Chapter Thirteen
Meanwhile (A little while after the last chapter)
"I guess this is the end?" Eliza said to her sisters and Maria.
"No, it's not." Maria refuted. "You're going to survive this. You're going to graduate. You will go to Stanford. You will become valedictorian there. You and I will get married. " She started to tear up. "You and I will adopt a child. You and I will grow old together."
Angelica looked up. "It's starting to rain,"she said solemnly.
"Peggy," Eliza cried. Peggy hummed, sobbing. "Please forgive me. I have done you so much wrong. Will you forgive me?"
Peggy nodded, throwing her arm around Eliza's neck.
Rain slowly started to drip, and Maria said to Eliza, "It must hurt. I happen to have some mouthwash. The alcohol will burn at first. But it will hurt more if we do nothing about it."
"No!" Eliza cried weakly. Everyone turned back to her. She started to sing softly.
"Don't you fret, ma cherie. I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain, can hardly hurt me now
You're here. That's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow ."
The second time she repeated this, Maria joined with her.
"Don't you fret, ma cherie. I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain, can hardly hurt me now
You're here. That's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow,
And rain will make the flowers.."
Eliza sighed heavily and never took another another breath again. Peggy hugged Angie tight. Both started crying harder. Maria, having realized that she was gone, kept going, hugging her tight. "Grow."
I changed the lyrics a little bit to fit this scene.
