he wore tennis shoes instead.
Aguni picked up one of the guns. "We'll start with learning how to shoot with this one—"
"I already know how."
Aguni moved on to another gun. "Fine, then—"
"That one too."
Aguni glared at him and Keijiro stared back innocently.
"Tell me, where did you get special training from?" Aguni asked.
"Special training? I just like guns."
"That won't be enough if you're going to be a militant."
"I'm not going into war," Keijiro said, "and I never fully agreed to this." He saw Aguni's frown deepen. "Don't worry, I won't "disrespect" your little friend going forward. We good?"
"Friend?" Aguni scoffed. "Hatter is not my friend."
"Well, you sure stood up for him like he was." Keijiro walked around the room. "Since I know how to use all of these, can I go now?"
Aguni blocked his path. "Niragi was my second in command before you came but he's away right now. Everyone at the Beach was terrified of him so now that he's gone they're going to try and act out." He pointed at Keijiro. "And since you're new they won't give you the same respect so you need to act like one of us, got it?"
"Sure... can I take a bath now?"
Aguni grumbled still unsatisfied but dismissed him anyways.
On the way back to his room, Keijiro saw Fujitaka down the hall chatting with some guy in a hat. Fujitaka was wearing a loose white shirt with sky blue shorts and his hair was in a small ponytail. When the blonde boy spotted him, he left the guy and ran over.
"Who's that?" Keijiro asked right away.
"Oh, I just met him," Fujitaka said, "his name is Tatta."
"Good, you're making friends." Keijiro looked around. "Where's Michael?"
"I think he's taking a shower."
Keijiro grinned. "Ah, great minds think alike. I'll catch you later—"
"I'm surprised you all managed to find this place."
Keijiro fought the urge to pull his hair out and slowly turned to see Chishiya with Kuina by his side as usual.
"But we're glad you did," Kuina added at the end, "where's the buff guy and that girl with the purple hair?"
Keijiro shrugged. "We don't know them like that." He then looked over at Chishiya and checked an imaginary watch. "My cat usually takes her nap around this time so why are you still up?"
"Still with the elementary school insults, I see." Chishiya sighed.
"Ma'am, that was way above kindergarten vocabulary."
Kuina looked over at Chishiya, who she's always seen keep his cool, start closing and unclosing his fists in aggravation but of course no one else noticed.
Keijiro gestured to Chishiya's white jacket. "Wait, how is that allowed? Just because you pull the zipper down a bit doesn't make it "swim attire". These rules don't make any sense."
"I know but we still follow them." Kuina shrugged then murmured something. "It's not like we'll be here for long."
Keijiro narrowed his eyes. "What does that mean?"
"Nothing," Chishiya interrupted, "since they've explained everything to you then I'm sure you know that all the residents always gather together at some point to go out and play the games."
They did not explain that.
"They try and bring back potential cards although it's very rare. Your visa doesn't matter here," Chishiya added.
"What?!" Fujitaka shook his head. "No way, that's crazy."
"I'm afraid it's true," Kuina said, "we all have to gather in the lobby tonight."
"We should be excused since we're new," Keijiro said and Fujitaka agreed.
"That's not how this works," Chishiya told them
Keijiro rolled his eyes right as Michael came out of his room. He wore a red beach jacket with white shorts and black flip flops. There was also steam emitting from his skin probably from just getting out of the shower.
"Oh," Michael spoke upon seeing four people near his door, "what's going on?"
"Oh, you know." Keijiro folded his arms. "Discussing which game we'll die in tonight."
"Don't say that." Fujitaka pouted.
"But we have five days until we have to participate again," Michael said and Chishiya chuckled at that.
"You three need to get your heads straight if you want to survive," he said, "don't get distracted by these luxuries and forget where we really are."
Michael sighed. "He has a point. We just need to stick together."
Chishiya objected to that. "It would be better to split up—"
Keijiro held his hand up. "Uh, he was talking to me and Fuji. You're not apart of our group."
"Fine," Chishiya said, "go in with your friends like you want but don't come out crying if you so happen to pull a hearts game. Splitting up would be the smart thing to do."
Keijiro hadn't thought of that outcome. He then turned to both Michael and Fujitaka. "Actually Michael, maybe it would be better for us to split up."
"Unbelievable," Chishiya spoke but Keijiro continued.
"Who knows what kind of game we'll get ourselves into. Splitting up would be the smart thing to do."
Chishiya put his hands in his pockets. "How'd you come up with that idea—"
"I'm sorry, what?" Keijiro held a hand up to his ear as if he were trying to listen for something. He glanced at Michael and Fujitaka. "Do you hear meowing?"
Michael looked embarrassed by his friend's actions and Fujitaka really did his best not to laugh.
"It's like this faint meowing." Keijiro went on. "Kind of sounds like biscuit—"
Zzzt!
Keijiro jumped at the sound and whirled around to see something in the white haired guy's hands. "What is that?"
"A taser."
"So, you just have tasers in your pocket now? Where'd you even get that from?"
"I made it."
Kuina nodded. "Yeah, he does that sort of thing. He's like some kind of mad scientist. Didn't you make a few bombs as well?"
"Only small ones."
Keijiro stared at the two. "You guys... are not normal."
Chishiya raised an eyebrow. "And you are?"
Keijiro opened his mouth to respond but turned to Michael instead. "I'm gonna take a bath." He then pointed at Chishiya who was grinning. "Stop smirking like you've won this argument."
When Keijiro retreated into his room Michael walked off as well leaving Fujitaka alone.
"Uh, what's your name again?" Kuina asked the boy.
"Fujitaka."
"You can hang with us if you want."
Chishiya glanced in another direction. "I have other things to do."
"What?" Kuina gestured to Fujitaka. "But he's adorable, you're just gonna ignore him?"
"He's got you now." Chishiya walked off.
"It's okay." Fujitaka assured Kuina. "Keijiro doesn't like him so I don't either. It's mutual."
Kuina laughed. "You're funny, kid." She put her arm around him. "We're going to get along just fine."
......
Relaxation {100%}
Keijiro sunk deeper into the warm water of the bathtub, not caring how the place even has power. To be honest, he didn't really plan on staying at the Beach for long but this... this bathtub was a pretty convincing argument.
Keijiro sighed and closed his eyes in content but the fact that he'd have to play again tonight although his visa was still valid sucked. After a solid hour, he finally left the bath and dried off before collapsing onto the bed.
Time must have passed by in a flash because a knock surfaced at his room door not too soon after which made him groan in protest. When he didn't answer it the door opened.
"Everyone's gathering in the lobby now," Michael informed him.
Keijiro sat up, still groggy, and yawned. "No."
"What do you mean, no? We don't have a choice."
Keijiro whined like a child but still got up anyways. He didn't bother with a ponytail this time and just sulked out of his room with Michael, leaving his own gun behind. He just hoped he wouldn't need it for whatever game he got himself into.
When they entered the lobby, Hatter was already preaching to the hundreds of people in the crowds with the executives plus Aguni by his side. Keijiro didn't know if he should be up there as well since he was apart of the militants but spotted Fujitaka and walked over there instead.
When Keijiro and Michael approached Fujitaka, the boy was already speaking to the guy in the hat Keijiro saw earlier.
"Hey!" Fujitaka lit up once he saw his friends. "Since we agreed to split up for the games, I'll go with Tatta this time!"
Keijiro took one look at the scrawny guy and was about to object but Michael already spoke for them.
"Sure, sounds good."
Keijiro huffed then looked at the guy. "Tanner, was it?"
"It's Tatta—"
Keijiro wrapped an arm around Tatta's shoulders a little too tight. "Well Trent, I hope you're a good team player because if you come back alone..."
Tatta chuckled nervously. "I- I won't. Don't worry, I'll look after him."
Michael glanced over at Keijiro. "So, I guess I should go find a group as well."
"You can join me."
Keijiro let go of Tatta and turned around to see it was Kuina who gave the offer. Chishiya stood next to her looking calm and collected per usual.
Michael smiled at that. "Alright, then."
"But that means..." Keijiro's face fell as he slowly turned to Chishiya. He then pleaded with Michael. "Let's switch."
Michael shook his head. "Nah, that's not how this works."
"I'm not thrilled about it either." Chishiya made clear. "But I'm not going to whine like a child about it."
Keijiro crossed his arms. "Everyone else gets a reliable partner but I get stuck with the cat."
"Cat?" Tatta questioned in confusion.
"Why do you keep calling me that?" Chishiya finally asked with a hint of frustration.
"Because you look like one," Keijiro answered like it was obvious.
Before Chishiya could rebuttal to that, numerous cheers came from around them due to something Hatter said and everyone began to disperse.
Keijiro looked both Michael and Fujitaka in the eye. "Don't die."
"Didn't plan on it." Michael chuckled.
Fujitaka stepped closer to Keijiro and eyed Chishiya from over Kei's shoulder. "I don't want you going with him. I don't trust him."
Keijiro laughed and ruffled Fujitaka's hair. "You and me both. We just have to do what's best for now." He then grinned slyly. "Plus, if we so happen to wind up in a hearts game then I won't have to hesitate to throw a guy under the bus."
Fujitaka gave a thumbs up. "Right." He then ran off with Tatta while Michael left with Kuina.
Keijiro bit the inside of his cheek ready to play nice but when he turned around, Chishiya was already leaving. He ran to catch up with him.
"Uh, where are you going?" Keijiro asked.
"To find a game venue, of course."
The two left the Beach in search of any red force fields indicating a starting game. Keijiro didn't like the awkward silence that drifted between them but the other didn't seem to mind.
"I have a question," Keijiro spoke after some time."
Chishiya sighed. "What?"
"What kind of litter do you use?"
Chishiya stopped in his tracks and turned to Keijiro who was completely serious. "If you want to survive then you need to focus instead of trying to be a comedian."
"It was a serious question."
Chishiya continued to walk again and soon they eventually found a wide gray building with no windows which was already suspicious. Multiple people were filing inside so Keijiro and Chishiya did the same.
The inside was plain and boring with multiple doors lined down the rows of both walls. In the center of the room there was a table holding multiple phones with several plastic chairs surrounding it. There was also a screen on the back wall that was turned off.
The two of them grabbed their own phone just like the other participants.
"This place doesn't look too promising," one girl said, "seems pretty boring."
"That's what you're worried about?" Another guy answered. "We could possibly die in here but you're worried about the decor?"
Keijiro looked down at Chishiya. "I'll decide if we should work together once I know what type of game this is."
"I prefer to work alone," Chishiya responded, "just because we attend a game together doesn't mean we're a team."
"Ah, I see. So, when you and Kuina enter one you just leave her to fend for herself. That's not what it looked like during that clubs game."
Chishiya fell quiet before speaking again. "I don't think I like you."
Keijiro gasped. "How rude... my cat really doesn't like me either but I feed her so she makes the effort to tolerate me. You should try it." He then watched a few more people come into the building and he recognized that some were also from the beach. Just then, a familiar automated voice spoke to them.
Registration has closed
There are a total of 12 participants
The game will now commence
Keijiro took a deep breath and peered down at his phone.
Difficulty: 3 of Diamonds♦️
Game: Werewolf
"Sounds familiar," Keijiro said then deflated a little. From what Ousuke told them, diamonds were intellectual games and he knew he always prided himself in his smarts but that was just for show.
Rules: the participants will be divided up into 6 villagers, 3 specials, and 3 werewolves. The game will decide your role and give you your instructions on your individual phone. During "nighttime", players with special abilities will make their moves.
For example, a werewolf will choose a victim, a seer can learn what role another player has and a medic can save someone from getting "killed". During "daytime" it will be announced who was killed or what special abilities were used. Players will discuss who they think the werewolves are and vote to eliminate a player.
The goal is to succeed in eliminating all three werewolves within the time limit. If players fail to find the werewolves then it is game over.
Time limit: 1 hour
After hearing the rules, Keijiro looked over at Chishiya and smiled. "Hey buddy, I think we should work together afterall. What do you say?"
"No."
"But why?" Keijiro huffed. "We're both pretty smart so if we work together—" he stopped when he heard soft chuckling. "I'm sorry, is something funny?"
"You? Smart?"
Before Keijiro could defend himself, another voice interrupted them.
"Hey, we can work together if you want. Although that may change depending on my role."
Keijiro turned around at its familiarity to see a girl grinning at him with her hands behind her back.
Inori waved. "Hey, stranger."
